It has been weeks since he was given a full blood transfusion that saved his life and he was thankful for the crew to rescue him. Although he ended up losing the thing he loved to the very person that saved his life and his only friend, he was still a professional. Looking over the records of his crew, he noticed something about Kane and smiled while he looked up.

From that moment he sent out a ship wide announcement to Department Heads to have their personnel attend a function, if they desired in 10 Foreword with the notice of Free drinks, 5 limit per person. That should get more people in there he mused. It was also specifically ordered that the CMO ATTEND. Time 1800hrs.

He then called out to 10 Foreword to tell them of the upcoming event.

Captain Chris Taggart CO

It was less than a minute after he sent the directive that his comms activated and the voice of the CMO came through. [O] Taggart. What the hell are you pulling? I swear to all the gods in heaven if this is another damn awards ceremony I will shoot you in the face. [O] the man growled.

Kane, CMO

Taggart laughed. “No my friend. I promise you it is not another awards ceremony. You will recieve nothing but it is still imperative that you attend.[O]

Bridie came out of the other room frowning. “Kane, what’s wrong?” she had heard the anger but not the words.

Lt JG Brigette Marshall
Chief Engineer

Chris was in a good mood and smiled and you could hear it in his voice, until he heard Bridies voice and his voice changed to one seriousness.
[O] That’s an order Lieutenant. Captain out.[O] He then shut off the coms. True love will always find away and might take detours to find the right person and that person was not him anymore. It was Kane. He was happy that they were happy but the pain was still too fresh to bear that at the moment.

Captain Chris Taggart CO

Kane stayed at the terminal for a second and them looked at Bri. “Check your messages. Then get in uniform and round up your department. Taggart’s up to something. And I dont know if it’s good or bad.” He turned to the comms and through gritted teeth made sure all of his staff that was free would be there. It was an order, after all.

Kane, CMO

Bridie touched his back a moment, then moved to change. She used the bedroom comm to notify everyone not on duty to attend. Whatever it was, she knew the more there, the better for both Kane and Taggart. They were both a bit more professional when others were watching. She then moved to change into her uniform.

At 1730, Kane arrived at 10 Forward. His eyes, hidden behind his perpetual mass of barely kept hair, scanned the space looking for any clue as to why he was told to be there.

Kane, CMO

Bridie was behind him. Her sigh almost as palpable as his glare. She touched his arm and nodded to a set of seats off to the side. “Come on, I’ll get us drinks. Relax. It’s just a gathering. Nothing serious.” She rose up to kiss his cheek then moved to get them drinks.

CE

Chris came out from the bar area dressed in his Doctor’s mess uniform and not in the typical Starfleet mess uniform. “Ah. Miss Marshall. Glad you could make it. Here is your drink.” He had a flat tone and did not smile. He handed her her drink of choice then walked passed her and went to Kane. “Here is your glass of Bourbon, 4 fingers worth. Glad you could make it.” This time he smiled.

Captain Chris Taggart CO

Dr. Alexander Blaze walked in he had on khaki BDU pants a black polo and a white Doctors Coat. As he entered the last mission the new gear he made saved the grew for the most part. He got himself some cold green tea with honey and ginseng in it and took a set. He saw the captain and waved at him homely he can tell the captain about a letter he got from Star fleet.

Dr. Alexander Blaze (Engineer)

Mwezi arrived not too long after Blaze, and immediately gravitated towards his… Friends. Yeah. Friends. Two years on this boat and he’d finally made friends. He stood next to Kane and nodded at the man. “I hear you have been singled out by Taggart this evening. Probably because you would not have showed otherwise.”

He waved quietly at Birdie, and gave Taggart a small smile.

  • Mwezi, CTO

Kane ignored the quip, although it was a good one and he made a not to remember it later. His eyes locked on the Captain. “Taggart. What the hell is going on? What’s with…” and he looked around and waved a hand,”… all of this?”

Kane,CMO

He waved to Blaze and nodded to Mwezi. Looking around, “Oh this. I’m just finishing something you started is all. Have fun and be sure to come when I call out you name.” He smiled and patted Kane on the back while sounding very condensending. “Oh. I’m surprised that you didn’t show up in the Magnum P.I. outfit I got for you. I don’t know why people are in their uniforms. I made no such request. Just to be here. I’m in this uniform for a very particular reason. Cheerio.”

He then walked away and went back to the bar. While walking there he looked at Blaze again. “Blaze! Take that doctor’s coat off! You’re not a doctor!” Then he stopped for a second. “You’re not a medical doctor nor a mad scientist!”

Captain Chris Taggart CO

Bridie had taken the drink from the CO in silence. She was singled out to be ignored and she had expected it. It wasn’t long ago, a few days, maybe a week, when she had announced to the Captain that she loved Kane and not him. She hadn’t expected to be embraced, so she was prepared for it. As Zi and the others arrived, she moved up to settle just behind Kane on his right. Her support was evident without cutting into his talks or imposing on him to entertain her.

With Taggart’s comment to come when called, her hand rose to rest lightly on Kane’s back. “I’m here, Kane…” she spoke for his ears alone. She didn’t know what was coming, but she knew Kane. Whatever it was, he wasn’t happy about the lead in.

Ensign Valharra walked in and stood in the corner. he was still fairly new to the ship, so he didn’t have much of a connection with anyone.
