Kane cocked his head sideways and looked at the CSO through the strands of stray hair. “You need to work on your goading, Bill. You suck at it. And if your boy there had bothered to ensure the labs weren’t in use before running the diagnostic… as is required before taking any system off line, he would have seen they were in use… and the notification from the Charge Nurse.”

Kane’s first comment and the growing tension had caught David’s attention. He nodded to Ensign Yelchin for relief at the helm. He walked over to the CMO and Second Officer. “Commander. Lieutenant.” He greeted each briefly. “Is there a problem here?”

-Lt Cmdr David Malkin, XO

Will turned to the first officer and smiled at him “No problem, sir. Kane and I are having a disagreement of methods, nothing more” He said rather casually.

CSO, 2O

Kane looked at the XO and said “Nope. Just telling Bill here he needs to brush up on his diagnostics protocols before he gets his team in trouble again.” and he stepped onto the turbo lift and let the doors close.

Kane, CMO

Chris leaned towards Mwezi and whispered. “I wish I had some popcorn right about now.” And smiled.

Captain Chris Taggart CO

David looked like a teacher dealing with belligerent children. “If you have a personal or professional dispute, take it off the bridge. When we’re done at Galdor, I expect to see you and Kane in my office.”

-Lt Cmdr David Malkin, XO

Mwezi glanced over at the food truck. “Sorry, no Popcorn, Captain,” he replied, baring his teeth in a fierce smile for just a moment before he straightened up again. Another reason he liked this post… The Captain had a good sense of humor.

Mwezi, CTO

Will frowned at the first officer “I have no problem with this sir” He turned to follow Kane, stopping the lift from closing “But the proper complaints procedure must be followed, I don’t discipline or threaten your staff and I expect you to do the same.” He said annoyed that Kane didn’t seem to comprehend this.

CSO, 2O

Kane glanced at the hand blocking the door, then back up at the face of the CSO. When he spoke, his jaw stayed clenched and his glare held barely restrained anger. His voice was audible to everyone on the Bridge.

“Take your proper procedures and shove them up your $^@. I have an Engineer with a blood infection that is causing systemic failure and cardiovascular shutdown. His blood work was in your lab for testing when your idiot didn’t do a simple thing like looking to see if samples were in the centrifuge before shutting down the system for a routine diagnostic that could be done anytime. Now I have to restart those tests and that takes time. Time my patient may or may not have. So while you stand there trying to be ‘in charge’ and tell me what to do, I have a crew member dying and your guy cost that crew member valuable time. Time that is now wasting because of him and now you. Now you gonna let this door close? Or do I close it on you?”

Kane had always been difficult… rude, even. But that combativeness had always been generalized. This time it was different. It was focused. And it was protective rather than combative. It was clearly apparent that he had zero concerns for etiquette and protocol, but had the utmost concern for his patient.

Kane, CMO

“Kane.” The captain said calmly. “If you need my help, I’ll be there.” He was of course referring to surgery.

Enough! Both of you! Kane. Run your tests. Grey. Return to your station. The next words out of your mouths will be ‘yes sir.’ After the ceremony at Galdor, you will report to me and I will deal with you appropriately. Do I make myself clear?”

-Lt Cmdr David Malkin, XO

OOC: James, this is quite difficult if you use a Science NE as a figurative Straw-man just to make an entrance. I won’t be commenting more on this thread as I don’t see anything gained because of any action no matter how rational it is would be countered with a “But the NE did worse thing because I say so…” Bowing out
Hjortur

OOC: Ok. We will call that subplot closed, and let your characters go their separate ways. Resuming the commendation/promotion thread now.

OOC: Yeah, it got away from me. Sorry, all. Didn’t mean for it to get that far out of hand. No worries about closing it off.

James

IC:
Good Lord.” David said under his breath as he walked past the Captain’s chair. “Ensign. Time to Galdor?” Yelchin checked the helm display. “Three minutes sir.” David nodded. “Contact Galdor, alert them to our imminent arrival.”

-Lt Cmdr David Malkin, XO

Chris Clapped his hands together. “Awesome! Would you like to bring us in Lieutenant Mwezi?”

Captain Chris Taggart CO

Mwezi shrugged. “I am not a pilot, Captain. That is a job I think is best left to those who know how to do it, would you not say?”

Mwezi, CTO

“True that. But would you like to say, Helm. Take us in.?” If not I’ll do it.”

Captain Chris Taggart CO

Kane, CMO

“Oh, I understand.” Mwezi turned to the front and waited for them to reach their target. “Helm, take us in.”

Mwezi, CTO

David relieved the Ensign at the helm and brought the ship out of warp. “Now arriving at Galdor.” He glanced back at the Captain. “We have approach vector for orbit.”

-Lt Cmdr David Malkin, XO

“Awesome! On screen Commander and hail Galdor for permission to dock.”

He turned to Mwezi. “Would you like to be the one to do the talking?”

Captain Chris Taggart CO

Ensign Valharra stood at the tactical station watching everything go down, clicking buttons on his terminal so it loomed like he was busy doing something. He was ready to witness his first starfleet ceremony on a ship.
