Every 4 weeks ensign Wolf and a few of the security team Run drills on the hollow deck. Drills like Avance hand to hand combat, Avance small arms training, Advance squad exercises. And advanced ship to ship tactics. These few we’re looking forward to being the A team Of the security officers.

Ensign James Wolf (Security)

Kate showed up to the hollow deck in fatigue pants and her classic black tank top, hair pulled back tightly in a ponytail. Walking up to Wolfe she smiled. “So what’s the drill this month? Is it a water assault? I love me so water assaults,” she winked at Wolfe. Kate loved the initiative of her security teams. They were a tight-knit group and everyone worked hard and played hard. Hopefully, her fun with guns day out wasn’t going to involve her showing up to Sickbay again. At least the Odin was large enough that she could rotate the doctors out.

Lt. Kate O’Neill COS

James smiled “I would like to do a mentor drill how about a modern day kobayashi maru“ he said as he Activate the holo deck.

The holo deck Made the bridge of the ship right now “OK so first round everyone take your position” Wolf looked over at O’Neill “The Com is yours”

Security NE Perth stood at the tactical station to monitor the sensors.

NE Perth

Wolf took the center chair =^= computer start program kobayashi maru Wolf 056 =^=

The program started as ensign wolf was in the center chair. Soon the Tactical station got a distress call coming in =^= Hello can any one here us this The transport vessel kobayashi maru Our engines are down And we have drifted into The Romulan neutral zone can anyone hear ^#%%}}< =^= the link was jammed.

Ensign James Wolf (Security)

“Distress call from the Kabayashi Maru. We have her position,” reported Perth

NE Perth

Wolf looked at Perth “what is her position“
He asked.

Ensign James Wolf (Security)

“Bearing 10 mark 16 at 400 million kilometres. We can be there in under three minutes at 2arp 9,” replied Perth.

NE Perth

“Scanning eye area for enemy vessels,” Kate replied. While some didn’t see the point in these type trainings Kate did. People trained to learn and gain experience. No win situations by their very nature were odd and unusual. Most people died when things were odd and usual because they never trained for that contingency. This is why Kate was here and ready to see what Wolfe had in store.

Lt Kate O’Neill. COS

( so you all know this is not a test for me it is a test for you To think of alternative ways to take a no-win scenario into a lifelong wisdom lesson)

“ punch up the Romulan neutral zone on the main viewer and show the Kabayashi Maru on star map” the way he gave orders made the crew responsed well to him.

Ensign James Wolf (Security)

“Aye,” said Perth and the view screen showed what the sensors had retrieved.

NE Perth

Wolf looked at the screen “ is the a way we can mask our warp to not show up and when we get there can we expand or shields to cover the Vessel and how long can we keep that up with” he looked to the crew to see what they have to offer

Ensign James Wolf (Security)

“There are several ways,” replied Perth. “However, it is done after the trail is laid, if the enemy sensors are trained to look for the right thing, they might be able to estimate our location; it’s a risky manoeuvre.”

NE Perth

James looked at Perth “ how long will it take for them to get here if they see us” he ask as he checked in with Engineer on how to keep shields up and expand them to cover the Kabayashi Maru.

Ensign James Wolf (Security)

“Our sensors are not able to effectively detect a cloaked vessel. Right now, I have no idea if there are cloaked vessels near the Kobayashi Maru. I cannot calculate that information without data,” said Perth as her frustration grew.

NE Perth

He stood from his set “ in the past on earth subs used Technology called Sonar. The send a pulse out in water the sound bounce back if it hit something. Is there a way we can use a Sound pulse. Because they’re closed only makes them disappear on her sensors and to the naked eye but as samples will have to reflect off of a solid object”

Ensign James Wolf (Security)

“We’re in space, sir,” said NE Perth. “Sound would not be effective as there is no air. There might be a way to detect them but it would take time. A radius of 10 kilometres would take 20 minutes and an additional kilometre after that would increase the time taken geometrically. A radius of 100 kilometres would take slightly more than 367 hours.”

