Veyn nodded and smiled widely to the miscellaneous members of the Odin’s crew that he passed on his way to sickbay. He had only delayed his appointment slightly to ensure that he had been outfitted with a communicator by operations and to obtain access to the science labs and the atrium from security. It had been difficult to resist the urge to stop the turbolift just a floor earlier so he could inspect the ship’s scientific faculties immediately. He’d do that right after this. As a reward, or sorts. At least his quarters, though quaint, were located on deck sixteen, so he’d have a miniscule commute. Veyn chuckled to himself at the thought.

For just a moment, Veyn paused to consider which of the main two sickbays he should enter for the best odds to find the Chief Medical Officer. Port or starboard? Then he shook his head and resolved that Sickbay 1 was the obvious choice.

After stepping through the doors to the main sickbay, Veyn waited patiently just inside, glancing about every once in a while to see if he could identify the CMO. Veyn didn’t interrupt any of the various doctors or nurses present, content to rock back and forth on the balls of his feet and take in his new surroundings until approached.

It was very shortly after his arrival that a Bajoran woman in the blue uniform of Medical and Science under a white coat came up to him. “Hello, Lieutenant.” and she held up a PaDD and tapped a few commands into it. “You are Lieutenant Junior Grade Veyn, yes? Recently on board and here, I would hope, for your duty physical… is that correct?”

NE Delur

Veyn inclined his head in greeting with a polite smile. “That’s right, that’s me,” he confirmed brightly. “May I ask your name? I don’t have the advantage of the ability to familiarize myself with the crew’s medical files, but I would like to start getting a few names under my belt if at all possible.” He stopped short of extending a hand, figuring that the gesture may not be appropriate in an area of the ship where sanitation was particularly important.
