Lt. Sharvi had arrived back to the Chernov after getting released from the psych ward in Starfleet. The captain saved his quarters and a position on the security team for his return. He decided to get the hardest checklist done first, talking about his emotions as a Vulcan. He stepped to the counselor’s office and the door chimed letting the counselor know he was there.

OOC: Like we discussed, Rusty, I am going to assume this is T’Kul Valharra as Sharvi is in the wrong universe ;) – Ric

Kastarak called for the door to open, and Kastarak saw the Vulcan security officer. Kastarak towered above him, being almost a head taller than T’Kul Valharra. Kastarak noticed a surprise in himself that he did not quite recognize the officer. He knew of course of T’Kul Valharra, having read his file, and heard his name around. Yet, for some reason, quite unfathomable for Kastarak, he had never met (or even seen!) him before. It was agreeable to see him for this session. It was curious for Kastarak, too, that most of T’Kul Valharra’s file was retracted and kept under high security clearances that it made it rather difficult for Kastarak to assess his new client’s age, place of birth, and service record. What was the fuss with this man? Why was he so secret, yet serving as a “simple” officer on the Chernov?

“T’Kul Valharra, I presume,” Kastarak said as he welcomed his guest inside. “I am Ensign Kastarak, physician and counsellor on board. It is agreeable to meet you. Please have a seat.”

Kastarak gestured to his client to take one of the two armchairs by the window overlooking the galaxy outside. On this day, one could see a small nebula in the far distance.

“What topic do you want raise today?” he asked.

– Ensign Kastarak (Counsellor/Physician)

“I need to complete my re-onboarding. I had to take a leave and get some things straightened out with Starfleet’s Psych ward, and I have now been cleared to come back.” He stated as he walked to the armchair the counsellor pointed to and sat down. “Most of my information is classified, because of my history. So, I’ll start by telling you the basics. I was traveling from my home planet of Vulcan, to a family vacation spot, when this octopus looking ship created and flew into what looked like a black hole. Creating it so close to my ship, which I don’t know if the person onboard realized I was there or not, sucked my ship into the hole as well. After being rescued, I have come to learn that this somehow made me enter a different universe, or something, because where I come from, Vulcan exists, but Romulus was destroyed, and here, Romulus exists, but Vulcan is destroyed.” He stated looking out at the stars.

It was a lot for Kastarak to take in. Valharra came from a different timeline? Kastarak had heard bits and pieces, mainly in the form of rumours rather than in anything factual, of how the Nerada had come from the future, after Romulus had been destroyed, in order to bring vengeance upon Vulcan for its inability to save Romulus. The Nerada was, from records, an octopus-shaped ship.

At the same time, Valharra sounded psychotic. He did not seem psychotic, but Kastarak’s experiences of masking upon mentally ill or traumatized Vulcans, such as Symar, proved that appearances were deceiving. Vulcans did not make good psychiatric patients. In fact, Vulcans did not make good patients at all, for any discipline.

“I see,” replied Kastarak calmly, buying himself some more time to think about how to move on. “It is a curious narrative, which would logically explain the detracted sections in your records.”

“Tell me about your emotions related to the events you told me of. What emotions do they evoke? How do you respond to them?”

– Ensign Kastarak (counsellor)

“I understand the logic of what the Romulan did, make the Vulcans pay for destroying his home, even though the Vulcans here were not the ones responsible. I feel bad for them, but there isn’t much I could do, so that’s why with the help of the Vulcan who created the black hole that brought me here, I joined Starfleet to help a bigger cause. I feel angry sometimes because I don’t know that a hole like that could ever be created again to send me back, so I will never see my family again. I do what I was trained to do, I suppress them and only let them effect me when I am in my quarters and a mission is not going on.” He answered the Counsellor. “Starfleet Command thought it would be best to keep that information from my file, just in case.” Lt. Valharra continued.

T’Kul Valharra’s emotions seemed genuine, and they were expressed in a logical, nuanced way – for a Vulcan who has grown to have good understanding of emotions. There were so far no indications of emotional overload or distress of a psychopathological level. Perplexing as it was to Kastarak, there were no indications that T’Kul Valharra’s narrative was actually wrong – at least on a psychopathological level. It wasn’t indicative of delusions, nor of grandiosity or narcissism. The account that T’Kul Valharra was, furthermore, logical, and in line with the information Kastarak so far had accumulated – from T’Kul Valharra’s records, Star Fleet and Federation public records, as well as the the quadrant rumours and “informal knowledge” in the Vulcan community.

“Indeed, that is fully understandable,” Kastarak said, gathering his thoughts. He would need to seek supervision on this case any way – at this point he was at a loss on how to write his notes on the matter. He thought of how he would seek supervision – perhaps he needed to speak with Symar, or even the captain? Who would potentially know about this story? Kastarak could furthermore not shake off the inkling of doubt in the story – he needed to have a healthy and careful doubt of the veracity in this account, to keep himself objective. It was certainly a difficult case.

“Tell me of the universe you came from – where and when were you born? What was it like to arrive here?” asked Kastarak.

He knew of rumours saying that the Narada had come from the future – the year 2387. A supernova was about to engulf the Romulan star system, and destroy the entire sector. But with the red matter, the star could be destroyed before going full supernova. Yet, it happened slightly too late, as the planets of Romulus and Remus could not be saved. This was what fuelled Nero’s anger and revenge. The Vulcan who had failed to save Romulus and Remus from destruction was according to Nero guilty – indicative of the failed nature of his entire species – the Vulcans. It was all logical. As such, Nero and the Narada travelled in time to find a time to destroy Vulcan as an act of revenge… After all, as far as everyone was aware, Romulus and Remus were still very much here in this universe…

So if T’Kul Valharra’s account would align itself with the time-travelling business, it might help an understanding of the psychological situation in T’Kul Valharra. That said, T’Kul Valharra could have just heard all these rumours himself and assigned them to his persona.

But there were no indications of that – unless – unless – unless T’Kul Valharra was actually a Romulan infilitrator. How could Kastarak test for that? Could he even?

– Ensign Kastarak (counsellor)

I was born on Vulcan in the year 2356 where I came from, it was 2387 when I went on my vacation to Risa and got pulled into the black hole that left me to be here.” Lt. Valharra explained. “At first, I didn’t even know what happened. I thought I just got sucked into a wormhole like in the Gamma Quadrant where DS9 and Bajor are. But after being saved and meeting the Vulcan, who was a high ranking Starfleet Officer where I’m from, created the portal to chase after the Romulan, he told me about what had happened and helped me get to safety and picked up by your starfleet, where I decided to serve.” He continued detailing how he came to this place.
