Umbri took a deep breath as her shuttlecraft approached the USS Chernov, her first assignment since graduating from Starfleet Academy. She was nervous for a number of reasons, but most notably the following:
1. It was her first assignment from Starfleet period.
2. It was her first assignment as an official Security Officer.
3. Umbri didn’t make friends easily due to being cut off by her parents after a falling out. She liked to keep to herself and her music when she wasn’t burying herself in her work. But since she’s a Security Officer, she’ll have to talk to people on a fairly regular basis, which could be a challenge for her.Umbri sighed. “And this is why I don’t like being alone with my thoughts,” she said to herself, beginning her transmission.

SecurityNE Davidson, the bay coordinator heard the transmission. [O]Shuttlecraft Tiberian. This is the USS Chernov. Permission granted. [O] looking around after sending an alarm to get people out. [O]Shuttlecraft Tiberian. This is the USS Chernov. Opening bay doors now. [O]

Umbri carefully piloted the shuttlecraft through the bay doors and landed safely inside Bay 3. “Thank goodness I took that extra course on shuttlecraft piloting,” she said. After grabbing her stuff and exiting the shuttlecraft, she made her way over to NE Davidson. “H-hi. I’m Ensign Umbri Zayne, the new Security Officer,” she said, shakily extending her hand.

SecurityHe looked surprised that she was introducing herself. Taking her and softly and shaking it. “Welcome aboard Ensign Zayne. I’m Davidson. The bay coordinator. Pleased to meet you. There is no CoS on board at the moment but when they arrive, you can report to them. For now the XO is in charge of security. She’s in a meeting right now. But feel free to look about.”

Umbri nodded. “Thank you, Davidson,” she said, exiting through the bay doors. Being as unfamiliar with the ship as she was, she didn’t really have a specific destination in mind. So Umbri just decided to simply walk around the ship to familiarize herself with the layout, taking note of important locations as she went.
