SNIP

William was standing still, suppressing the urge to either smile or frown “That would not be an advisable course of action doctor” He said the title with a slightly amused tone “Judging by your expletives I gather you’ve learned something from your scans.” He stated casually.

CSO, 2O

“Kane. If you need assistance I will do what I can. I’m not in the best condition but whatever I can do then I’ll do it.” He sat back down on the biobed and and tried to ponder what was going on.

Captain Chris Taggart CO

William looked at the Captain for a few moments “Hopefully we’ll be able to figure out what happened to our two bridge officers and see if it could happen again to someone else” He disliked being away from the Bridge for so long but his mind was more useful assisting the Doctor in finding out what happened.

CSO, 2O

“Look.” and he brought up the scan. Pointing at the two areas in question, he said “Injury of unknown origin here… and here.” and he pointed at an almost immeasurably small injury to the hippocampus and one in the cerebellum. He then brought up the last scan of the young officer. “Nothing here, and no record of any injury. Thoughts?”

Kane, CMO

Chris scratched at the beard he was growing. “Mmmmm. Could it be that we brought back something onto this ship from our last trip? A lot of strange things down there. I watched this movie called.......Alien. A face hugger of sorts latched itself onto the host and then it got inside the victim. Another movie, which I can’t think of the name right now but it had the Quaker Oats dude in it, where aliens got inside these people’s heads and latched on to the brain to control them. It might be something like that.”

He paused thinking about the voice he was hearing in his own head and hoping that he would not suffer their fate.

Captain Chris Taggart CO

William took a few steps forward to get a closer look at the scan results. He gave the captain a bemused look at his incessant archaic cultural references “I’m assuming you’ve found no evidence of surgery anywhere on the skull?” He didn’t wait for an answer “These injuries are so, well micro, It’ll be hard formulate a theory. But the location of the injuries can help guide us, motor function and memory” He said indicating each respective part of the brain “Some device, creature, or a method unknown to us took control over two officers on the bridge. Perhaps we should scan other members of the crew?” He asked the CMO

CSO, 2O

“I’m sorry William. Where did you get your medical degree from again? But I do like the scan the other crew idea. Do that. Let’s hope it’s a consistent procedure.” He laid back down and spoke to himself in his mind to the thing living inside. Looks like you are about to be found out. You can save yourself and others like you if you tell us what you want and or need?

Captain Chris Taggart CO

William turned tom the Captain “No medical degree as of yet but I am a Xenobiologist and comparative xenobiology is a speciality of mine, as are most things I study.” He said in a conversational tone “Although I have been considering delving deeper into the medicinal sciences.”

CSO, 2O

“Oh. Well. Good for you. Wait. What’s the status of the bridge right now?”

Captain Chris Taggart CO

“Cleanup and preparation for the retaking control of the Ship, XO is in charge with Mwezi” William said calmly, ignoring the moody Doctor to his side.

“Probably less crowded with degree comparing egg-heads than this place right now.” Kane mumbled. Looking at the scan closer, he scowled. A low growl came from him and he pointed back to Taggart. “Lay back. I wanna look at your brain. Grey, you too. No arguments.” and he began prepping the scans.

Kane, CMO

“I know you said no arguments but I don’t think that’s a good idea with me right now. And Kane. I mean it. For the good of the ship.” He didn’t know what he was saying and knew Kane would still do it but the voice in his head told him to not let anyone know he was there or people on the ship will die.

Captain Chris Taggart CO

William cocked his head at the Captain’s comment, what an odd thought. “Is such a detailed scan possible with a hand scanner?” He asked “Because if not then we’ll need to send the Bridge crew down here and more people.” He stood quietly and waited for the Doctor to finish the Captains test.

CSO, 2O

Ensign Silver

He walked into medical with a skip in his step, ready for his first posting. “Reporting to medical for my check-up.” He loudly declared, firmly planting his feet to the ground with a loud clank.

OOC: Welcome aboard! As this is a Main Sim thread, we typically don’t combine it with check in threads. And make sure you put your signature at the end of your post.

James, a.k.a. Kane, CMO

IC: Kane shot the new arrival a look that would melt hull plating. “Maybe that can wait until I’m not elbow deep in brain scans, Ensign? Now make yourself useful and get a statement from that one there.” and the CMO jersey a thumb at the near - catatonic patient on the other biobed.

Kane, CMO

Silver’s face turned white as snow, as if the blood evaporated from his body. “I uh, I’m sorry sir, my enthusiasm got the best of me. I will do what I can sir.” He meekly stammered out. Silver sulked towards the patient and stared for a few seconds. “Can I please have your name, rank, and station.”

Ensign Silver

Just then was another interruption as Bridie’s voice came over the comms. She sounded more inconvenienced than anything. =^=Bridie to Sick bay, Ensign Blaze passed out. Hot to the touch. Need medical team to Engineering or a beam to your point.=^=

Bridie
CE

Kane cursed… loudly. He then glared and pointed to Nurse Bell. “Get down there and figure out what happened.” Bell nodded and pressed the comms on the wall. [O] Sickbay to Engineering. Medical Team en route. [C] and she grabbed a medkit and two aides and left.

Kane, CMO

William took a few steps out of the way as Kane cursed and cursed and ordered and all the other things he’d come to expect from the man “As I was saying, is this a portable procedure or location-specific?”

