(Snip!)

Symar arched an eyebrow and placed the teacup back on his desk, “I consider him to be a patient more than a relative at this point, it would be illogical of me to let my emotions get the better of me.” As the conversation progressed further, Symar noted that the emotion he was feeling was beginning to come back under control.

-Lieutenant Symar: Chief Medical Officer-

Fleeting wrinkles gathered between her eyebrows, but they disappeared long before most would catch them. T’Aria knew this connection—this emotional tether—was the precise reason Federation systems prohibited physicians from taking relatives into their care. There was bias and bias was dangerous. But Symar engaged in a unique situation where she had to wonder: was emotion an inhibition or an advantage? When she spoke, there was a deceiving absentmindedness about her tone that didn’t match her thoughts. “What are your plans for the evening?”

— T’Aria, XO

Symar looked up, a nonchalant look on his face, “Aside from further research, I have no logical reason to stay awake at this hour, unless you require something of me Commander?”

-Lieutenant Symar: Chief Medical Officer-

“Oh,” T’Aria raised a dismissive hand, “I require nothing of you, Symar. My sparring partner did, however, cancel for the evening. Would you like to ‘tag along’ in their place?”

T’Aria couldn’t pinpoint where the idea came from. Was she inclined to offer a distraction from the turmoil surrounding his father’s condition? Did she welcome his company more than she realised? Perhaps his calm was a pleasant alternative to the ship’s hubbub. Although T’Aria knew better than to speculate, the truth was: she didn’t know.

– T’Aria

Symar arched an eyebrow, “You… spar?” The Vulcan noted that his counterpart did not seem like the kind of XO that would find herself in some deeply troubling combat situations; thus making Symar more intrigued.

-Lieutenant Symar: Chief Medical Officer-

“I find sparring a far more compelling and dynamic approach to balance than internalisation,” she resolved. T’Aria teetered on the verge of collapse, feeling utterly powerless against her emotions. They overwhelmed her—dominated her. But meditation was a bandaid. She needed to rechannel her tumult into something of equal vigour. And sparring happened to work. “Are you interested in a match?”

— T’Aria, XO

“I would find it to be a… facisnating experience. Do you require any medical assistance before or after a match?”

-Lieutenant Symar: Chief Medical Officer-

“No,” T’Aria rose and palmed the teacups from the tabletop, “but I suggest you have a medical team on standby.” If there was a hint of humour in her tone, she masked it with an impassive cast. “You may benefit from more—” she eyed him—“flexible attire. Why don’t we meet in gym at 2000?”

Consulting the clock to confirm her suspicions, T’Aria nodded. 2000 gave them about twenty minutes to prepare.

— T’Aria
OOC: This is a tad rushed, but feel free to set up the gym thread if you’d like! :)

“2000 is.. appropriate, I will see you then. Peace and long life.” Symar gave the XO the traditional gesture and made his way out of the room, the small feelimh of a blossoming relationship between the two officers again rising to the centre of his mind…

OOC: Will do! Might not be until tomorrow mind!

-Lieutenant Symar: Chief Medical Officer-
