OOC: Wanted to do something to push Umbri to get to know her fellow crewmates, because she certainly needs the experience, lol!

IC:
After Lt. Commander T’Aria and Lt. Symar expressed interest in her piano piece, Umbri had all the motivation she needed to get it finished. But she still had yet to find a piano on the ship, so it was hard to work on the piece. ‘Maybe I’ll find something by looking at the map of the ship,’ she thought, pulling out her PaDD. She eventually found the Crew Lounge, which was reserved for recreational activities. After looking at what kind of events they held in the past, she saw that they had put on a production of Rocky Horror Picture Show (OOC: I really enjoyed reading that thread, by the way. But as a major musical theatre geek, I’m a little peeved that I missed out.). “Yeah, there’s definitely a piano in there. Crew Lounge it is,” Umbri said, following the map closely until she reached her destination. And sure enough, the object she was searching for was in the middle of the room. Grinning from ear to ear, Umbri pulled the current draft of her piece out of her bag and set the sheet music on the piano stand. ‘Alright, let’s see if this version is the one,’ she thought, placing her fingers on the piano. After a deep breath, Umbri let herself become lost in the music.

OOC: By the way, this is actually a piece that I composed IRL, and I decided to work it into here. I put the score and the audio file in a Google Drive folder for anyone to view. Enjoy!

Oftentimes when he wasn’t on duty, Lukas liked to hang out in the lounge. Usually by himself. The science officer was not much of a “people” person, and he often came off as rude. Some people did not like him that well. But inn the lounge, generally people seemed to leave him alone, making it an ideal place to hang out away from his quarters. Sometimes, someone would use the piano in the room. Not always, and usually they weren’t, well, that good at it.

But today, Ensign Zayne played a piece Lukas had never heard, and it seemed she had quite the skill with the versatile instrument. By no means was Lukas a big music geek, but didn’t everyone like some good music? Instead of silently getting up and moving away from the piano, Lukas simply closed his book and listened.

OOC: Something went wrong with the first link, so I’ll try sharing it again.

OOC: Sorry it took me so long to pick this back up. I was waiting to see if other people would join in.

IC:
When Umbri finished playing the piece, she smiled. “This version just might be a keeper,” she said to herself. Sensing another presence in the room, she turned to see Lt. Kostas sitting nearby, book in hand. He was one of the crewmen that she had yet to meet. “Oh, hi! Sorry if I was disturbing you. I was just going through my recently revised piano piece. I’m Ensign Umbri Zayne, the new Security Officer. Just arrived here a couple of days ago,” she said.

OOC: All good, I was hoping they would too

IC:
“No bother. Kostas,” he said, introducing himself. “I’m a Science Officer. By all means, continue with your… practicing.” He could hardly call it that, practicing. More like performing. What a wonder with a piano. If Umbri hadn’t mentioned it, he probably wouldn’t have known she’d just arrived. Though he was not the newest officer on the Chernov, Kostas did not know much of the crew. He didn’t generally go trying to meet people. That, and his personality wasn’t always agreeable. Brutally honest and generally quite blunt, he was not known for making friends. Or “kissing backsides” as the practice was known.
