The scans revealed that the technology was adapted to suit the purpose for the ship. It was not a great invention, just a great engineering feat to try to get the parts to work together … like salvaging parts from different cars to get to make an engine move.

GM

Lissi noticed what Veyn was doing and moved closer. “Focus here,” she pointed to a corner of engineering where the signature of the cloaking device should now obviously out of place in the energy signatures of the ship. “Let’s see if we can make heads or tails of it now that it’s off.” She murmured under her breath that she wished she was on the ship now to see what they had done.

Veyn did as instructed and nodded with a hum of understanding as he saw what the Chief Engineer had pointed out. He fine-tuned the sensors as well as he could to that spot in specific, but to him it just looked like a mish-mash of different energy signatures and parts. “It really does just look like salvage,” he said with an exhale of relief.

(Lt. J.g. Veyn, Science)

From the scans, the structure was that of a miniature cloaking device that mimicked the larger Romulan device. Some of the parts were scavenged from larger cloaking devices but the most of the parts were put together with older parts and adapted for the function within the device. To the CE, it reminded of the devices that Wiz was carrying.

“Give details to our away team, do we know also are they in threat? Has the other ship made any sign they are aware of our discovery?” Calin asked Solark, he wanted to get his team time to figure this out, but he had a feeling his crew was in a vipers nest as well. He wanted to be sure he had his finger on the pulse to pull out at a moments notice as needed.

Solark checked his console and turned around, saying, “Captain, the planetary authorities have been monitoring our activities since our entry but have not acted. There does not seem to be any activity at the moment. However, I do detect a significant increase of communication activity between the various security centres and the governor’s office when we stopped the ship. When the cloaking device deactivated, the activity reached very high.”

GM

Lissi frowned. “Captain… this is almost like the device Wiz had on him.” She turned with a curious look on her face. “I wonder if the Romulans didn’t crash here at some point and the locals reverse engineered the cloaking device. Or if they bartered for the scraps at some point and the Romulans gave it up thinking this backwater world wouldn’t figure it out. We should make inquiries about both possibilities. It would help explain things I am sure.”

From the data that the away team had obtained during their survey of the planet, there was a a possibility that the parts were salvaged from a secret Romulan ship graveyard. Apparently, there were some things that the Romulans did not recycle.

GM

Also from the data obtained, there were four possible locations of this secret “graveyard”.

GM

“Chief, what do you make of this information?” Caln asked as he pulled over to her console as he began looking over the data regarding the Romulan graveyards. “Do you think you can track that down? Perhaps if we can pinpoint which ship they got this from it could help us know more on their agenda.”

Calin, CO

The locations were outside both Romulan and Federation space. The first one was a known asteroid cluster about 20 light years from Starbase 185. Another was a dwarf star system about three light years from the Romulan border, about 40 light years from the Federation system of Zakdorn. The third was between the Federation system of Gamma Centauri and the Romulan system of Talvath. The fourth was about 90 light years from either border close to the Zeta Gelis Cluster.

According to what they were able to decipher, there were parts from different class ships that were adapted into the ‘pirate’ ship.

OOC: Sorry, used the wrong character …

GM

I am lost

OOC: Hopefully I can explain, we found out that the interior of the private vessel had cloaking fields to hide their identity, these fields most likely being from a secondary source from a derlict Romulan freighter. The away team is working with the pirates to render aid and solve what they were hiding.

~Steven CO

OOC: Just to add … I will put another post in the pirate ship thread, where you are … the reason why the cloaking fields went off line was that the ship’s power was slowly going off line, when the ship was boarded.

GM

Reaching up she touched her comm badge. =/\=Sir we are losing power here. Can you get a lock on us and the crew if needed=/\= she asked Calin.

Kate O’Neill

Lissi frowned. “Four secret stashes of Romulan technology and apparently not well guarded.” The Chief Engineer frowned a moment. “Well, if we can figure out the tech specific to each Romulan style vessel, maybe we can figure out the location of salvage. This will give us a line of travel and maybe help us also figure out where they came from and why they are here.” She was frowning over the various things they had already discovered. Wiz had done amazing with what little he had managed to adapt for the city to use. What would that kid be able to do with real parts and not salvage?

And who had taught him? Was that the person responsible for what was happening? Too many questions and not enough answers. And all she could see was more reasons for the away team to be cautious.

Turning to the Captain as the comm came in, she added before he could respond. “They should be careful, Sir. If the insides were cloaked before they started losing power, we could end up double edged in helping them restore it. It wouldn’t take but the flick of a button to once more hide the occupants and we could lose our people over there.” The idea of losing her best friend, Kate, didn’t sit well with her so she quickly shoved it to the back of her mind. Kate was more than capable of taking care of herself and anyone else over there. Lissi just had to keep that in mind.
