Shaun couldn’t doubt this place was stunning, but he couldn’t help but feel like he was going to get lost in this behemoth of a place as he took a deep breath. Shaun could be heard grunting as he walked with Kate as he looked like some type of a pack mule as he tried to take the views in. “What all did you back?” he asked Kate as he was dragging the bags along the sandy beach. “What kind of place is this Aedan Teller running?”

“One we can’t afford even if you were a private practice doctor,” Kate said as she stopped at the edge of the pool area and looked around. The resort area was breathtaking with not just a pool but what was essentially a man-made lake separating the beach area of the hotel from the actual beach of the sea. It was large enough to allow for all the typical things one did at the ocean’s edge but also jet skiing, catamarans, and windsurfing all without entering the actual ocean or disturbing those that wanted to sit with their toes in the water and their asses in the sand. The trek from the landing zone to here had been a bit longer than she expected but at least they were now next to a bar.

“Then why don’t they have someone to help take our stuff?”

“What can I get you miss,” a voice said from behind her in the thick, sultry accent of the native population. The voice was as melodic as the crash of the ocean along.

Placing a hand on her large sun hat, Kate looked at Shaun and then back to the bartender. “Um I would like a Cardassian Sunrise for me and for my boy friend a Budweiser Classic,” she ordered the drinks before turning to face Shaun fully taking a seat in the chair. He did look rather hot and it wasn’t like they were on any real schedule. Maybe a nice cold drink and a rest in the shade was what they might need. Swinging her feet she continued to admire the area as the drinks appeared a half a second later.

“Oh they did,” Kate said sipping the large fruity concoction in her hand as she held the beer out for Shaun to take. “I just told them you could do it. It saved us ten credits.”

“What?” he said as he looked over at Kate with a sharp look. “You… no… you wouldn’t do that to me,” he said with an almost pleading tone as he dropped the bags down as he stared at her.

“What what,” she looked at him quizzically. “I know the rooms and meals are comped but I am not sure about the activities, booze or tipping. If we are planning to go home for Thanksgiving and Christmas it’s not like we have a fortune and who wants to drink. This girl,” she hooked a thumb at her body. “We may need that ten credits for something important like cheese fries on the beach or another round of beers. Besides I could have carried some if you asked. I did have two hands free. Until now,” she laughed.

“Captain Calin said everything was comped, you just told them to put it on the Odin account and Mr. Teller was taking care of the rest… good lord,” Shaun said as he stopped to wipe some sweat from his brow. “Why is the landing port this far from the hotels?” Shaun said as he looked and could see a shuttle tram that seemed to be full of Odin crew going past them as he looked over at her.

“Why is Crewmen Boyle in that tram and not me? Did you say no to the shuttle ride too? Boyle doesn’t deserve that AS I DO ” Shaun said with an emphatic point into Kate’s chest as he looked at her with a disappointing stare. “For now on I am talking to everyone we meet here, otherwise you are going to have us cleaning our own room and cooking our own meals.”

Shaun paused from his rant as he began to look around. The resort was stunning. Eden Prime had a small colony, few dozen other resorts with residential and commercial along with all kinds of venues. The del Mar had seemed by far the nicest as they flew in, but so much of the world had been unexplored. So far outside of a few mining towns that helped provide resources for construction and some further inland farming town the city they were in, named Dreamers Cove, had been the most populated and de facto capital of this resort world with almost 2 million people. Described as the new Risa, it was clear they were trying to make an impact on the tourism market.

“Oh we would never expect you to do that sir,” a soft feminine voice spoke coming from seemingly no where to hand Shaun a soft towel. The outfit she wore fit her like a second skin flowing and moving around her with the wind. It would have been easy to mistake her for another guest except for the fact her dress matched the bartender’s shirt in color and pattern. “We are here to make any desire happen you can wish.”

“See, look she’s happy to see me, and serve me,” Shaun said as he turned to Kate as he stuck his tongue out at her. “I guess sitting isn’t such a bad thing but… I mean we can’t just leave all of this here.” Shaun said as he gestured down to all their bags.

“Then I can personally arrange for your luggage to arrive at your room.” Pulling a chair around for him, the woman patted it as if indicating for him to sit back, relax, and take a load off to start enjoying his vacation. “It is too far to head back to the tram shuttle but I will find and send a valet here to you sir.”

“Nah we are good,” Kate waved a hand at the woman. Knowing he was going to start to complain, Kate began to explain. “What do you see on those shuttles Shaun,” she asked waving her hand with the drink about?”

“What I see is me not having to walk forever and ever,” Shaun said as he sat down in the chair. “I don’t drink Bud…” Shaun said to the waiter as he had him send it back. “You would think knowing me since she was six would have had her learn I hate drinks like that but sometimes she gets heatstroke. Give me two Bahama Mamas… I am gonna be here for a while it seems.” Shaun said as he handed back the beer to the bartender.

“Besides, unless you wanna get your happy ass out of that chair and get our luggage to our room I am not taking another step,” Shaun said as he reached into his pocket and pulled out the key he had been giving. We are in complex Sunsire room 23 A.” Shaun said as he read the information on the card as he gave it for the girl to scan. He had been told while on the resort all guests used their room card as a type of all-access pass.

“You still have yours right?” Shaun asked as he looked back at Kate. “I don’t want you to have to take mine everywhere and I get locked out cause you lost track of the multi-pass.” looking around Shaun nodded as the bartender gave him his drink as he began to sip it. “Is there an easier way from beach access to the resort?” Shaun asked, he had walked around but the distance of this place was near half-kilometer in length. Far too big to keep walking around it.”

“Boat?” Shaun asked as he turned back, the pool area, which had to be the largest he had ever laid eyes on, had people in boats coming and going. “So we take a boat to one end and the other? You know if this wasn’t an amazing view here I would complain some more.” Shaun said with a smirk as he looked back at Kate. Getting back up Shaun began to take off his shirt as he gripped the small backpack he had which had some basic essentials in it.

“The rest can go just leave these two bags,” Shaun said, he didn’t quite know how he was going to steer a catamaran back in but he was going to worry about that latter.