NE Perth

Mike closed his eyes “what is the Romulan hull made of is there any way we can make it glow or maybe we can flood the area with Particles so we can detect them” he said setting down.

Ensign James Wolf (Security)

NE Perth looked around, wondering if anyone was able to answer Wolf.

NE Perth

“What if we magnetize them,” Kate offered up a suggestion. “It would coat the ship like a blanket. If it came into range. Where all the particles bunch up is where the ship is sitting. ” Kate had no idea if this worked but most ships were painted by magnatizing the paint so that it stuck to the surface like a glue making it harder than traditional slap on paints.

Lt. Kate O’Neill COS

Perth began to look through the various particles that the ship could produce and see if they could be magnetised …

NE Perth

James was thinking “ how about we rush in with our work signature mast raise shields and expand them to cover the transport vessel. Then we can beam them onboard and warp out hopefully before anyone notices “

Ensign James Wolf (Security)

NE Perth punched in the scenario into the computer to see the outcome of such an action …

Ensign James Wolf (Security)

Why do my side Sims never get completed

Ensign James Wolf (Security)

OCC: Because Kate’s avatar is a dog and you know what happens when we see.......Squirrel!!!. But seriously I am so very sorry I have let this slip. I got a new principal and wow she has changed a lot. It took the first quarter but we are settling in and I am back to posting. I am sorry if you thought I was not interested. It was purely a real life vs. free time. Now back to posting :) ~ Kate

IC:

“I am down for a bit of top drawer raiding while their pants were caught down,” Kate winked with a smile at her commanding officer in this holo sim. Whether or not beaming them out this way would work was anyone’s guess. To Kate, it was an interesting concept and might have some practical applications in the real world. If she ever did have to use this maneuver she would call it the Wolfe and give credit where credit was due. “Sir,” she replied punching a few commands on her console. “weapons are hot and ready.”

Lt. Kate O’Neill COS

Wolf turned his set to face the screen with a smile “ ok crew we have a mission to do and a new way to do it. We are going to warp into the area with our ward procedure masked. When We get close enough to the transport vessel I want us to use every bit of power we have for the shields and expand them around the Transport vessel also. Beam them into cargo bay 1 and have medical teams there also. Once we have all survivors in bring the shoes back into normal power and let’s warp back out and if they try to stop us we will fight our way out” he looked around after letting everyone know the plan when he was done. “Helm lay in A course, raise shields and keep weapons hot” he then turn on the ship comes =^= this is acting Captain Wolf red alert all hands battle Stations ! =^=

NE Perth started programming the various steps with the shields and the transport. “Shields and transporters are prepped and ready, sir!” she reported.

NE Perth

“Weapons are hot and ready and waiting for your order,” Kate prepared her station.

Lt. Kate O’Neill Cos

The the vessel dropped out of warp just outside the lineOf the neutral zone. Wolf looked up “I want a full sensor sweep did they detect us coming in” he said looking around.

Ensign James Wolf (Security)

“Attempting to use magnetic particles to detect vessels as we approach our target …” Two seconds went by. “No vessels detected so far. Rerouted all available energy to the shields. Target is two minutes away,” said NE Perth

NE Perth

James stood up “slow and easy helm. Tactical when you see an vessel decloaking light in up fast....wait a sec this all feels off........ scan for life sign i’m bored Kobayashi Maru helm if we can’t confirm any life signs warp us out of here and tactical if no life signs blow it up.” He said looking around.

Ensign James Wolf (Security)

Kate sent out a sensor sweep for life signs. There had to be some somewhere but the question was where. Kate’s tummy flip flopped a bit waiting for the gotcha that was bound to come. If she were the cloaked vessel she would wait long enough for the ship she was about to attack to let up their guard soon because that is always what happened. No crew came into a situation relaxed. They came in hot and ready to blacken someone’s eye in a fight. It was the coffee break time when you got caught with your pants down.

