“You—Denebian slime devil!” Sega’a seethed, combatting the urge to throw hands with the synthesizer that mocked him from the safety of a ‘standard issue’ label. “What’s so hard about stew?” His lips puffed up in a snarl. “It’s not even real!”Tending forward, the Orion took in a ragged, winded breath and prepared himself for another attempt. With a smile contorting his features, Sega’a attempted—for the ninth time—to synthesize a batch of beef stew-esque cubes. Once more, it clicked and moaned but failed to provide him with the multicoloured delicacy he demanded. He was starting to think he should’ve made it himself. No. He wouldn’t lose a battle to a machine.
“That’s it!” He pushed himself to his feet and made a beeline for the nearest comm panel. If he couldn’t coax stew out of the synthesizer, maybe there was someone who could. [O]Chef Sega’a to Engineering. I’m having a little trouble with my synthesizer friend. Could you send someone up to the general Mess to check it out?[C]

Umbri was having trouble sleeping that night, so she decided to make a trip to the messhall for a midnight snack. But upon entering, she saw Chef Sega’a at the comm panel requesting for an engineer to come fix one of the synthesizers. After he finished speaking, Umbri cleared her throat to make her presence known to the Orion.
“Um, excuse me? Ensign Umbri Zayne here. I was just coming down here for a midnight snack and noticed that you were having a little trouble. I’m not an Engineer, but is there anything I can do to help?” she asked.
