Blaze spent hours designing and making some blueprints of what the regulators will look like where they will go and what type of programming they will have. He scheduled a meeting for his DH the next day soon the day was here he was ready. That morning he had himself an early breakfast make sure he was well groomed and his uniform was on properly. He walked into engineering with his briefcase and waited for his DH to come in.

Ensign Alex Blaze (Engineer)

Bridie came in, coffee in hand and nodded to Blaze. “Come on in. I have a bit before morning shift briefing. What’s on your mind?” She settled behind her desk, an eyebrow raised at the site of the archaic briefcase. She shook her head and turned on her console while waiting to hear what he had in mind.

Blaze started “well last week you remember the power transfer I did over unloaded some of the EPS conduit‘s and I spent the rest of the day fixing my mistake. I had a long good look at the inside and will like to make a few regulators they can be programmed to send the right amount of energy through the system about overloading the grid” he said as he opened his briefcase and showed the CE Some basic designs and schematics unaware of the regulators can go. He then continued “I have already talked this over with the captain and he gave me the green light for this but there are some finer bit of engineering that I need help with so I would like to make the prototype with you”

Ensign Alex Blaze (Engineer)

Bridie took the schematics and glanced at them. “First off, Ensign. You aren’t to go to the Captain before me, anymore. Do you understand? I am your direct supervisor and the next in your Chain of Command. And if you can’t remember and follow that, perhaps we need to reeducate you on the way things work in Star Fleet.” She set the plans down and looked at him. “Second, I will look into this and let you know. As far as I know, the plasma injectors are already in place to do just what you propose these to do.” She tapped the schematics on her desk. “The overload was caused by not shutting down the proper injectors before entering the system. I won’t just start adding tech where proper procedures would have been sufficient.”

She set the plans aside and leaned back in her seat. “I would recommend, if you are interested in learning and improving our systems, you perhaps try taking the specs of the ship and working on ways to work on the systems in a safer manner without manipulating what’s already in place. I know you are eager, Blaze. But you need to do a lot of catching up on this ship to put yourself in the actual spot your falsified background had you working in. Now I’m not saying starships don’t need improvements. But the improvements need to be on existing systems, not adding more steps just to sidestep already established protocols. Do you understand what I mean?” Her voice was calm and cool. She wasn’t mad. Rather, she was impressed by his enthusiasm. But his accident was a failure of procedure. And adding more regulators would only give him and others a reason to continue to sidestep safety protocols rather than doing the job right.

(I wasn’t really going over your head it was in conversation me and the captain had in the mess hall)

Blaze was A little slack-jawed. He thought that he has put that part of his pass behind him the falsified background he has already paid the price for that and he has been catching up a lot with the engineer in team. He thought that she trusted him but he felt like she only sees him as not a star fleet officer. But he was taking courses and has pass the Starfleet exam. So why does she bring up his falsified background if it’s not standing anymore.

Without saying another word he was close the briefcase and walked out of her office. Once he passed the trashcan very unhappily he slammed a briefcase in there and just left engineering. He was very upset.

Ensign Alex Blaze (Engineer)

The Captain was out walking around, checking out stations and saw Blaze storm out of Engineering. He got a look of concern on his face and put up his hands to try and stop Blaze. “Blaze! What’s wrong? Slow down.”

Captain Chris Taggart CO

Blaze Stormed past him and started to run his eyes were filling up with tears as he ran down the hall.
