The chime went off on Chris’s chair and he saw that they were only 20 minutes away from Galdor. Looking up and seeing Lt. Lovejoy he remarked. “Miss Lovejoy. Take us out of warp and into full impulse and stay on your current heading. Lt. Mwezi.” He said turning around to his friend. “We are 20 minutes out. DO you still want to bring the Chernov in or do you want Miss Lovejoy to do it?”

“Lovejoy is free to do her job, I’m not a helmsman, Captain.”

Turning back around he motioned for the Comm to open. [O]This is a priority Level One Message. To the Galdor Docking Station, this is Captain Chris Taggart of the Federation Starship Chernov. WE are 20 minutes out on full impulse and request permission to dock at your Station and disembark for a urgent meeting with your High Council. I repeat, this is a Priority level One message. Do you Copy?[O]

Captain Chris Taggart, CO

Mwezi looked at Taggart with wide eyes, surprised he was trying to get a meeting with the whole Council. That would be quite a feat if he did manage it.

It was a few moments before a reply came, audio only. [O]Orbital Docking Platform to Chernov, your request to dock has been approved. The coordinates for entry into orbit will be transmitted. Disembarkation onto Orbital Platforms has been approved, request to meet with High Council is under advisement. You will be transferred to Councilor Miv to discuss the nature of your request.[C]

Mwezi, CTO

William moved next to the Captain and put his hands behind his back. He was still getting used to functioning as the acting first officer, especially during a mission such as this. Now he couldn’t just allow others to make the decision, it was the Captain or him. “You sure you want to involve the Galdori council immediately” He said in a quiet tone “They might take it upon themselves to call Command and ask questions”

CSO, 2O (aXO)

“Command already has a reason.” came a harsh voice from the rear of the bridge. Kane stood there, surly and angry looking as was the norm. “Medical emergency. Pretty straight forward. Now stop messing around and get us parked.”

Kane, CMO

William turned around to face Kane, unphased by the Doctors surly appearance “If this was a simple medical emergency then the Galdori might wonder why we’re involving their heads of government.” He explained calmly before turning to the viewscreen “IF Starfleet Command decides that our presence is not necessary for Mwezi to be healed then we could simply be ordered away. You could argue that your expertise is necessary for this but it is still a risk”

CSO, 2O (aXO)

Kane handed him a PaDD and said “Here, all the explanation you need.”

On the PaDD was an outline of Mwezi’s symptoms and and a proposed diagnosis. But there was a note saying that the diagnosis was consistent with symptoms of ‘Empathic Withdrawal Syndrome’, yet the patient had not met with the known prerequisites for contracting the disorder . As this was potentially a new syndrome, it was imperative that representatives of the government of Galdor, particularly the public health sector, should be on hand at arrival to assist.

Kane, CMO

William examined the PaDD for a moment before handing it back to the Doctor “Good work doctor” He said simply.

Mwezi held back, staying in his spot near Chris’s Chair. He didn’t want to get between a conversation with Kane and Grey. He was fairly certain of the contents of the PaDD, but he waited for the rest of the conversation to play out.

After about 5 minutes, leaving the ship at 15 minutes till planetary orbit, the communications panel lit up with an incoming call from the Galdori Government.

Mwezi, CTO

Ensign Valharra sat at tactical and watched as the conversation happened.

William looked back at the comms officer “Main viewscreen, please” He said in his more polite voice.

CSO, 2O (aXO)

OOC: I’m very sorry.

IC: Chris shook his head and looked around. “What? Oh! Yes. On screen. Thank you Commander. I just phased out there for a moment. I don’t know what happened. What’s going on?”

Captain Chris Taggart CO

The familiar face of a Hatriku female with crimson scales lit up the viewscreen. Councilor Miv, as promised. It wasn’t easy to read the face of a Hatriku, but there was a sternness to her expression, almost like a disapproving teacher. [C]Captain Taggart. How… lovely to see you once more. I trust that you have a very good reason to request a meeting of the full High Council…[C]

Chris looked around like he was being admonished by Professor McGonogall from Hogwarts. But before he could say anything Mwezi stepped in.

Mwezi stepped forward slightly, interrupting before Taggart could do or say anything too embarrassing. There was a slight level of panic in his voice as he tried to pare this down to a more manageable situation. “It’s a matter of some sensitivity, your honour. I was unaware that my Captain would be requesting such a gathering until he had already done so. If you don’t mind me saying, Captain… I would prefer a smaller meeting. Perhaps focusing on Councilors Miv, Zish, and perhaps Or?”

