Take whoever you need.” Calin said as he motioned at her. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Calin, CO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Ch’ethyniq looked towards the Captain. “Sir, my expertise lies in bio mechanics… the fundamental aspect of known Borg technology. Or did the ship do this?” Calin asked his second officer, curious as to what was going on. : : : : : : Calin, CO : : : : Solark checked the various sensors and said, “This is only speculation: There may be a filter much like our own transporters. When they detect something undesirable in a transporter stream entering the ship, it is eliminated.” : : _____ : : Solark : : Morganna looked concerned “So am I to understand correctly our team is over there unarmed on a Borg vessel?” She asked and then looked at Rivar “We need to bring them back and find another way to search that vessel.” She said concerned for the safety of the crew on board it. She opened her mind to see if she could sense anything from the away team that might give indication of their current condition. : : CNS “Essentially, yes,” replied Solark thoughtfully. “Should we beam them back? We still have a lock on them.”

Solark

“No, we need to find out more. Let me know of any changes. Keep the lock on them and lets see where this leads us.” Rivar said as he looked at Solark, he needed to see what his crew could do for now.

The CSO’s voice cut in from the alien vessel. =/\= Ch’ethyniq to Odin. I have detected a significant presence of nanites within the vessel. I do not know the nature of their origin. I will need to study them back in the lab. Please ensure that all personnel beaming back are monitored for the presence of nanites to avoid contaminating the Odin. I will attempt to retrieve a sample and it can be beamed directly into the quarantine area of the laboratory. =/\=

Ch’ethyniq, CSO

=/\= Keep me up to date Lieutenant, we have a lock on you. The second we see anything we don’t like we will be pulling you back.

Calin, CO

OOC: Just to say that the transport would be possible

Kenson

OOC: Cross posting Kate in

IC: Activating her comm badge and looking directly at Zol, ate posed one question. Hopefully, someone would have an answer =/\=Where did we beam the nanites and how many were there=/\=

Calin looked at this Science officer nodding, “Do we have a location?” he asked.

Calin, CO

OOC: Just realised I had not posted in 7 days … Sorry!

IC: The science station showed that the transport had brought 23 nanites a secure and isolation field in the science labs.

=/\= We have them isolate in our science labs, what do you have on your end Lieutenant?=/\=

Calin, CO

=/\= An empty ship claiming that We are alone in an ominous overload type voice but with benevolent undertones =/\= Kate replied to the Captain. =/\= This might sound crazy but can Riss communicate with the nanites? =/\=

Lt. Kate O’Neill Cos

=/\= We will work on it on here, keep us clued in Lieutenant. =/\=

Calin, CO

OOC: (1) Very very sorry. I did not have time to post an emergency LOA. I am back.

OOC: (2) Took me a while to find this thread.

IC:

=/\=Bridge we are standing by with a message to transmit to the away team.=/\= Solark said after tapping his commbadge.

Solark (COO)

Morganna listened to what Kate was saying “Captain, what if they have been infected with a virus that severed them for the hive?” She asked “They are still dangerous, but we may be able to reason with them a bit more than we would otherwise.”

CNS

OOC: Can I assume permission was given to transmit the message? Solark is going AWOL in Science Labs :)

Kenson

OOC: Sorry if this causes problems. I am going to take this as a yes.

Kenson

Morganna sat in her chair and listened to the comings and goings. She wanted to be on the alien ship, she felt mostly useless.

CNS

IC: Solark arrived at the bridge, hoping to have a better perspective on the situation as the science lab did not have the centrality of the bridge. He had requested the CSO to be at that bridge as well.

Solark

Shrant arrived on the bridge just after Solark “Commander, we have not been introduce, Im the Chief Engineer, Shant how can I help?”

CE

“We have an away team on the alien ship, very similar to a Borg ship except that it is tetrahedral in shape and there are no drones. We are attempting to find out more. We have discovered that there are nanites on the ship but they do not seem to have the programming to turn people into drones. When we beamed the away team over, their weapons were removed during transit by the alien ship. It is obvious that their technology is advanced and we need to see if we can disable the alien ship if called upon. Do you have any ideas?” asked Solark after a rather long discourse.

Solark

Shrant thought hard, “The simple answer would be to attempt to recover one of the nanites and attempt to reprogram it. Most nanites would have a shared “hive” like programing, If we programed it properly it could shut down the entire system.” That was of course if they could even get thier hands on one of the Nanites.

Lieutenant Shrant
CE

“We do have nanites beamed to a secure area in the science lab,” said Solark.

Solark

Shrant nodded “Let’s have a science officer meet us down there and see if we can reprogram one of these things!”

Shrant
CE

Solark turned to the CSO and asked, “Who would you recommend for the task?”

Solark

Riss shrugged and his antennae twitched slightly. “I would not recommend any alteration to their programming until we know more as to what they are and what their agenda is, specifically. We have a sample isolated from the hive-mind on the ship and are running scans to determine if they truly are Borg technology or just something similar. But either way, they have not taken any direct action against us. Reprogramming them could be interpreted as a hostile act.”

Ch’ethyniq, CSO

Shrant paused for a moment, waiting untill they attacked would be a mistake that could put them all in danger, “We need to have a plan for hostile contingencies. Ch’ethyniq can you produce enough information to be able to reprogram it?”

Shrant
CE

“May I suggest that a way to reprogram the nanites be considered as a way. We could get the program ready but not actually reprogram the nanites we have at hand. It would be used should we detect that there is an actual danger. At the moment, I agree with the CSO. They have not actually attacked anyone. We have invaded their ship and that was not taken as a hostile action. We should consider that,” Solark contributed his bit.

Solark

OOC: There is quite a number of LOAs on the roster and this is going to be tough. I am going to reveal things about the ship if you continue to engage the ship. I will work out an alternative as quite a number of the Senior officers have taken an LOA.

Kenson (also GM)

Riss nodded and began compiling a proposal for a way to reprogram the nanites in a way as to make them view the crew and ship of the Odin as non-hostiles, with a secondary program putting them into a dormant state.

Ch’ethyniq, CSO

The CSO was able to complete her task successfully.

Morganna listened as they began to make plans to counter attack should it be necessary “Could the away team disperse the altered nanites should it become necessary?” She asked.

CNS

“That maybe needed, but… I feel more like this whole scenario is going to be falling apart soon. This ship, something isn’t right. What if they want their organic portion back?”

Calin, CO

GM

The CSO spoke up. “I have programmed the nanites we have to send a trojan to the ship. It will make the nanites view us and the Odin as non-hostiles. There is a secondary program that, when executed, will put them in a dormant state. The program should spread quickly once the nanites are put back into that environment. At least, it should.” he added.

Ch’ethyniq, CSO

Shrant was looking closly at his consoles “I am concerned if the Nanites get into our systems. We need to be able to ensure that we are locking them out whereever possible.”
