Kane cast a glance towards him and scowled, and then he looked back at the tricorder and finished what he was doing in a flurry of movements. He swung his feet off the table and went to Mwezi’s side and ran the scanner over him. “Well, s&^%. Dammit Warren! You were supposed to be faking it, you big furball!” he looked at the tricorder and cursed loudly. He stood up and went to the wall and activated the comms. [O] Kane to Sickbay. Medical team to Conference Room on the double. [C]

Kane, CMO

Chris rushed over to help Kane

Captain Chris Taggart CO

“It… wasn’t intentional, I assure you,” Mwezi grunted through gritted teeth, hands against his temples. “It… feels like a hole… In my head…”

Mwezi, CTO

William watched the twitching with interest, there was only a slight hint of concern at first followed by a more intense curiosity. Another nudge from the back of his head reminded him to at least show outward signs of empathy which he did, for a moment. Another nudge from somewhere deeper urged him to make a joke but he decided against it. He again refrained from speaking.

CSO, 2O

“No more bear claws for you!” Chris quipped. Kanina! Bring some water for Mwezi to drink please?” Chris was concerned about his friend.

Captain Chris Taggart CO

Kanina nodded, retrieving a glass of water from the replicator. She knelt down beside the two, passing the water off. She moved to sit cross-legged but aborted the movement, deciding to ask first. “May I?” She usually avoided sensing the entire ship at once, but for the sort of precision she needed she would have no choice.
-Kanina Dran, CNS

“Thank you Kanina. And may you what? Sit there? I don’t have a problem with that. You’re a doctor after all.” Chris had an idea of what she really was referring to but wanted her to ask it instead of just a vague notion to it.

Captain Chris Taggart CO

Kanina flushed lightly. So many years away from home and she still wasn’t used to having to speak aloud. “I was asking Lieutenant Mwezi to allow me to… psychically investigate.”

Mwezi nodded slightly to Kanina, understanding what she was asking. He wasn’t sure if it would be effective in finding anything, but it was worth a try. The intense expression on his face dropped off, but he still held his hands to his temples. He stared at Kanina. “I… know…”

Sideman continued to listen to the mission brief. He kept quiet but had a look on his face of concern. He would follow the Captain to hell and back, but to go off without Starfleet’s approval almost seemed like a serious breach of protocol, so he thought that he would finally say something.

“Sir, as the Executive Officer, I think I should point out that we should, at least, notify Starfleet of our intentions. What if we get into trouble out there? Starfleet would not even know to start looking for us. Again, I am with you, these are just my thoughts.”

Michael Sideman, XO

“Noted, but…” he stopped when Grey spoke up.

William finally spoke up “Starfleet knows we’re going to Galdor but not as to why, if they were made aware you would be given orders to relieve the Captain of his duties and failing that I would be ordered to do so” He stated matter-of-factly “However if we remain in regular contact with the fleet they should notice if we suddenly drop of the grid”

CSO, 2O

“True. Both of you have valid points.” He stated standing up slowly still making sure Mwezi was OK. When he thought he was on he turned to them all. “Commander Sideman. You and Commander Grey will do what you’re supposed to do. I will not have any ill will towards anyone doing what they think is right. Having said that, please at least wait until we can get Mwezi to Galdor before bringing me in and or taking over command. He really needs to get there.”

Turning to look down at Kane and then to the assembled crew again. “Doctor Kanina. Please notify Starfleet about Lieutenant Mwezi’s condition and that we are on our way to Galdor to have him treated since we lack the proper means to do so here. It’s not entirely fabricated but if you don’t feel comfortable relaying the message, then I’ll do it myself.”

Kane glared at Taggart and shook his head, allowing the hair to fall across his face as he mumbled “Shoulda stayed in New Detroit…”

Kanina nodded. “A fabrication Captain? I can’t imagine what you mean.” She was already drafting the message, thinking of how best to emphasize her confusion.
-Kanina Dran, CNS

Commanders Sideman and Grey. We will keep in adequate contact with Starfleet since we will not be totally going dark. I hope that that satisfies everyone for the time being?”

As soon as Chris was done talking the medical team should up to take Mwezi to Sickbay.

Captain Chris Taggart CO

When Kanina sensed Mwezi normally, she would find him to be somewhat of a black-box to her empathic senses. The Galdori emotional cortex operates on a totally different level to most humanoids, making it difficult for the average empath to locate or sense their emotions. However, certain baselines could be determined through time and exposure, allowing an experienced Empath to understand the emotions given off by a Galdori. Right now, Mwezi’s emotions weren’t blocked off from her senses. They were simply… gone. Where once there was a sense of something, however difficult to read, there was now a strong sense of emptiness.

Mwezi, CTO

As the medical team prepared to transport Mwezi, Kane stood up and glared at the assembled officers. “Idiots… always overthinking when the answer is right there in front of you.” and he went to the wall and activated the comms. [O] CMO to Bridge. Send the following message to Star Fleet Medical and Fleet Command. We have an injured Galdorian suffering from acute onset but unconfirmed neurological compromise. Medical Library is insufficient to fully diagnose or create treatment plan. All indicators are that the issue must be treated by native medical personnel. In agreement with the Commanding Officer and under medical emergency authority, we are hereby changing course in order to provide the best possible care for the patient. Chernov out. Send it Priority One. CMO out [O] and he shut down the comms. Looking at the medics he said “Get him to sickbay.” and then he looked at the officers assembled in the room.

“Seriously… every last one of you would overthink it if you were on fire.” and he stomped out of the room after the medics. As he left, he shouted over his shoulder “Now when they ask you can tell them where we’re going and they won’t care… except that we get there fast.”

Kane, CMO

William turned towards the doctor as he left “The physical embodiment of rash decisions” He said to no one in particular. He turned to the Captain “Unless there’s anything else I’d like to return to my lab. Until we get to Galdor there’s little for me to do on the Bridge”

CSO, 2O
