The sensor sweep indicated that the ship was indeed in that system as well as two other ships and some indication of manmade structures on one of the planets.

GM

Morganna looked at Calin “I don’t like this. It seems unusual.” She said “Why would the Romulans be coming here? Reinforcements?” She asked thoughtfully.

CNS

“Ms O’Neil, what do we have here? What kind of readings are you seeing on these ships?” Calin asked looking over at his Tacitcal officer, he needed more details as he had the back of mind begin to worry as he looked over at Morganna.

Calin, CO

The sensors at the Tactical station showed that there were two other ships with a warp drive. The ship they were chasing had a singularity drive.

GM

Bump for Kate.

After some 20 minutes, the sensors were able to obtain enough information to ascertain that the artificial structures were buildings that were partly above ground and partly below the ground level.

GM

“Sir the sensors are showing that the two ships on the scans have warp engine signatures. So they are either aquantances of our Romulan rabbit or they want to catch up with them too. Also,” Kate hit a few more buttons on the console and brought the information to main screen in a small corner. The surface of one planets appears to have some manmade structures. I am scanning for lie forms,” she replied hoping that maybe they could gleen some information based on a visual inspection of the buildings.

Lt. Kate O’Neill COS

Her scans showed that there were approximately 47 life signs. However, at the distance, there was no other details.

GM

“What do we got Lieutenant? What’s the word on the lifesigns?” Calin asked her.

Calin, CO

Morganna opened her mind to the 47 life signs to see if she could learn anything about them. She watched the forward view screen and the others on the bridge.

CNS

OOC: Please ignore my earlier post. Got it mixed up with another sim … sorry!! :(

There was a mix of different emotions: anxiety-fear, annoyance and indifference. Most were feeling annoyance rather than the other two. She did not sense that they were terrified of any danger, however.

GM

IC:

There were many individuals that she was not very familiar with. There were among the familiar ones: Orions, Cardassians, Andorians and Pellar Zel natives. Thrown into the mix were some individuals that she wasn’t able to read, that were most probably Ferengi.

GM

Zol looked at the readings at read back what he saw. This was certainly something new to say the least.

“Interesting… okay so what do you make of this Lieutenant Zol?” Calin asked as he looked over to the officer.

“Well… sir… I mean I am not sure exactly. I am not even sure who to hail here, who is in charge?” he offered with a shrug as he looked over to Lieutnenant O’Neill.

Calin, CO

Morganna looked at Calin “There are Orions, Cardassians, Andorians and Pellar Zel Natives.” She said “They have various emotions, anxiety, indifference, none seem to be afraid though.” She said giving a report on what she picked up empathically.

CNS

Solark turned and said, “It would seem that there is either a conference of some sort. 47 individuals with at least 5 races would seem to be quite a mix. I have not found any communique to show that there is a meeting of this sort …”

Solark

“Can we intercept any comm channels at all?” Calin asked, wondering if there was anything they could get before they even considered opening hailing frequencies.

Calin, CO

Solark tapped the display panels and after a few moments looked up. “A large proportion of the communications are encrypted and it would not be easy to decrypt the messages. However, they do have standard subspace channel communications. I believe that our comms could easily contact them. From what I can gather, they have not detected us yet.”

Solark

Morganna continued to keep probing the alien ship to see if she could gain any additional information about what was going on. She was surprised that they did not appear to be in distress. “Perhaps, Captain we are looking at this the wrong way.” She said “Maybe the ones that attacked are in the right, not what we are seeing.” She said thoughtfully.

CNS

Morgana suddenly sensed deception. At the same time, the Tactical panel detected two small fighter ships decloaking behind the Odin.

GM

“Sir we have two ships that have just decloaked,” Kate snapped out. “Scanning for weapons.”

Morganna sent a message to River’s console ~We’re being deceived. I’m not clear as to what on yet. But she is being deceptive~ Morganna maintained her eye contact with the forward view screen.

Ensign Wolf just entered the bridge and went to a secondary tactical cancel “targets locked ready to fire phasers there hot and ready to go”

Ensign James Wolf (Security)

OOC: Just a clarification: Are we at yellow or red alert?

GM

OOC: I hard ordered us at yellow alert.

IC: “All halt, open hailing frequencies all channels.” Calin ordered as he saw the ship, his eyes widening as he felt a pit of worry in the gut of his stomach. Who were they and what did they want was all he could think as he waited to see what came back from them.

Calin, CO

A rather demure looking human face appeared on the view screen. =/\=Starfleet vessel, you are outside Federation territory and are considered trespassers. I hope you have a good reason for your transgression.=/\=

GM

Morganna shifted in her seat, and watched the person on the screen. She said nothing and waited for Calin to respond. She tried to read the woman in front her. She was on edge and concerned about what they were actually walking into.

CNS

For some reason, Morganna was not able to read the person. A familiar feeling came over her: Ferengi…

GM

Her next message to Rivar ~She is Ferengi. Not human~

So you own all the dead space from the edge of our border to yours but we don’t know your name and you are a smattering of races so how are we trespassing in what looks like to me a park or rebel base, Kate said to herself. The groupings of the people were odd. They were not the typical races you saw clump together based on ideologies which made Kate instantly lean to the rogue element side of the table. Still, she was not the captain of the Odin so she could not pose such questions yet unless they could be worked into the conversation.

Lt. Kate O’Neill COS

=/\= We had some ships under attack that lead us here, we mean not harm… we just are trying to investigate. You wouldn’t know anything about such an incident would you? =/\= Calin said as he looked straight at the screen, trying to gauge the woman as he wondered just how much he should be worried right now.

