Lieutenant Kane and Commander Grey were they only ones standing about still when two zombies came out of the darkness to attack them. One was running to Kane and the one going after William The Grey had no legs and was crawling on its stomach to get at him. Despite that it had no legs, it was still very fast, and they were making horrible noises with their mouths.

The guard that was still in the tower lowered and locked the floor plank of his tower room so no one could get up the stairs and get to him. He then started firing arrows into the fight and almost hitting Kane and Grey a few times but still missing the zombies.

Will looked at the crawling Zombie with a mixture of intrigue and worry, then the first few arrows flew by. He turned his head around and called “Stop that before you kill one of us” His voice was surprisingly dispassionate despite yelling. He then turned his attention to the creepy crawler, raised his hand, and swung his blade down to the ground, aiming for the skull.

“Then kill the blasted thing!” Screamed the guard. The zombies kept coming because William the Grey did nothing to stop their advancement.

Kane growled and looked at the creeping nasties as they moved towards them. “Rotten corpses running around, filled with rancid flesh and vile who knows what, and you idiots want to go and poke holes in it.” he said to no one in particular. He reached under his cloak and lifted the mace off his belt, keeping the phasers hidden. He had opted for the flanged style, not because he knew anything about maces per se, but figured if he had to hit someone with it it would hurt more than a spiked one. He stepped up the side of the CSO and brought the head down on the arm of the crawling one, trying to shatter bone and keep it from having any support to crawl with. He then turned attention to the rest.

Kanes choice of weapon was perfect for crushing the bones....if these things could feel or care if their bones were being crushed. His strike was spot on and it did hamper the movement of the the zombie on the ground but it was still coming, just not as fast. The one that was standing which Kane ignored is now on him grappling him by the arms and trying to bite at his neck.

Kane cursed and then simply fell backwards while pulling his legs up to his chest and kicking the thing off and over him, using the momentum of the fall to add to the distance the creature flew. Kipping up to his feet, he turned and swung the mace as hard as he could, aiming at the thing’s knees. Whether or not they could feel pain was irrelevant, a humanoid cant walk with broken knees.

The Captain and Brigette were off a few blocks from everyone else in the opposite direction when four zombies came out for them. Chris had his long sword already out and swung in a nice arc to decapitate one of the zombies out right and the other ducked under Chris’ second swing to grab him. Chris dropped the sword to focus on hand to hand combat now and he didn’t want to know the effects if one of these things bit anyone.

Brigette’s zombie was quick as well and it still wore the armor of a castle guard. Full breast plate, helmet, cauldrons, grieves, the whole nine yards and all made of steel. It attacked Bridie with it’s sword instead of a bite and it went for a midsection thrust with its one handed arming sword (Arming swords are like long swords. Same design but made to be wielded with one hand instead of two).

Bridie had her sword out. But when she realized she wasn’t going to have any chance against the armour, all she could do was evade and block. Her body bowed and she fell backwards onto the cobbled streets. She glanced up to see Taggart trying to fend off two more creatures and bit her lip to keep from crying out. The last thing he needed was a distraction. She could manage this one… she hoped.

She rolled out of the way of the swinging sword and came back to her feet. Her own short sword doing its best to block the swings. Her phaser, in the heat of the moment, forgotten in her hip pouch.

The one in armor going after Bridie kept swinging and she could tell that there were areas in the armor for her to thrust and strike at. The zombie was relentless to Bridie and was quick. He was not the average zombie from the Captains movies.

Chris managed to knock the one off him and kick it away far enough for him to pick back up his sword and swing at its head. As soon as the blade made contact with the zombies neck and went out the other side a thick fog rolled in and vanished just as soon as it appeared. Standing there in the open was a noble looking gentleman dressed to the nines with very long Snow White hair (Like Lucius father in Harry Potter) and seven other men that were clearly not zombies but didn’t seem alive a]either. He pointed towards the Captain. “That’s him. Bring him back to the Keep and dispose of the rest.” HE said calmly before vanishing in thin air.

The men looked over at them and as Chris’s attention was now diverted to help his girlfriend take out the armored zombie he just barely had enough time to react to a gang of men trying to tackle him. Chris managed to cut an arm off one of them and the head of another but there was too many and the tallest one pulled out a long sword of his own and ran it through the Captain clear to the other side and Bridie could see this from where she was.

Chris fell to his knees and dropped his sword which could be heard clanking on the cobble street and grabbed at the sword stuck in him and blood was coming from his mouth. The tall one then withdrew the sword and Chris cried out and fell over onto the street. The tall one looked around and pointed to the rest. “Take him back to the Keep like the Master said. I will take care of the rest.” He smiled and looked at Bridie. “Ohhhh. Lovely. What is your name child?” And with one motion of his sword decapitated the armored zombie while still looking straight at Bridie.

Bridie had been frozen in fear as the man had beheaded the armoured zombie. It was then she saw the men carry off Taggart with a sword in him. Her scream pierced thru the silent streets like a death keen. “CCCCCHHRRRIIIIIIIISSSSSS!” She ignored the man who had addressed her and lunged in the direction of her Captain. “NOOOOO!!!!” Another scream split the darkness as she lunged like a mad woman.

The tall one just put out his hand and caught her and threw her back down 6 feet away with one motion and out up a finger and wagged it to her. “No, no, no. You don’t get to go to the Keep....Alive that is. But it sounds and looks like you have feeling for that one. Your blood will taste sooooo much better when I drink it.” Smiling at her and showing his fangs.

Bridie landed with a grunt on her backside and rolled to her hip, skidding slightly on the cobbles. Her hip hurt but the Captain was in trouble. She staggered to her feet and shook her head. “I don’t think so,” she growled at her assailant and made a ruse for a side street she hoped would bring her back around in time to catch up with the Captain.

She wasn’t as fast as usual, though. She ran, but realized she had a limp and her hand was scraped and bleeding along the outside of her left palm where she had landed.

The vampire materialized in front of her and tripped her. Laughing he spun around. “Clearly you have not met a vampire before! The older we are, the faster we become and baby I’m 357! But I do like a girl with vigor before she becomes rigor.”

Surprise made her cry out as once more she hit the cobbles. This time on her hands and knees as she rolled to keep her head from striking the stones from her momentum forward. She slowly got to her feet. Her body starting to feel the subtle beating it was getting. “I may not understand what you are. But I do understand I am not going to be your meal.” She tried to take off running once more. At the last minute, though, just before she reached the intersection before her, glancing to be sure he wasn’t behind her, she spun and went back the way she had come. If he had been leaping in front of her. Maybe her switch back at the count of beats it had taken him to catch her before would confuse him and give her a chance to duck another nearby corner to avoid him. She bit her tongue to keep her pain from making her cry out as she loped trying to run. Tears in her eyes seeing the sword impale Taggart once more.
