From sights unseen the computerized voice spoke again =/\= Entry into biome complete, beginning observation of survival and endurance test 1A among testing group Beta. Contact with test group Alpha should commence in the coming hours..=/\= It said. Evidently their designation as a test group beta and meeting another test group alpha meant there were others in this biome somewhere with them, how many or who they were was a mystery still.

Behind them the doorway they had come through closed and the wall lowered with a shudder in the dirt floor around them. Around them the forest trees hid much of the canopy above as was the details of the ceiling or sky. It was impossible to say at present whether they were in a real forest, a very large artificial forest in a building or structure, or some kind of advanced holographic simulation at this time. Still looking about they did see some variety of plant life which consisted of berries, fungus, bugs, and such all which they could try to eat which given they had not eaten since awakening and were unconscious for who knew how long at least a few days hunger and water would be priorities very soon as was evident given the testing parameters theri computer based watcher spoke of.

For now it would probably be best to find somewhere to setup a camp and secure food and water sources, not to mention getting a lay of the land and watch out for this ‘test group alpha’.

Mwezi put the captain down and sniffed the air some more, searching for any hint of other beings. He went to the nearest bush of berries and sniffed it briefly, then took a berry and brought it over to one of the humans. “Human skin is sensitive. Mush this against your skin and see if there’s a bad reaction. If there is, it’s poisonous.”

Smells for other signs of life came up mixed. There certainly was life about of some kind but nothing that rang any bells to Mwezi’s senses. The biggest scent was some kind of likely body odor similar to something reptilian almost like a Gorn might smell like but still quite different.

He left them to that and went to a tree, sizing it up briefly before turning to a slightly thicker tree and beginning to clamber up, his sharp claws and strong limbs serving him as well as those of a black bear.

Mwezi, CTO

William scratched his head at Mwezi’s actions. The man was a complete mystery to him, seemingly unphased by everything going on including their apparent changes in personality “Well you the man” He tossed the Berries to Doctor Blaze “Get to rubbing” He said with a cruel smile.

CSO

Blaze don’t like being used as a tester “ With all due respect sir why don’t you rub yourself what if I am Allergic and go into sort of shocked. We have no med to save us and I don’t like you using my life like this. I would hope a man of science you will understand that”

Dr. Alexander Blaze (Engineer)

William didn’t look away or change his expression “And what if I’m allergic?” He shot back “Besides it’s just a little science experiment, if a Human is allergic to it you will simply develop a rash like the good Weapons Chief said. Besides didn’t you say you wanted to help us all get back?” He didn’t wait for a response “If it helps you can consider it an order” This was almost good, he wasn’t sure if the challenge to authority was genuine or not but it was good friction. Now how far could he push this.

CSO

Whoever would finally decide to rub the berry would find no reaction evident of it being poisonous, further, once someone tried eating it they would find that the berrey was quite sweet and tasty! Surely if they had the means these berries would end up making quite the tasty berry type pie!

As this was happening from somewhere around them the brush seemed to go quiet of the smaller animal life likely indicating some kind of larger predator was in the area.

Blaze face palmed himself “ there is an easier way to check for toxins in the berries and I can see a few plants that will help with the detection as I said before we shouldn’t boldly expose ourselves to harmful things” Blaze took afew berries to the river found a large leaf on the way scooped up some water with his hands And poured it onto the lot the leaf. he crushed a few berries into the water and use his mouth to chew up the plants then he add it to the water. “ The plants were used as detoxing agents in the past. Some world still use them today. If the berries have any toxins in them the water would turn yellowed but the water stayed clear.”

Dr. Alexander Blaze (Engineer)

OOC: Um how would blaze know a berry is a detox agent? they’re alien berries he wouldnt have seen or known about before…

Blaze was starting to irritate Reid. Reid and Grey were both Ph.Ds too. Keali was a medical Doctor. He just walked away and looked around the area for surveillance equipment. They were being watched. But how?

Mwezi reached the point in the tree where he could safely climb no higher and looked around. He’d chosen one of the taller trees in the area and his head peeked over the tops of most of the shorter trees. What did he see?

Mwezi, CTO

William watched the intricate maneuvers of the Ensign without saying a word “You do realize that this will prove absolutely nothing” He rolled up his sleeve and started rubbing a leftover berry over his forearm “You don’t know what these plants do in conjunction with each other, that test will only prove that there might be reactions between the berries nothing else” He waited and saw no reaction then took another berry and tossed it in his mouth and chewed quite arrogantly as he turned away from the lad and joined the Chief Engineer “So visual and audio surveillance is probable, hopefully, Mwezi will discover if there is any physical surveillance as well” He spoke with a smile but no joy “We have some minor tools don’t we?” He asked without waiting for an answer “What sorts of tools and weapons could we craft with them?” He asked Reid.

CSO

“Simplest weapons to craft would be spears. We could just collect sticks and sharpen them. It’d take more time, but we could probably sharpen stones. Tear pieces off our uniform shirts to tie it together. At a certain point, a sharpened rock is any tool you need.”
