“Leaving so soon, T?” Sega’a heaved a batch of monstrous blueberry biscuits from the Galley oven. “I was under the impression…” he shot her a dubious look, “…were going to hang around for tea and biscuits.”

“Oh.” T’Aria furrowed her eyebrows and consulted the nearest chronometer. “I’m afraid I do not..”

“Then take some with you!” Sega’a wore a delighted grin. “I’ll fetch you a create and you can take some to whatever fancy-schmansy meeting you’ve got lined up.” He ducked beneath the countertop. “I’m sure the folks will go wild over them! They’re a family recipe, you know?”

T’Aria’s lips parted in protest, but the chef’s incessant chatter refused her a moment to speak.

“I’ve got extra tea cups, too!” He shot his gaze over the countertop, shook his head, and returned to scrummaging. “Nah, that’s too much to carry. Ah! Here we are.” Sega’a dislodged a silicone crate from the cabinet, bouncing on his heels to transfer it to the countertop.

T’Aria stood with her hands stuck firmly behind her back. She tilted her head, watching and listening as Sega’a serenaded every biscuit with his chatter. Seconds passed before her bimbled over, crate in hand, and thrust it toward her.

“If that’s not enough, come back and I’ll give you more.” Sega’a hummed. “Anyway, I should probably let you go. You seem busy!”

“Sega’a…” T’Aria adjusted her grip about the crate, lifting her gaze to find the Orion staring expectantly at her. “…Thank you.”

“Sure thing, Commander! Let me know what they think.”

And so, it was with biscuits in hand and a vaguely amused expression on her face that T’Aria sauntered into Sickbay. She searched for somewhere to relinquish the chef’s goods, but eventually opted to approach Symar’s office. Lifting her elbow, she turned slightly to the side and pressed it to the chime.

— T’Aria, XO

“Enter,” Symar’s voice echoed from behind the door. When the XO entered, Symar inclined his head, “Commander, it is agreeable to see you at this hour.”

-Lieutenant Symar: Chief Medical Officer-

T’Aria watched the doors peel open, halting for an imperceptible moment, before ducking into Symar’s office. “Likewise,” she hummed to dismiss the emotion welling in her gut. “Compliments of Chef Sega’a,” she lifted the box containing enough pastries to satisfy Symar’s staff…then some. “Where would you prefer them?”

“How have you been settling in,” she asked and flattened the tunic ruffled by the pastry box.

— T’Aria, XO

OOC: Bump! – Trin

OOC: REALLY sorry! Time has been getting away from me!
OOC: No worries! Glad to have you back. :)

Symar took a seat in front of the XO and arched an eyebrow, “It has been an… interesting experience thus far.” Symar popped a small sweet dessert into his mouth, it had a very cinnamonish flavour to it. “I am.. grateful for the gift.”

-Lieutenant Symar: Chief Medical Officer-

“I’ll pass your compliments to the chef,” T’Aria assured with an absent wave of her hand. Settling into the chair across from him, she considered his choice of words. “Define…” an eyebrow crept dangerously close to her hairline, “‘interesting’.”

— T’Aria, XO

“I am not finding myself to be in disagreement with the human members of the crew as much as I would in other circumstances. I find that I am having to meditate on a more regular basis than most of the Vulcan crew.”

-Lieutenant Symar: Chief Medical Officer-

Concern flickered through T’Aria’s eyes, but she refused it the right to linger. “Please,” she tended forward, “could you explain to me these experiences?” She didn’t want to assume, but neither did she want to brush off what could be a conflict.

— T’Aria, XO

“In recent months, I have recently found myself not taking the most logical decisions to be my first… what is the human phrase? ‘Port of call?’”

-Lieutenant Symar: Chief Medical Officer-

“I imagine it’s been difficult for you. How are these…” T’Aria searched for the word, “lapses in logic affecting your interactions with the crew?”

— T’Aria, XO

“Not in a way that would inhibit my duties as Chief Medical Officer, my priority is still to the lives of every person aboard this ship.”

-Lieutenant Symar: Chief Medical Officer-

“Understood. If that changes, come to me.” T’Aria paused long enough to consider Symar. “What of your team? How are they are faring?”

— T’Aria, XO

“I… appreciate that Commander,” Symar replied, pushing the feelings he felt for the XO back to the edges of his mind. Getting onto the subject of business, he added, “I have found myself teaching my team as our mission progresses, which can be advantageous for the team as a whole. Each Doctor appears to be living up to their service record thus far.”

-Lieutenant Symar: Chief Medical Officer-

“A wise practice,” T’Aria assented. “I may be overstepping, but I found MCI drills and similar high-stakes exercises were effective in assessing and developing collaboration and skill. Should you require a different approach, it may be valuable to try.” The last MCI drill they conducted quickly descended to madness and a gutsy stunt by (then) Commander Taggart. But, it revealed cracks in their system and tested Med’s ability to improvise, adapt and overcome. “It sounds like your team is doing well. How are they beyond duty?” She asked in reference to recent events.

Symar paused for a second, in a moment that could’ve been mistaken for regret, ‘As is common,’ he began, ‘The Vulcan crew members interact a lot less with those of other species, due to wanting to meditate. I can recommend to rectify this, if you think it’s needed?’

-Lieutenant Symar: Chief Medical Officer-
