SNIP

Alex was helping with Power distributing and was getting good at it afew of the Others were giving him praises for his work. So he requested to be Assigned there more and the other officers like him there.

Ensign Alex Blaze (Engineer)

((turning this to main sim thread))

Bridie came into Engineering and looked around. “Blaze! Perfect. Come here. I need you to work on this console,” she pointed to the one closest to the warp core. “We have basic thrusters but no warp capability. I need you to run a full diagnostic and see what we have. Then we have to find a way to bypass it. Can you manage the diagnostic?” She smiled and nodded having faith in his abilities. He just needed direction.

Lt JG Brigette Marshall
Chief Engineer

Blaze finished on what he was working on and went over to the consul. He tried to access the system and ran the diagnostic.

(what did the diagnostic show)

Ensign Alex Blaze (Engineer)

Diagnostics showed that the warp drive had been put on effective “low power mode.” Propulsion was locked out and the core functioned only as a power source to keep the ship alive.

-Fate

She heard the chirp of the computer and Bridie looked up from where she was going over the logs to see if she could find the command that had shut them down. “What’s the diagnosis, Blaze? She gonna live?” The Chief laughed knowing the ship would live, but wondering what the computer had come up with.

Blaze closed his eyes to think “so the diagnosis is the warp is in low power mode with Propulsion was locked out and the core functioned only as a power source.....the problem is the reason why propulsion is locked out I am thinking I can write a bypass to allow us to use the warp dive but the overall power problem I have been working the power station for a week we never lowered the power to the core or drive.......I think we have a Leak” he said as he opened his eyes

Ensign Alex Blaze (Engineer)

She smiled and nodded. “I applaud the idea, but we can’t just write a program to circumvent the running of the ship. Wish it were so. But we need to find a way to figure why the switch was flipped and how to flip it back. So,” she moved up to the other side of the console. “Try and see if you can find a reroute to the propulsion system. We can’t hit ‘warp’ or ‘impulse’, but perhaps we can use something else. Something that will ‘push’ the ship forward in power enough that it will power up on its own.” She wasn’t sure it was possible but they had to try.

“Meanwhile I will see what I can do about the warp core. If it’s in low power mode then maybe I can finagle a couple things and slowly bring the power up on that end till it kicks back on.” She set to work trying to find a way to back track the commands that put it in low power mode. If she could find the spot the commands began, maybe, step by step, she could insert a counter command so when the system was reset, it would follow the commands given, but also the counters so it would return to normal at the end of the cycle.

Bridge found that just before NE Peters ended his life, he entered CO level access codes to put the warp core in low power mode.

-Fate

Alex was thinking “Sir so the System had a CO level code to pull the system into low power so as long as that computer is connected we are blocked due to the code but did you know on most computers if we remove the hard dive to this Console and replace it with a old backup the system will go back to the normal I can set it up” he said as he opened the panel to the console “looks like I can get this done in a few hours but the problem is do we have a temporary back up”

Ensign Alex Blaze (Engineer)

Bridie frowned. “CO level pass code? That makes no sense.” She tapped her console. =^=Engineering to Bridge. Computer is showing a CO level code was the cause of the lock out and low power order. The only thing we can think is to perhaps reboot the system. I’ll try and work on something else. I don’t know how long it would leave us vulnerable.=^=

Bridie
CE

Responding Sideman said, =^= Chief lets try to the reboot…we need to get this ship up and running.=^=

(cross from bridge)

Bridie frowned. Reboots were tricky. As the command came, she merely replied. =^=Copy… starting reboot sequence now.=^= She then notified the ship. =^=All hands prepare for maintenance reboot. Emergency power on line in 3…2…1…=^=

She glanced at Blaze and gave the nod. It would take both of them to initiate the shut down. Once Blaze acknowledged he was ready, the two of them began the process. One by one the engineering processes were shut down for restart. Life support and emergency lighting as well as minimal comms remained operational on backup. “Let’s hope this works.”

Once the ship was completely ‘cold’, she hit the commands to restart it. Then it was a matter of waiting to see if it worked.

Blaze was standing in the darkness of main engineering. It was quiet for too long “sir I have a bad feeling” he said out loud “is this Supposed to take this long”

Ensign Alex Blaze (Engineer)

With minimal emergency lighting, the console they were at was more than half bathed in darkness. As Blaze’s concern rose, Bridie shook her head. “Another minute or so, Blaze. Remember this is more than a single system check. This was a major shut down. It could take a couple minutes. Thus my concern about doing it.” She smiled at him but guessed he wouldn’t be able to see much if anything of her reaction.

The stillness became aching. Lights did not return for what felt like too long. Then the ship snapped to life, the warp core roaring into action. Everything seemed to function as it should.

