OOC: Wouldn’t that be one for the medical journals…

Morganna nodded “Both.” She said “Third baby.” She said looking at Rivar. Morganna was calm even through the contractions. She kept her mind calm and let things move along like they were supposed to.

CNS

Siegfried smiled. “Fourth time’s the charm.” and he patted her shoulder. “Are we doing an epidural?” he asked as he watched the scans. Everything was normal as he moved to the end of the biobed and said “Up to you, but now’s the time to decide.”

Morganna shook her head “No I’m good.” She said “Third baby is always easier.” She said as she looked at River “I love you Imazadi.” she said as another contraction started and she took Rivar’s hand.

“I love you too…” Rivar said with a large nervous smile. It was her third time but his first. Her precious husband had a hand in the other pregnancies. Now he was here and things felt nerve wracking and terrifying. He couldn’t let his emotions overwhelm her though.

CNS

“Hope so. It’s only the third time I’ve done this, too.” and he gave her a wink. Settling in to position, he looked and assessed where they were at.

(OOC: Don’t know how long or complicated you want this to be. Let me know and I’ll run with it.)

OOC: Can an NE nurse be of help in any way? …

Kenson

OOC: Always. A doctor is only as good as their nurses.

James

NE Doubtfire prepped up and reported to help with the delivery. She looked at the mediscans and prepared a warm bath.

GM

OOC: Uncomplicated

IC: Morganna listened to her body and what the doctor told her, this was very different from her second daughter’s birth, when she didn’t know where her husband was or if he was alive. This time her husband was with her and they were prepared and ready for this baby. S

“What can I do?” Rivar asked. This wasn’t the ask of a captain but a very nervous husband and father as he looked around the room.

Calin, CO

Abel looked at the Captain from behind the drape over Morganna’s legs and said “Stay up there with her and just keep her as relaxed as you can. If you hold her hand, I recommend only single finger of yours in her hand at a time. Contractions can be quite… something… and I have seen more than one father’s hand break when the mother squeezed during the event.” and he winked at the man. “And you stay calm too. This looks as perfect as it could be.” He looked at the nurse and said “Get the L&D table ready and start the medical record for…” and he looked around the drape again, “… have you picked out a name?” he asked as he went back to work.

Abel, CMO

“Yes doctor,” replied Nurse Doubtfire. She got out the equipment ready and she pressed on the side panel to put the computer on stand by for the entry of the medical record.

GM

“Not yet.” Morganna stated as another contraction started and she began pushing to bring their son into the world. She focused on a place that made her relaxed and comfortable. She let her body dictate how things went. It was about as perfect a delivery it was moving quickly and about 30 minutes later the baby was ready to enter the world.

CNS

A final push and Abel cradled the newborn in his glove covered hands. A few moments later and he said “Almost done. Dad? Care to do the honors?” and handed the CO a pair of surgical shears. The umbilical cord was clamped off in two places and Abel said “Right here between the two.”

Abel, CMO

Morganna leaned back against the bed, tired yet happy as the baby cried. She looked at Rivar “His name is Etak Dren.” She said

CNS

Nurse Doubtfire prepped the computer and the name the mother spoke became part of the computer’s record.

Kenson

Abel made a few notes and weighed and measured the newborn. As soon as the placenta was no longer an issue, he brought Etak over and handed him to Morganna. He looked at the parents. “Commodore. Commander. All is in perfect order. Commander, rest here for a few hours, then we will get you to your quarters. Congratulations, mom and dad. And welcome to the universe, Etak. I look forward to seeing what you do!” he said with a warm and welcoming smile.