Lt. Kate O’Neill COS

The scan for life signs on the Kobayashi Maru Came back negative no life signs on the vessel. Wolf looked at the vessel “ helm get us out of here max warp. Tactical destroy the Kobayashi Maru”

Ensign James Wolf (Security)

Years of training taught Kate to think, debate, assess, and act all in under a second. It also taught her to trust the man in the big chair on reflex. “Firing proton torpedos,” Kate responded instantly and then looked up to see what was going on.

Lt. Kate O’Neill COS

NE Perth looked at the photon torpedoes heading towards the Kobayahsi Maru. She had had been on the simulation before but the cadet on the captain’s chair had always failed. She wondered what the result might be for the present decision Wolf had made.

NE Perth (Kenson Koh)

As the ship warp out the kobayahsi maru was Destroyed. As the simulation ended the computer asked why did the ensign ordered to fire on the vessel. “ when we confirmed there were no life signs it was clear that the Romulans were using the vessel as a trap. Destroying the trap Vessel was the best way to prevent any other star fleet vessel from falling into the trap”

Then the computer asked the COS
=^= Lt. In your words how did the ensign proformed =^=

Ensign James Wolf (Security)

Kate crossed her arms over her chest and leaned against the wall. She had no problems giving a performance review, especially in this situation since it was a non-job related review. “I think we should have beamed over and checked it out. No life signs did not mean there was not life once on the ship. The crew could have been killed. The computer might have held transmissions to solve why. I think we jumped the gun in leaving the scene. Being in command requires you to make choices and take chances. Overall my Ensign did well but he needs more daring,” she suggested.

Lt. Kate O’Neill Cos

NE Perth looked to the security officer. It was not a bad assessment but it could still be regarded as scathing …

NE Perth

James smiled at the COS “that is the kobayashi maru. There is no sure way to beat it every Capt. in command has their own way of dealing with certain problems. Me as A half Vulcan complete the mission in the most logical way ever. And of course the COS would’ve rest the lives of the crew to retrieve any data from the vessel even if there was any or not notice the Romulans could’ve scratched it all and just left a little transmitter on there. My way resulted in no crew death no damage done to our vessel and the destruction of a trap that the Reminence will never admit they had thus they will not claim we violated their territory” as the holo deck went to stand by mode Wolf looked to the team there “ OK team we only have 30 minutes left so let’s do some basic target practice”

Ensign James Wolf (Security)

“And no one ever got anywhere playing it safe except little old ladies in a knitting circle,” Kate let out a laugh. “You are right though, sending people over could have resulted in death which is why I never said you would have gone over there. When I say we I meant me and you pulling my butt out if things went south fast. Now if I died because you were unable to pull me out that is on me. With rank comes the ultimate responsibility is so many ways. The old adage ‘the captain always goes down with his ship’ is true for a reason. People follow you because they see two things: one,” she held up a finger, ” you are never going to ask them to do something you wouldn’t do yourself and two,” she held up a second finger, “you take the responsibility for any blame or failure even if you were not the obvious cause. The Kobyashi Maru test to me is ridiculous because you inherently know it is fake. Sure they can make the simulation as real as possible but therein lies the rub. You know it is fake. Even if you shut off the safeties, you can just hide until someone ends it. Real-life is about action and reaction. Until you are in the situation you will never know if you have the courage to take a phaser shot to the chest or sacrifice your life. It all sounds so heroic on paper but everyone has a sense of self-preservation. The Kobyashi Maru is basically mental chess. It can’t possibly test the true nature of someone because it is fake. I enjoy it in a holodeck as much as anyone but I would never lay any credence to the way one acts during it to show what kind of soldier they are. I save that for my day job.,” Kate shrugged off her answer. “As to target practice, now you are talking,” she smiled happily. “are we picking our weapon or do you have an idea of what we should use?”

Lt. Kate O’Neill COS

James walked over to a table “ this here is an old army M4-A1 combine assault rifle, it has a magazine that holds about 30 rounds and it is full auto. I want everyone to use about four magazines on moving targets there is a little kick don’t be scared” he said tossing the rifle to Kate “ Will you like to do the honors Chief” he said with a wink to her.
