The halls were unfamiliar to Lukas. He had served on his previous ship, the USS Sovereign since he graduated from the academy. That made three years. And being the only ship he’d served on, he’d become quite used to the Sovereign’s layout. Now he had to learn a whole new ship’s layout. A whole new crew. How… irritating. His previous CSO had been a bit of a… how does one say it? A mad scientist. And yet, somehow, he’d miss the chaotic environment that was the Sovereign’s labs. The noisy echo of chemical booms and the bits of counter missing from spilled acids.

The halls of the Chernov were silent just then, even as he rounded the corner towards the science labs. A few crew members passed him on the way, but he paid them little attention. He’d rather focus on the meeting. This ship was big compared to the Sovereign. The halls were long and wide and brightly lit. He almost wished he were back aboard the old ship. But no, he thought, this was the right move. He’d grown too comfortable there. It was time to move on, and this opportunity was a good one.

Finally, Lukas arrived at the door to the CSO’s office, and he wasted no time ringing the door’s buzzer. Then, he awaited the response patiently. Once those doors opened, he’d get his first look at exactly what sort of person he’d be reporting to during his time on the Chernov. To him, this was quite an important moment. First impressions were everything. This was why his hair was done neatly. He’d had it cut during the transfer, so it would look neat, and then he’d spent half an hour that morning gelling it into the perfect look. He was clean, his uniform spotless and ironed. He stood with a perfect, straight posture, just outside the door.

The Chernov’s Science lab was a small space compared to most other ships, it had no Specialized tools or equipment and was mostly designed for general Scientific Study. There were only a handful of Scientists working there at the moment, mostly around some equipment or computers. Interestingly enough there were maybe a dozen or so whiteboards scattered around with several complex formulae and equations written on them. The CSO’s office was in the corner, its window blinds were closed giving its occupant some privacy. After only a moment Kostas would hear a voice call “Enter” From behind the door.

Lukas entered the office as soon as he heard the okay to do so.

The Office itself was large enough to fit an L shaped desk, two chairs on the other side, and a medium-sized cabinet. Behind the desk sat a thin young man in a bright blue uniform, his brown hair was precisely combed and his general appearance seemed immaculate. He looked up at Kostas and bright green eyes measured him up. He looked young, far too young to be a ships Chief Science officer, let alone have the silver sleeve bands of a Lieutenant Commander, yet so he did. If anything he seemed to be about the same age as Kostas. After a moment of silence, the thin man pointed to a seat “Lieutenant Kostas I presume?” His accent was softly Scottish and his tone was almost entirely without emotion.

Taking in the office for just a moment, Lukas returned his focus to the CSO. Immaculate and… promoted quick. Nice. Lukas took the seat the man pointed him to, maintaining his perfect posture as he sat. “That is correct, sir,” He said. His own accent was American, though his ancestry was quite clearly Greek. He waited for the CSO’s response before saying anything else, taking one more look around the office. It seemed very empty. That with his impression gave Lukas the impression this was not a very… sentimental sort of man.