Calin, CO

When the ship went to alert, Ka’Lissi had settled engineering and put a Lt JG in charge and had headed for the bridge. In times like this, being on the starting end of orders was much better for her, and the ship, than being on the final end.

She came in just as the exchange began and a small frown was quickly suppressed as she took the console for engineering and settled in. She punched up the readiness of the ship for fight or flight and gave the Captain a swift nod they were in a good position for both if needed.

Ka’Lissi Rosh
CE

Morganna’s mind was calm as she continued an empathic reading of what was going on around her.

CNS

Kate glanced over at Ka’Lissi who just came in loving that the CE was on deck. There was nothing worse than getting a bloody nose and not having a way to fight back. To Kate’s knowledge, there is not any situation the woman could not handle. Waiting to see what was abbout to unfold, she kept her hands near the launch button and eyes on the screen.

Lt. Kate O’Neill COS

=/\=We do not ask questions of this sort here,=/\= the Ferengi continued, =/\=You may conduct your investigations here but know that you do not have jurisdiction. Present your evidence and we will make our decision regarding the situation.=/\= Empathically, there were no changes in the mood of the speaker.

GM

OOC: Just gonna slide in here as if Mason has been here pre-sim.

IC: “Stand down Phasers,” Mason ordered Tactical. As the Captain had said, they meant no harm and an active weapons system was only going to make things more tricky seeing as they had been granted ‘permission’ to investigate. He moved so that his step took him close to Rivar’s shoulder and he spoke quietly as he looked back at the Tactical station, the image of the human on the screen wouldn’t see his lips moving.

“Captain, those fighters are no risk to us, and 47 people that seem to be Federation citizens can’t exactly claim rights over this system. Those humans on screen have cloaking technology, that’s outlawed by the Federation. They are hiding something and we have to investigate them now as well.”

Commander Black, XO

Calin nodded quietly as he looked back at the screen. “We wouldn’t want to break any rules in this region, but for us to continue or investigation maybe putting some cards on the table as the old Earth saying goes might be of some use here. We need sensor data to be able to even know what we might be looking for, and when it comes to evidence this isn’t as far as I know… anyone’s jurisdiction. Unless I passed the space marker letting us know who’s sovereign territory it is. So maybe you scratch our back we can scratch yours.” Calin said as he stared the woman down, in situations of neutral space the ship didn’t have to abide by any rules even if these people wanted to claim they had ownership.

Calin, CO

The woman smiled, “You have entered what the Federation calls ‘unexplored space’. It is outside the Federation and outside most other Empires. When we grew tired of being in large bureaucratic governments, we found this place, unclaimed and uninhabited. We have claimed it our own. Because you approached us with weapons ready, you may be considered a threat to our little community …”

The stand down was initiated, but Lissi knew enough to keep the toggle handy, so to speak.

Giving a nod and a wink to Kate, the Engineering Chief knew when push came to shove, the two of them could give the upstarts on the screen a run for their money.

Keeping half an eye on the view screen, and the other on her console readouts if the other ships, the Chief was poised and ready for whatever was coming next.

Ka’Lissi
CE

“Since you have lowered your weapons,” the woman continued, “I will no longer treat you as a threat. However, I would emphasise that you would need to give us evidence before you are permitted to enter our home to conduct an investigation.”

GM

With the new XO on the Bridge, Morganna stepped back so that she was not in the way.

CNS

Kate looked down at her console with a gaze of pure professionalism and typed out a message to Ka’Lissi to read. Hey Ka’L, should we get together and whip up a batch of cookies. I make a mean chocolate chip cookie. Would that be evidence we come in peace. After typing it Kate looked back up at the monitor as if listening intently to everything the woman on the main screen was saying. She trusted few people on the first hello. This woman on the main screen would be no exception.

Lt. Kate O’Neill COS

Morganna continued keeping her mind open to the others and as things came to her, she would relay that information to the Captain.

CNS

OOC: The woman was waiting for an answer as to what the evidence was …

GM

“That’s not how this is going to work, I don’t want a fight but the Federation doesn’t recognize this is anything more than squatters. So how about a compromise? You send someone over and they work with us hands on. You can have someone who can be privy to what we have and they can guide and go over the details as we look into this. Everyone gets something of what they want but no one gets everything, like a marriage.”

Calin, CO

There was a slight pause, almost as if the woman was taken aback. She recovered herself and replied, “Your suggestion has merit. I will send you our decision in 30 minutes.” With that the communications ended.

GM

Lissi smiled slightly and shook get head at Kate’s message. Leave it to the toughest girl on the ship to suggest cookies as a peace offering.

Listening to the exchange between shops, it occurred to her that someone here might be a good idea. But then the Captain likened it to marriage and get smile grew enough she has to look away and back at her console. As the viewing screen went dark, the Chief engineer murmured with a giggle, “I now pronounce us husbands and wives.”

“Let’s not get too ahead of ourselves Lieutenant, divorces can be messy.” Calin said with a smirk as he looked over at the Chief.

Lissi

Morganna looked at Rivar “You need to be careful. She has been deceptive during our interactions thus far.” She said from where she was standing toward the back of the Bridge.

CNS

“I believe the counsellor has given the right advice, Captain. They might be formulating various traps for us during this 30 minutes.,” said Solark.

Solark

“Keep us on yellow alert, Commander Black I want you to call the staff to an emergency meeting. I will be there in a few minutes I want to confer with Commander Salarzar and decide what to do next.” Calin said as he patted his XO on the shoulder as he walked past him.