Miv tilted her head slightly, glancing from Captain to officer. [C]Myself, Zish, and Or. An interesting combination. So you wish to discuss research and health as well as my own specialization of extra-planetary diplomacy. I am certainly intrigued.[C]

Chris nodded to Mwezi in approval then looked back towards the view screen. [O} Yes Councilor. In my haste, I forgot your names and asked for the whole council instead of the ones I needed....we needed. My apologies. As your greatest officer stated, we need an urgent meeting with you and Councilors Miv, Zish, Or and yourself. I cannot speak of the details until we are in private chambers and in a session with you first. I have a small contingent of my officers coming along as well. This is urgent Councilor. Please? [O]

Captain Chris Taggart, CO

Ensign Valharra sat at his station, watching the conversations happening, waiting for her answer. this was his first time on the bridge for something like this. The Vulcan showed no signs of his emotions about the situation.
Ensign Valharra, security

Councilor Miv looked at Chris with a stern expression, [C]I would suggest that next time you speak with your officers before attempting to contact a specific Councilor. Regardless. We will meet with you.[C]

Miv

T’Aria stepped out from the turbolift onto the bridge and shot an impassive glance at Councilor Miv and Taggart. She wasn’t overtly telepathic nor skilled in the art of people-watching, but it didn’t take a mindreader to appreciate the austerity infecting Miv’s gaze.

[O] I understand Counselor. Thank you. We will meet you in your briefing room in ten minutes. Captain Taggart out.[O]. Once communications were off Chris let out a sigh of relief then stood to address the assembled crew. “Dang. Please let what just transpired here be a lesson in why it is important to do your just diligence before you speak. An error like mine could have cost us First Contact problems or the los of a possible friendship with another species. Thankfully, these people are wise and know how rash a human can be. Commander T’Aria. Please task all of the Department heads to assemble in the doing chamber entrance with at least one of their crew to assist them and to advise them to bring all the proper gear except for phasers. We will be disembarking in 10 minutes. I know that is not a lot of time but it should be given how we practice drills of this manner.”

William suppressed a tight smile, Captain Taggart did have a way of jumping the gun. It was a part of what made him such a great captain but also one of his greatest follies.

“Understood,” T’Aria nodded. She understood Taggart’s decision to leave weapons behind, but that didn’t stop her from considering the potential hazards of his request. First contact, and subsequent discussions, were dangerous waters riddled with nuances. One wrong move could manifest into catastrophe. Although she trusted Council Miv’s people wouldn’t pose a threat to the away team, T’Aria had her reservations. They would need to be - as Taggart had unwittingly stressed - diligent.

“Captain,” T’Aria returned her gaze to Taggart. “Perhaps it would be wise to invite Dr. Dran along, as well. She is particularly versed in interpersonal, and therefore, diplomatic communication. Her skills may prove useful with the Galdori government.”

Chris stopped and turned around once inside the turbo lift and before the doors closed he spoke to the XO. “As of right now she falls under medical and is a doctor. She will be with Kane and we will keep her abilities to ourselves for right now so we can have an ACE in the hole. So bring her. Doors close. Docking bay.”

Turning to NE Lt. Johnson Hulk. “Lt Hulk. You have the Bridge while we are gone. I want you to continue to scan not only for ships, but for any anomalies, no matter how small or insignificant and use all bands and any means at your disposal. Now let’s rock.” Chris turned to head for the turbo lift.

Captain Chris Taggert, CO

Shortly after Taggart had made his journey to the Turbolift, T’Aria turned to palm the comm systems. [O] Bridge to all department heads, we have arrived at Galdor. Please assemble a team including yourself and one-to-two staff at the docking chamber for departure in 10 minutes. Bear in mind, we will be meeting with some of Galdor’s diplomats. So, all appropriate equipment are welcome, but weapons must be left behind. Bridge, out. [C]

Casting a final glance and terse nod at NLt. Hulk, T’Aria followed suit to the turbolift.

– T’Aria, XO

William send a message to Kostas to join them in the docking bay with two tricorders, he didn’t really need much equipment and a phaser was next to useless attached to his hip so nothing was really different.

CSO, 2O

OOC: Is this including Kanina? Some ships consider counseling a department, but since we’re approaching it experimentally…
-L

Ooc: i think it means every player character
-mir

OOC: I’m not positive, but I’ll add in a comment to (hopefully) snag a spot for Dran. - Trin

OOC: Thank you Trinity!
-L

Kane waited for the rest of them to depart. He then went to the communications console and called Sickbay. [O] Nurse Bell, meet me at the docking chamber. Bring two kits for planet-side operations. And bring my black bag from my office. You know the one. [C] and then he went to the turbolift and headed to docking.

Kane, CMO

– T’Aria, XO

Mwezi stood behind the Captain’s chair for a moment longer. “Well, I will meet you at docking,” he muttered, turning and stepping into the Turbolift with Kane.

Mwezi, Sec.