-Fate

The power snapping back on actually made Bridie startle slightly. “Gods I hate that…” she murmured and quickly ran a check. “Diagnostics on all systems, Blaze. Let’s make sure this baby is back to herself.” She started running some of the checks on her own.

Bridie
CE

Blaze smiled he loved the sound of the warp core humming. He went to one of the consuls and checks the systems to make sure the right programs were running. “ every thing good so fare and the CO level lock for the low power mode has been removed the helm should have control now but tactical systems will take 30 minutes to get online” he said he was working hard he had a skill to look over computer code to see if there were any errors.

Ensign Alex Blaze (Engineer)

Bridie smiled and nodded before contacting the Bridge. =^=Engineering to bridge… you should have controls back. Full tactical could take a bit longer. But we shouldn’t be sitting ducks anymore.=^= She was pretty sure the tactical would come up in faster time once it started the program.

Bridie

It wasn’t long before all promised systems were good to go.

-Fate

Alex was watching the System coding “every thing looks good for far. Warp drive will be ready in 30 min and the defense systems are coming back online now” then he went over to the power regulation System and move power around a bit to not over load the systems as more systems and sub systems were coming back online.

Ensign Alex Blaze (Engineer)

Thankfully once the systems started booting, the thirty minute countdown dropped to a few moments, then was ready to go. A smile lit her face. “Good job, Blaze. All systems are a go.” She nodded to the console. “Run diagnostics on all systems. Will only take a few minutes, but I want to be sure all the bugs are gone. You did good.” She smiled and nodded once more to let him know she was sincere.

Blaze went to the main console and started the diagnostics he looked over to the CE “ your shift been over for a few hours now. I can handle the diagnostics it will take a few hours to complete you can get some rest I can contact you if anything comes up” he said with concern in his voice. He can tell the CE was pushing herself this problem was taking a lot out of her.

Ensign Alex Blaze (Engineer)

((Actually shift started at beginning of Sim))

“Actually, shift is barely half over, Blaze. But it certainly feels like it’s been longer, huh?” She laughed at the concern in her subordinate’s tone. But something made her wonder if he was the one getting tired and projecting it to her? Perhaps this was too soon to throw him in the mix. “And the diagnostic is already running and will only take a few moments. We don’t need a deep scan with a restart like this. Just a quick look to make sure the system is purged of anything we don’t want there. So don’t start a deep diagnostic. Thanks.” She knew he was enthusiastic, but later she would have to take him aside and remind him that when she said something, he wasn’t to jump to conclusions that she wanted even more than that.

Alex was feeling off like something was wrong. His Vision started get blurred. He grabbed for the workbench to his right and managed to keep himself from falling to the ground but not far long. He hit the ground hard (He has a very high fever)

Ensign Alex Blaze (Engineer)

It happened so fast, Bridie was stunned. It took her a moment to realize Blaze had gone down. Her first reaction, unfortunately, was that he was playing. “Blaze, seriously?” She was laughing as she came around the corner. “No need to get all melodramatic every time I correct you, ya know.” Seeing him on the floor, she frowned, hands on her hips. “Blaze… get up.”

When he didn’t move, she sighed and squatted on the balls of her feet next to him. Shaking him lightly, she sighed and shook her head tapping her comm badge. Her voice was less worried and more inconvenienced than anything. =^=Bridie to Sick bay, Ensign Blaze passed out. Hot to the touch. Need medical team to Engineering or a beam to your point.=^= She shook her head once more. Speaking to him, though realizing he wouldn’t hear her, she clicked her tongue. “You need to see the Doc and the Counselor. Something tells me space and ships are too much of a stress for you.” She stood up and motioned to one of the on lookers now gathered around. “Stay with him till he’s beamed out or medical arrives. I need to see to it we aren’t left floating dead in space.”

Now she was a bit more than inconvenienced, she was getting annoyed. “Everyone else back to work. It’s not that big a deal. Go on!” She shooed them all away and turned back to the console about the time the diagnostic had finished its run and checked to be sure the system was full recovered from the reboot.

OOC: This is fine as long as the only character affected is Blaze. Do not change the plot. If you need me to revisit your thread, send me an email or contact me on discord.

IC: Systems reboot showed to have gone well, and the transporter was now in use. A few seconds later, a voice roared from upstairs. Too deep to be human.

-Fate

Bridie kept half an eye on Blaze and his NE babysitter as the diagnostic finished. She was pleased all was well and had worked. But the sound from upstairs made her startle. “What in all the darkness?” She growled and glanced to see who else heard it before moving towards the ladder, not wanting to be stuck in a lift if something went sideways.

Moving up the ladder closest to her, she kept her head moving as she searched for the source of the noise. “I swear, if NE Hawkins is messing around again, he’s getting third shift conduit cleaning for a week!!” She growled her own ‘non human’ noise as she headed up.
