Kirshara entered duty on a normal day. There was not much going on but the ship’s normal duty. After assuming the duty station (for the night shift), Kirshara started reviewing the information from the day shift. All looked well. Looking over at the officer of the deck Kirshara reported, “All systems normal at the science station, sir.”Kirshara
Tauren walked onto the bridge, looking at his Padd, and stood by the helmsman’s position for a moment, then approached the officer on duty. “Sir,” he said, handing the padd over briefly.
“Alright, Doc, just don’t crash us,” the officer said.
“I have no intentions of doing so, sir,” Tauren responded, then took his post as helmsman. “Maintaining current heading.” A bit of a sigh of relief emerged from the center chair, as the doc appeared to at least look like he knew what he was doing.

Seeing the doctor assume the helm made Kirshara wonder....should he ask what is going on or should he just wait and see if indeed the doctor ‘crashed’ the ship. Looking over at the center chair the young officer wondered if anyone would ever give him the center chair; only time would be able to tell.

In fact another officer asked the same question aloud; the Ensign at OPS, who asked Tauren what he was doing jokingly.
“Starships have crashed while medical-division personnel were piloting, at an inordinate rate. The Galaxy-class Enterprise, as a famous example. Therefore it is… prudent to be at least mildly proficient at a time of non-crisis, as a means of preparing for a crisis, even if it seems unlikely.” He looked back towards the watch officer briefly, then back to the officer at OPS. “I have logged nearly a hundred hours as helmsman during my time in Starfleet, mostly in Runabouts. I should achieve my next rating after three more shifts, which would list me officially as one of the ship’s helmsmen, and therefore a fully qualified bridge officer, rather than my current status of being a limited duty officer. That would qualify me for consideration for promotion to Lieutenant, and eligibility to train at other bridge positions.”

Kirshara looked over and replied, “It seems most illogical for a medical officer to want to be a bridge officer, but that is just my unqualified opinion.”
With that Krishara returned to his duties, after all, what else happened on the bridge was none of his business.
