Ensign Polis made his way towards the Counselors office. He had finally been assigned quarters, so he dumped his bag onto his bunk. It didn’t contain too much. An extra uniform, few changes of clothing and a picture frame containing a picture of his parents. He was always nervous about seeing a head shrink. The idea that they could get inside your thoughts and find your deepest darkest fears. His fears were irrational of course but yet they remained. Like everyone who applies to enter starfleet, he completed his phsyic exam. “Meeting the Counselor can’t be worse then that” he thought as he arrived at his destination. He tapped on the comm panel and waited… for a huge dragon to open the door and swallow him whole. “Deep breaths…”

Morganna was seated at her desk when the chime rang “Enter,” She called out as the door opened, she stood up and walked around her desk “Ensign, how can I be of assistance today?” She asked extending her hand “I’m Commander MOrganna Salazar, the ships counselor.”

CNS

Ensign Polis stepped inside and the greeting made him feel alot more at ease. “Hello Commander. I believe I’m required to check in with yourself upon taking up my new position here on board the Odin.” He stepped forward and met her outstretched hand and shook it. “If this is a bad time, I can come back later”.

Ensign Polis, Security

Morganna shook her head “Now is fine.” She said “Please have a seat. Would you care for something to drink while we chat?” She asked moving over to the replicator. The obviously pregnant counselor, got herself a glass of mint tea and waited for the Ensign’s order.

Morganna smiled “Where are you from originally?” Morganna asked as she settled into a chair and opened the conversations.

CNS

“An orange juice would be great, thank you.” He stepped forward just enough so the counselor did not have to walk or stretch to meet him. “I’m originally from Ireland but my folks moved to San Francisco when I was young. Congratulations on your expectant arrival ma’am.”

Ensign Polis, Security

Morganna smiled “Thank you.” She said as she handed over the orange juice “Have you been back to Ireland?” She asked “Do you have family on Earth?” SHe asked as she sat down in her chair, tucking a pillow behind her back.

CNS

Polis took a seat opposite, “I have cousins living in Dublin and I keep in touch. Even pop over when I can.” He took a sip of his drink using the time to reminisce. “If you’ve never been, you should. Dublin has the hustle and bustle of a major city but the size of a small town. If you’ve heard of 6 degrees of separation, well devide that by two and you have Ireland.” He smiled thinking about it. “My parents are due to retire in the next couple of years and they will be moving back there. And I plan to do the same.”

Ensign Polis, Security

Morganna smiled “It is on my list of things to do.” She said “What do your parents do?” She asked as she took a drink of her tea.

CNS

My father works as a groundsman at starfleet headquarters. He has always been a hands on out doors loving kinda guy. My mother is a starfleet shuttle transport officer. She manages shuttlecraft movements coming and going from San Francisco.
I guess starfleet headquarters was the furthest they wanted to explore but they found what made them happy and always encouraged me to do the same.

Ensign Polis, Security

Morganna nodded “What drew you to security?” She asked “What do you think will be your biggest contribution to the Odin?”

CNS

“Security…” He thought for a moment. Not to find an answer. That he has always known. It was more a case of finding the right words without sounding foolish. “I guess that would be my need to do what is right. I believe in law, order and justice. I cannot stand by when I see people needing help. Unfortunately, however that mentality is likely to get me into trouble.” He smile slightly. “But hopefully not yet.”
He actually had to think about the second half of the question. “I believe my ability to think outside of the box is my best asset. I take a step back, assess a situation, see the options available to me and review the outcomes. I manage to do this with an uncanny speed. I’m not saying I’m always right but I don’t fear to act. I fear inaction more.”

Ensign Polis, Security

Morganna smiled “Where do you see yourself in five years?” Morganna asked “What aspirations do you have?”
