He waved quietly at Birdie, and gave Taggart a small smile.

  • Mwezi, CTO

Kane ignored the quip, although it was a good one and he made a not to remember it later. His eyes locked on the Captain. “Taggart. What the hell is going on? What’s with…” and he looked around and waved a hand,”… all of this?”

Kane,CMO

He waved to Blaze and nodded to Mwezi. Looking around, “Oh this. I’m just finishing something you started is all. Have fun and be sure to come when I call out you name.” He smiled and patted Kane on the back while sounding very condensending. “Oh. I’m surprised that you didn’t show up in the Magnum P.I. outfit I got for you. I don’t know why people are in their uniforms. I made no such request. Just to be here. I’m in this uniform for a very particular reason. Cheerio.”

He then walked away and went back to the bar. While walking there he looked at Blaze again. “Blaze! Take that doctor’s coat off! You’re not a doctor!” Then he stopped for a second. “You’re not a medical doctor nor a mad scientist!”

Captain Chris Taggart CO

Bridie had taken the drink from the CO in silence. She was singled out to be ignored and she had expected it. It wasn’t long ago, a few days, maybe a week, when she had announced to the Captain that she loved Kane and not him. She hadn’t expected to be embraced, so she was prepared for it. As Zi and the others arrived, she moved up to settle just behind Kane on his right. Her support was evident without cutting into his talks or imposing on him to entertain her.

With Taggart’s comment to come when called, her hand rose to rest lightly on Kane’s back. “I’m here, Kane…” she spoke for his ears alone. She didn’t know what was coming, but she knew Kane. Whatever it was, he wasn’t happy about the lead in.

Ensign Valharra walked in and stood in the corner. he was still fairly new to the ship, so he didn’t have much of a connection with anyone.

William arrived a little late but arrived still, he generally tried to avoid useless social interactions but his curiosity was piqued. He had just finished his shift on the Conn, a job he cared little for but had been pushed into it lately, he was still wearing his duty uniform. He saw the group of people he recognized and moved in. He gave each a careful once over and a slight nod, his face permanently carved calm. He cocked his head slightly when he passed Kane and Marshall, his staff were incessant blabbermouths and he had heard the rumours regarding the sudden shift in relationships in the past few weeks. Relationships, what a waste of time. “The Captain is yelling at Blaze again?” He asked the group.

Blaze made no move to remove his Coat he have has had this coat on every ship and every post he has work on most of them were black sites but he was Comfortable with it on. Masters in warp theory, master in engineering design and defense....ya he was keeping it on.

Dr. Alexander Blaze (Engineer)

Kane looked at Taggart and glared. “Whatever this is, just get it over with, will you?” he said. His normal impersonal tone was now marked with an undercurrent of barely concealed anger.

Kane, CMO

Chris made his way to the center of the room and hollered for everyone to be quite. Once the room was quite Chris continued. “I asked you all here to help us welcome a new doctor our ship. Lt Kane please step up beside me.”

Once he did, albeit grudgingly, Chris asked for the bartender to give him a big envelope. “I bet most of you are wondering why Lieutenant Kane is up here because he’s already a doctor. But he was a Physician’s Assistant or P.A. They are just as good as doctors and can do everything a doctor can do with some exceptions. While I was going through the yearly Officer evaluations, I stumbled on a very interesting thing. Lt. Kane has actually taken all the tests and passed them all with flying colors. He also as surpassed the amount of hours needed. He just never turned in the form. So I sent it in not only as his captain but as a senior ranking doctor. I certified him because he knows what he is doing and is one of the best doctors out there.” Chris handed Kane the big envelope.
“Inside there you will find your diploma from Starfleet Medical. Congratulations. You are now a full doctor.” He started clapping until everyone was clapping and then put his hand out for Kane to shake.

Captain Chris Taggart CO

Kane gritted his teeth and smiled a wholly fake smile and took Taggart’s hand… rolling the knuckles of Taggart’s little and ring fingers together. He knew Chris would do the same, but it was worth it. He leaned in close and said “There’s a reason I didnt want this. Thanks. Remind me to punch you in the face again.” and he leaned back and smiled again. He was pissed, no doubt about it. But there was a hint of relief in his eyes as well.

Doctor Kane, CMO

Chris also did the same thing with the knuckles. “You are most welcome my dearest friend.” He whispered back. “After all I thought you were trying to follow in my footsteps. What kind if mentor would I be if I didn’t recognize the signs. You coming to the same ship, taking my CMO spot, taking my girl and now you can be a doctor like me.” He just smiled even more.

Captain Chris Taggart CO

Kane just looked and said as he gritted his teeth against the pain “Maybe if you saw her as more than a prize, it woulda worked out different. She made her own choice. And you keep pulling crap like this, I’ll be even more certain she moved up.” and then in a regular voice said “Thanks, Taggart. I knew I kept forgetting to mail that thing.” and he opened the envelope and looked in and said to the assembly “So… yeah. Thanks, I guess. Dont call me Doc.” and he walked back to stand with Bri and Mwezi and William.

Kane, CMO

Bridie wrapped her arm around his waist when he came back. “I told you it was nothing serious.” She tried to make light and reached for the envelope, sure he’d destroy it if given the chance. Kissing his check, she whispered, “You’re my PA… that’s all that matters to me.”

Mwezi had somewhat of a conspiratorial grin on his face. “Oh, I’m definitely calling you Doc,” he muttered with a smirk as Kane passed him. If Kane got to call him Warren, it was only fair.

Lt. Mwezi, Weapon’s Officer

Willia blinked a few times in mild surprise, this was the big thing they were all gathered for, an entirely pointless exercise. Everyone already knew that Kane was a capable physician, William theorized that this was more than their Captain’s eccentricities coming through, maybe a fraternal rivalry between the two men. He was sure he would not understand even if it was explained to him in detail “Normally I believe congratulations would be in order but I suspect that you won’t enjoy that much” He said calmly looking at Kane, his eyes passing over Engineer Marshall for a moment. Another reason why romantic entanglements were a foolish endeavor “Does this mean there will be an increase or decrease in shouts coming from Sickbay?” He asked without a shred of humour in his voice.

CSO, 2O

Blaze left and went to his lab and started to bring up all the new updates with phasers, Shields, engine and warp breakthrough and did some research if any of these new updates could be applied to the ship. As the computer was doing it’s job he started to work on his bow thinking of turning it into a cool war bow that can Double as a double end sword. He forgot to lock the door to his lab.

(Will make a post for my lab if any one wanna join me)

Dr. Alexander Blaze (Engineer)

Ensign Valharra stood in the corner. He clapped for the new doctor when everyone else did. When the crowd started to leave, he left as well. He didn’t have to be on duty for a couple hours, so he stood outside the door, contemplating what he could do before his shift.
