“And first we get Mwezi near the spot his girlfriend skipped out of reality at, and see if we can’t get him some relief. Yeah, that sounds like a great idea! Let’s. Go. Please.” Kane said acerbically.

Kane, CMO

“That’s not going to work, Doctor. They would need to be in physical contact,” Or replied, confused as to how this man thought Mwezi being on the research platform would be of any help. “We need to keep him somewhere with significant medical equipment, and the Research Platform is not that. It’s also… not entirely structurally stable at the moment.”

“That would be helpful, Councilor.” She flatly agreed and turned back to the away team.

“Cmdr. Grey, Ensign Blaze – accompany Dr. Kane’s team and the councilor to the orbital station. Keep us apprised of your status.” She kept orders brief. “Lt. Lovejoy, Ensigns Valharra and Gruver – with me.”

The Vulcan turned to Zish and echoed the doctor’s sentiment with a quick, “shall we?”

– T’Aria, XO

OOC: With Travis LOA, I’m going to assume Taggart will accompany/lead one of the teams. :)

William gave T’Aria a nod “Yes, sir” He said before turning around and quickly following after Kane and the others.

CSO, 2O

Zish nodded and gestured for everyone to follow him. He led them to a Shuttle dock, where a young Laleri pilot was leaning against the wall, looking a little bored. “Anyone who is going down to the surface, Shilo will take you. You’ve gotten their destinations, Scout? Those going to the Orbital Station, I’ll be on the Helm.”

Evelyn remained unbelievably silent and idly observed the senior officers interactions while listening to the alien’s story unfold. This was her first, first contact mission and it was a learning opportunity for her across several different levels. The chances of her messing something up were highly probably if she spoke her mind in this case, so she opted not to do so to avoid an angry Captain and alien race. She definitely did not want to have anything to do with their Sar-tep project as it was in a sarcastic way a hard pass in regards to her own interest in the project or even in volunteered participation. In her mind, transporter technology had come quite a long way up to this point. If it was not broken, why try to change it up? Suddenly her thought process was interrupted by her executive officer’s voice. Evelyn’s emerald green eyes darted upward to meet T’Aria’s gaze, “Yes sir.” Evelyn then walked toward T’Aria, stopped, and stood by her side until they were to embark on their mission.

Kane’s eyes moved back and forth for some time, watching people hem and haw about what do and where to go. Finally he said loudly “Taggart, move your butt. We need to get a look at whatever black hole ate Mwezi’s girlfriend for lunch. Let’s go already.” and he moved to Zish and said “Fire it up. We got sick crew. Let’s go.” and he looked at Taggart and jerked his head towards their shuttle. “Stop standing, start going. Time is ticking, boys and girls.” and he climbed into the shuttle.

Kane, CMO

“Yes, Ma’am.” Ensign Valharra responded to his name to be called and he stood beside the XO and Ensign Gruver.
Ensign Valharra, Security

The opening into the shuttle was unlike what they might be used to. There were periodic holes in the floor, out of which emerged ladders. While Shilo led Gruver, Lovejoy, Valharra, and T’Aria down one of the ladders, Zish led the rest to a different hole.

When they entered, they would find a vessel very different from what they might be used to in Starfleet Ships. Even the Orbital Platforms had a kind of utilitarian, metal structure similar to what they might be used to, but the shuttle was different. It had an almost organic feel to it, with ribbing on the walls, a mottled texture to the ceiling, and a smoothness to the shape of everything that didn’t seem manufactured. There was a soft purplish-blue light coming from the walls, and inspection would reveal that the mushroom-shaped lights were not just shaped like mushrooms. They were living organisms. This vessel was different from the other vessel in that it was smaller, without a separated cockpit section. There was only one pilot seat, into which Zish placed himself.

The rest of the seats were up against the walls, seemingly grown out of the walls and facing towards the centerline of the shuttle. The surface felt like metal, although it was warmer than one would expect metal to be. A soft hum - probably the engine of the shuttle - could be heard around them. “Please, take a seat, and we’ll get going,” Zish requested.

William gently put a hand on the strange wall material, he’d never been in a pod of anything not made out of any kind of metal. He made a mental note to ask about this strange material later before sitting down in a seat indicated to him without a word.
..

Once everyone was safely seated, Zish placed his hands onto a dome that was right in front of his seat. The ladder to the shuttle dock was pulled down automatically, and a thick membrane shut off access through the port. Another membrane was retracted on the exterior of the vessel, revealing see-through portions of the hull. They now had a view of the space portion of the shuttle dock. Similar vessels of various sizes were all around them, attached to the ceiling, while below was nothing but a metal mesh between them and space itself. The passengers could even see the planet below them - a planet with similar blues and greens and whites to Earth.

OOC: there’s a Main sim thread for you, Valharra: https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf5/chernov/posts/131652/

Will looked at the planet coming in, there was something different about approaching a planet in a shuttle than watching it from the far distance of a Starship bridge, the way it came closer and closer and seemed to get bigger without the shuttle moving. Sometimes he thought it was far better to fly to a planet than transporting. The views were always far better that way.

CSO, 2O

Although the planet seemed to get bigger for a moment, the approach pulled off quite quickly and they began to ascend, Zish honing in on the orbital research platform they were heading to.

OOC: [will explain more about it soon]

Kane watched and waited. The shuttle was weird, but he knew that it would… probably… get them where they needed to go.

Kane, CMO

Chris was seated and looked at the awe inspiring planet before them. These were times he loved being in shuttles. “Zish. Will the radiation be acceptable to humans on that station or will we need suits?”

Captain Chris Taggart CO

“If you are referring to solar radiation, it will not be an issue. the structure of the station, while damaged, is still in good enough shape to shield against solar radiation and contain an atmosphere. As for ionizing radiation from the accident zone, it is negligible outside of a three-foot radius around the pad, and even that is contained within a forcefield. You will not require suits.” Zish explained, as they flew up on an approach vector to the orbital research platform. It was tilted to the side a little, and there were a few small vessels attached by tethers to the station - they seemed to be correcting its orbit to prevent destabilization or descent into the atmosphere. The station itself had a long spire going up, and another spire going down, with a disk-shaped section in the middle. There didn’t seem to be any visible damage, other than the odd tilt.

Kane watched as the shuttle came around and made its way to the platform. As they settled down, he said “So is the listing form the accident then? Or was there something else that happened?” and he unstrapped and grabbed his bag.

Kane, CMO

“From the accident. The implosion damaged the internal stabilizers in the platform,” Zish explained, bringing them up against the platform, then docking with it. The hole in the ceiling opened right up again and the ladder pushed up into the research platform’s docking room.

Once inside, they were greeted with a similar visual design to the larger docking station. “We make our Space Stations with the same methods that you use to make all your ships. Our living ships dislike being tied down to a single point.”
