Kanina walked in, a little flustered. Her session had run over, and she had run to make it. “Good morning.”
-Kanina Dran, CNS

“You’re half-right.” growled the CMO and he took a long drag from the coffee mug.

Bridie came in about that time, murmured a hello and good morning to those around and took her seat. She’d sent word to Blaze to join them. She just hoped he wasn’t gonna be late. “Morning all.”

Chris smiled at both of them. “Well the others will just have to be caught up. We will begin. For those of you that have been on this vessel for two or years or so, might recognize certain stars, nebulae and planets that look familiar. We are indeed on a course to Galdor. We should arrive in about a week, 5 days to be precise. There is a situation on the planet that is critical for our own technology combined with theirs to help out our friends.”

Chris looked back to Mwezi. “Excuse me.” With that he pushed his chair back some and stood up and went to the back wall and was silent for a few minutes but everyone in the room could sense that he was trying real hard what to say next, especially Kanina, if she was so inclined. He nodded his head before turning around like he agreed with something he was thinking.

“Crew. This is not a sanctioned mission. Starfleet knows that I am taking this vessel to Galdor but they do not know why. I myself will take care of that problem and anything that comes from it. Rest assured this is not mutiny and I am not going rogue. Well maybe rogue to some, But when I heard of the situation that happened there and we were just flying around taking sensor scans instead of an actual mission, then I, not anyone of you, but I decided to take the Chernov to go help. Lieutenant Mwezi will fill you all in from here on out. But let me make this clear as glass before he speaks or we go farther. If you do not want to be part of what I am going to do, then we will put you all on a shuttles and let you go in the opposite direction. There will be no blame or shame on your parts if you do not come along. After all you have careers to mind to. I just ask that you do not interfere with what I am about to do until you get back to Earth or the nearest spaceport. If you do, then I will have you locked up until the shuttles are ready. I hope I made myself clear. So the question is after Mwezi tells you a brief synopsis of what’s going on without giving away too much detail, Is are you with us or not? I now yield to Lieutenant Mwezi.”

If Kanina is still inclined, she would sense that this is not the first time Chris has stolen a Federation Starship.

Captain Chris Taggart CO

Kanina smiled in approval and inclined her head respectfully to the captain. She had never been one for following rules she disagreed with and stealing a Starship for the greater good was certainly the sort of mission she could get behind.
-Kanina Dran, CNS (Rebel?)

“Yes sir.” Ensign Valharra replied to Lt. Mwezi. Then he sat and observed the room and the conversations that all the department heads and their partners were having. He paid attention to what the captain was saying, and decided, he wasn’t going to go anywhere. He trusted both Captain Taggart and Lt. Mwezi.
Ensign Valharra, security

Sideman was always going to support the Captain, at least in front of the crew. Even if he disagreed with a decision, unless he was doing something crazy, Sideman was with him. Today, is no exception. Hence, Sideman did not offer any opinion, at least not yet.

Sideman, XO

Mwezi cleared his throat, then stepped over to stand next to the Captain. “Ah, well…” he glanced over the assembled group. “The specifics are… classified, but basically, there was an… incident aboard one of our orbital science platforms. It was apparently an explosion, but I’ve done some research and the platform in question is still there… not exploded, clearly. We are going to investigate that accident. The Galdori Government has officially dismissed the incident. Our Captain has decided that we are going to investigate the situation. If you wish to depart, as the Captain had offered, now is your chance.”

Mwezi allowed several moments for anyone who may have decided to not come on this unsanctioned mission, then gave the Captain a slight glance before continuing. He grabbed one of the chairs and turned it around so that he was straddling it when he sat. “The truth is, I know a lot more about this than probably any other individual out there, because one of the individuals who died in the so-called explosion was my Fiancée.” He paused for a moment, looking down at the table and trying to silently motivate himself to continue.

“Kula, who I think a few of you have met on our previous visits to Galdor, was a Scientist involved in a highly experimental research project, looking into a new method of Teleportation. It is very hush-hush. I shouldn’t know this. You shouldn’t know this. But Kula trusted me, and I’m trusting all of you. This new method, should it work, would be able to bypass Transporter Jammers. It would be able to cut through modern shielding, have wider range than modern Transporter system. This system is part of why Starfleet wants Galdor to join the Federation, and it is also the precise reason why my people are so hesitant to join the Federation. We are worried about this getting into the wrong hands. Hands like Alexander Marcus. This system is the reason I am a part of this crew.”

Lt. Mwezi, Tactical Chief

Smiling in approval Michael commented, “I would assume we are going to run silent from Starfleet. Which, if I am correct, means we cannot truthfully answer inquiries. In short, what are we going to tell HQ? Don’t get me wrong, I am with you…just I just think we should all be on the same page.”

Sideman, XO

William listened carefully to Mwezi’s explanation, he remembered going to Galdor for the Armory Chiefs award ceremony a while back but didn’t recall meeting with this fiance. Somewhere in the back of his mind a voice reminded him to show empathy for the loss. He didn’t say anything yet, still mulling the situation.

CSO, 2O

Kane snorted loudly and then started laughing just as loud, his eyes locked on Taggart and Mwezi. After a long moment, he said “You both really like making things harder than they need to be, don’t ya? And you and I both know, Taggart, that your record for lying to the brass isn’t exactly stellar.” Taggart and Kane had been on enough ‘side jobs’ with their other bosses for him to have had to deal with the fallout from Taggart’s often time ‘colorful’ reports. “Oh, and Sideman there is right by the way. If we have gone off course and we don’t tell them something… ‘specially with your record -” and he thrust his chin at the Captain, “- they’ll have every ship within range looking for us. Yeah… I give us about twelve hours after we arrive before everyone here is arrested and the ship impounded until they can swap out the crew for someone they can trust more.” and he laughed again. No one else save Taggart would see the look in his eye… a look Taggart knew well.

Kane, of all people, had a plan.

Kane, CMO