CSO, 2O

“Chief Medical Officer Kane, the patient isn’t responding to questioning, is this a criminal investigation sir?” Ensign silver squirmed in his uniform, as Kanes eyes could peirce his very soul.

Ensign Silver

Vulk started at Silver as if they didn’t speak the same language. He seemed scared. “ Gol’nev nash-veh.”

-Fate

William turned around with a perplexed expression on his face, it was rare these days to hear Vulcan spoken out loud especially on a Starship “Help me” HE said his expression turned emotionless “He asked for help” he stated matter-of-factly.

CSO, 2O

Kane looked at the CSO and then back to Vulk. He scowled and then moved to the patient’s side. Holding up the scanner, he said “Im running a scan and comparing it to his previous one. Whatever this is, it may be causing progressive damage.”

Kane, CMO

Chris couldn’t help it anymore and sat up and turned himself around and got up from the biobed and just casually walked out of sickbay holding his chest as he did so, heading to the bridge to see what was going on.

Captain Chris Taggart, CO

The scan showed that the damage inhibiting Vulk’s memories was spreading, and had limited his linguistic abilities.

-Fate

Kane cursed and ran a full scan, concentrating on the damage to get an idea of what kind of damage was happening. Radiation? Organic? He had to get an idea of the nature of the source before he could try and slow, and hopefully reverse, what it was.

Kane, CMO

William turned around rather stiffly as the Captain left, his face contorted into the slightest of frowns. The Captain was a medical Doctor, he was more useful here assisting Kane with the examination, all of Williams’ expertise was in theoretical applications of medicine, not practical. “Doctor, was the Captain cleared to leave your sickbay?” He asked his gaze still focused on the exit.

CSO, 2O

Whatever was causing Vulk’s memory impairment, the initial cause was gone. All that remained was an injury. As if his brain had decided to damage itself progressively.

-Fate

“Nope. Perks of being the boss, I guess.” Kane half mumbled as he looked at the scans. Looking up he said to the nurse “Neural regenerator. Ten amper-cycles. Let’s see if we can get this under control.” When the nurse handed him the device, he placed it on Vulk and said “Keep him sedated. Scan every five minutes and note any difference.”

Kane, CMO

Kanina stepped into sickbay and looked around. She had been drawn in by fear, which wasn’t unusual to feel in sickbay, but something was different. She walked quickly to Dr. Kane. “Dr. Kane, Kanina Dran. How can I help?”
-Kanina, CNS

Kane’s eyes didn’t even flicker at the question, his focus solely on garnering whatever information he could from the scans. In his typical growl-like voice, he said “How the hell should I know how you can help? I don’t even know who you are, lady.”, his tone dripping with scarcely-concealed frustration. There was a significant amount of anger contained in the heavily tattooed CMO and his face, what could be seen through the cascade of wild hair falling across it, did little to nothing to conceal his emotions.

Kanina paused, reading the emotions she could get from Kane. “Let me rephrase. Dr. Kane, I’m Dr. Kanina Dran. I’m also the counselor. How can I help?” She may avoid reading thoughts as a courtesy, but she wasn’t above using her empathic abilities freely on the ship.
-Kanina Dran, CNS

William moved to the side of the room and hit the nearest wall-com [O]Grey to Commander Sideman, Doctor Kane is working on some neurological issues with NE Vulko, is the ship functional?”[O] He asked, assuming that the comm signal would be redirected to the Bridge.

CSO, 2O

Kane, CMO

[O]We are still working on power issues and now we have some ‘guests’ on the ship. Please send someone to the transporter room.[O]

Lt. Commander Michael Sideman, XO

William looked back at the doctor for a moment [O]”I’m on my way[C] He tapped the comm switch. “Kane, I’m going to meet with Commander Sideman and greet these guests” He hesitated “Doctor, am I right to assume that the Captain is still under your care and thus you have not returned him to duty?” He asked in a curious tone.

CSO, 2O

Kane snapped back. “He’s a grown man! If he wants to run around like an idiot and hurt himself more, so be it!” and he dialed in a spectrographic analysis of the damaged brain tissue. As he did he cast a sharp glance at Grey. In an almost whisper, he said “Keep an eye on him. There’s something not right, but I can’t put a name to it.”

Kane, CMO

For a moment William considered scolding the Doctor for his attitude but decided against it. He simply nodded and said “Agreed” before turning to leave.

Kanina looked back and forth between the two of them. “If you don’t mind, I’ll accompany you.” It wasn’t really a question, uncharacteristic behaviour fell under her jurisdiction.
-Kanina Dran, CNS

The young man turned slightly and looked at the new arrival “Alright, we’ll head to meet with the first officer and those new arrivals, your skills might come in handy there.” he said and left the Sickbay.

CSO, 2O

Kanina spared a moment to nod to Dr. Kane, then followed Grey out.
-Kanina Dran, CNS

Exhaling a long, slow breath when the two finally left, he said “Bell! Get me a neurostimulator and full biopsy kit.”

Kane, CMO

Kane waited until everything was ready. Before attaching the neurostimulator, he took a small piece of the damaged brain tissue and sealed it in a pathology sample kit. “Get this in the scanner right away. O want the results yesterday.” he said to Bell and then closed the incision and began the device that would… hopefully… allow the damaged tissue to revive.

Kane, CMO
