NE Elderberry and NE Damask were in the Briefing Room preparing the Room with snacks and refreshments. Security arrived armed and were positioned outside the room as per the CTO orders.

Storyteller

The CTO, however, was nowhere to be seen within the Briefing room, having stayed on the bridge to monitor the situation from there. He put trust in the Security forces he had applied to this task. NEs Grace, Jones, and Pallow were good at their job, some of the least accident prone of his team. Meanwhile, the protocol requested by the CSO was in place.

Mwezi, CTO

William meanwhile entered the briefing room rolling the coffee tray in, prepared himself a cup of tea and sat down in his regular chair, awaiting the arrival of the firstt officer and the Aliens, crossing his legs and going over potential outcomes of this plan.

CSO, 2O

Deciding the cup of tea was ready for drinking he started taking small sips. Black tea always had a calming effect, something he needed for now. His heart had finally calmed down after the tumultuous happenings on the bridge, he started to think about why the Captain had decided to make a twenty-two-year-old inexperienced science officer the ships second officer, he knew that he was a good officer and probably one of the smartest people in the fleet but still, he had acted as the ships acting first officer so many times by now. He wondered what it was that man saw in him that William didn’t see in himself.

CSO, 2O

The aliens drifted in. They remained silent as they took positions along the wall.

OOC: Ignore the Bump…I can see that we need to merge these two posts. PLEASE RESPOND FROM HERE.

Commander Sideman walked into the conference room; he always seemed ready to go, and he tried to command respect. But he also knew that respect was earned, and he was still the ‘new guy on the block.’ Still, his rank and position gave him the authority, but that was not good enough. The Captain had made it clear when Sideman reported on board that he had a lot to learn. However, Sideman knew that he could not let the doubt in his abilities show because the crew might lose faith in his authority, and he did not need that. Sideman nodded to everyone and said,
“Please take a seat because we do not have a lot of time.”

Lt. Commander Michael Sideman, XO

William gave the first officer a polite nod and turned his attention to the Aliens “Now as we have not had a chance to meet allow me to introduce myself” He started in his soft Scottish brogue “I am Leftenant Commander William Grey, I am the ships, Chief Science Officer, It is my job to study new things and ask questions. Now this led me to question this alien being that visited our ship, this was of course after we captured it” He let that hang in the air as he took a slow sip from his cup of tea “Now according to it you are a pair of bounty hunters attempting genocide against its species. It also mentioned that it was due to your influence that our helmsman locked our ship and promptly committed suicide” He stared at the two beings, his face a blank canvas free of any and all emotion “Although I suppose a more apt description would be that he was murdered.”

CSO, 2O

The Calmbacs looked at each other. Confusion seemed to radiate off of them. Their leader spoke. “Bounty hunters, perhaps. The only kind that can catch this dangerous entity. It is a mind-stealer, to best translate the word. It comes from another dimension but resides in the minds of material beings as a symbiote. Normally they are relatively harmless, but this one has a tendency to force harm upon those it inhabits. Like your helmsman.”

-Fate

Kanina tilted her head, but remained silent against the wall. Why were they the only ones who could catch the symbiote. Were they also from the other dimension?
-Kanina Dran, CNS

William’s lips curled into a smile, a joyless empty smile “Now that’s what I thought at first but the sequence of events didn’t make sense. If this mind stealer of yours was indeed fleeing you why would it cripple our ship when as soon as that happened we came across you floating around in space.” He took another sip from his tea “Also the helmsman who shot himself could only do so because an armed officer handed him the weapon wich who then had no memory of the event, which would imply being able to take control of several individuals an ability this creature has not displayed during our observations” He lowered the cup into its saucer with a soft clink “Unfortunately we don’t have enough evidence because we simply don’t understand either your abilities nor those of this mind-stealer, right now it’s your words against its. OR frankly, it’s your actions against its.”

He had reached the end of his speech now it was time for the bait “Now the creature has left its host and left our ship, it did so peacefully without harming him despite clearly being able to, I guess my final question is now that it has left our ship what are your intentions?”

CSO, 2O

“You might call it a post hypnotic suggestion that forced your officer to surrender his weapon. An affliction of the mind that wears away at the will. Why did it stop? It is a psychopath, not a fool. Allow us simply to examine the former host. The longer the two were bonded, the more evidence the mind-stealer might have left. In his mind. We may as well be able to correct the damage it leaves behind.” The Calmbacs waited for the Chernov crew’s reply.

bump to keep it up

OOC: Sorry, I am a little lost since my LOA. So we have all (except for the Captain) gathered in the conference room and the aliens are explaining why the NE at the start of the sim shot himself. Is all that correct?

Sideman, XO

OOC: basically. Mwezi is also missing, since he’s ostensibly going to be the one who is “still possessed”
- Miri

OOC: To clarify, yes. The aliens are offering explanations and possibly assistance with your mental parasite problem.

-GM

IC: Looking at everyone in the room, Sideman knew that something had to be done to bring this situation to a close.

“So what do you need from us to help you” he asked?

Michael Sideman, XO

Kanina shifted slightly. “Sir, the mental well being of everyone on this crew is my responsibility. I wouldn’t consider it in the Captains’ best interest to let random aliens enter his mind.” They didn’t know the alien’s qualifications, their capabilities, or even their intentions. “No offense to you. I wouldn’t suggest anyone entering his mind right now.”
-Kanina Dran, CNS

The calmbacs looked as though they were discussing something, but no words were heard. “You may reject our assistance. And we will leave peacefully. We make no guarantees for the mind-stealer or what it will do once we have gone.”

-Fate

Sideman looked around for more advice. This was a big decision. But he figured that is why they gave him the pips. Looking at the aliens Sideman said, “Do you guarantee the safety of my crew?”

Sideman, XO

“We will. We will harm no one and once the mind-stealer is located, we will remove it without harming any of you.” They awaited their answer.

-Fate

Bump

Knowing that his decision could either go very wrong over very right, the XO made his decision,

“Very well, proceed. But use me…not anyone else.”

Lt. Commander Michael Sideman, XO

William shifted in his seat “Commander, I don’t think that will be of much use. The creature did not, as far as we are aware, influence you. It was in direct control of the Captain and according to them in control of our helmsman and security officer. But Ensign Dran is correct, there is considerable risk and I’m not certain protocol allows for telepathic aliens to rummage around a Starfleet Captain’s mind” He turned slightly towards the two ‘bounty hunters’ “How would the healing procedure differ from traditional medicine?” He asked the two.

CSO, 2O

The calmbacs frustration was becoming palpable, though their tone remained calm. “By using the mind-stealer’s telepathic methods, we may reverse the damage the same way it was done. Imagine you can either swim across an ocean or take a boat. Swimming may technically be possible, but it will likely fail, and the boat is safer.”
