Cargo Bay 4 was in the midst of becoming a triage center. Medics and Medical staff ran around getting the space ready, all under the watchful eye of the Chief Medical Officer.

“Triage! Make sure we are prepped for immediate biohazard containment! I want full spectrum scans run on all samples prior to them leaving the cargo bay! No surprise bugs on the ship! And make sure we have glucose bars and emergency hydration packs at the ready!”

Abel, CMO

The first transports began arriving 30 minutes later. Two female crew members, both Romulans, beamed in. They were still in their teens according to the tricorders.

GM

Abel smiled a gentle smile and said “Hello. Welcome to the Odin. I am Doctor Abel. Please, come and let us see if we can help you.” and he gestured them to the triage nurses.

Abel, CMO

The crew of the pirate ship were mostly between 15 and 19, and were from different systems. There were a number of older crew members, among them were the unconscious captain, and the chief engineer. They were in their late 20s or early 30s. They were human.

GM

The first to meet the CMO was a Romulan girl of about 15. Tricorder scans showed that she was half human. She was clearly terrified of what was going to happen to her.

GM

When ensign Wolf Reappeared in cargo bay 4 he stretched Then walked over to the medical team to see what they need him to do “did we get everyone one” he asked

Ensign James Wolf (Security)

Abel smiled at the young woman and inclined his head slightly. “Don’t be afraid. I am a doctor, and we are here to help you.” He then looked at Wolf and said “Ensign, if you would please be so kind as to get water and some chocolate bars from the replicator. I’m sure our guests could use with something to take their mind off recent events. Thank you, Ensign.”

Abel looked back at the young lady and smiled. “Now, then… can you tell me your name? I am Dr. Abel. You may call me Siegfried, if you would prefer.” he said softly and calmly.

Abel, CMO

The young woman replied, “I am called Tricia. What are you going to do with us?”

GM

“Well, Tricia…” Siegfried said calmly, “… the first thing I’m going to do is take a scan and make sure you are ok health-wise. Then, I thought we would get you all something to eat and some clean clothes. So for now, let’s concentrate on that, shall we?” He slowly produced the medical tricorder and said “Just a scan. Nothing else. Is that alright with you?”

Abel, CMO

Tricia’s eyes showed that she was frightened, but her manner was not. “It’s okay,” she said nonchalantly. “I don’t suppose you know the kind of gruel the galley is going to give us?”

GM

Ensign Wolf returned with some water and chocolate bars and was passing them around. When he was done he returned to the medical team and stayed by as overwatch.

Ensign James Wolf (Security)

Abel nodded his thanks to Wolf and took one of the chocolate bars. “Gruel I don’t think is on the menu today, sorry. Here.” and he gave her the bar. “I think the kitchen has pastrami sandwiches and Rigellian seafood chowder today. We can get you all some of that. Of course, if you prefer gruel, I imagine we could dump all that in a blender for you… but I wouldn’t recommend it.” he said with a smile and began the scan. He slowly moved the reader over Tricia’s head, shoulders, chest, back, and legs. He moved methodically and his eyes flicked across the display as the readings came back.

Abel, CMO

Tricia’s eyes grew wide. Those who were in earshot of the conversation turned their heads when they heard what was being served. Tricia composed herself and said, “What is pastrami? Rigellian chowder, we know.”

GM

Abel smiled as teh scan data came in. “Pastrami is a human food. Highly seasoned smoked meat, served in thin slices. It’s quite tasty. And the kitchen does a splendid job preparing the sandwiches. And after we are done here, barring any health issues, we can get some of those brought down for everyone. How does that sound to you?” Abel asked, trying to build on the small opening presented.

Abel, CMO

Tricia and the others looked a little suspicious, although any Betazoids in the cargo bay would be able to feel the excitement of getting some more tasty food that they were having in their ship. “If we are going to get Rigellian chowder, it might not be that bad,” she said feigning disinterest.

GM

Abel smiled knowingly and nodded feigned acquiescence to her pride. (OOC: What do the scans show?) “Well, I thank you for your allowing us to have you with us. I hope that we will prove ourselves good hosts.”

Abel, CMO

OOC: Sorry, forgot about the scans.

IC: Many of the crew were generally healthy, but were not well fed. They were not under nourished but their nutrient intake could be better. There was only one individual, a male Bajoran (Turd) who had dormant viral spores in his system and he seemed to lack energy. The treatment was simple but he seemed too proud to admit that he was a little under the weather.

GM

OOC: I am keeping this thread alive until the new CO okays a new sim. So please use this thread to post to keep from being AWOL.

Kenson

OOC: Will do. I like stretching my medical legs, anyway. LOL

IC: Abel scanned and recorded all the crew and made the appropriate notes. Once all was recorded, he looked at Nurse Washington and said “Lieutenant, how about grabbing those sandwiches and soup now, if you would be so kind?” The nurse nodded and made her way out to get the food, and Abel turned to the Bajoran. Moving him aside, Abel put a hand on his shoulder. “You have obviously been working very hard, haven’t you? I can tell from the scans. I bet you were one of the reasons everyone did as well as they did, aren’t you? Probably wouldn’t have made it this far without you, huh?” Abel asked, not with condescension, but with a hint of admiration.

Abel, CMO

The Bajoran teenager looked surprised, but just for an instant. Then he tried to look cool and answered, “We are a tight crew. We either stand united or we fall … Guess we weren’t as united as we should be …”

GM

Abel nodded. “Well, that happens under extreme stress. Relationships get tested and stress… coupled with hunger and fatigue and illness… can make even strong ties weaken. But I have a sneaking suspicion that all of you will be alright once we get you all situated. Now… you, sir, have a small issue we need to address. I need to give you some antibiotics. They will help you get a bit of a pep in your step again; help you feel a bit more like you were before all this started. Is that okay? It doesn’t hurt, just a quick pop on the side of your neck and we’re done and we can go get some you all some real food. What do you say?”

Abel, CMO

“You’re going to use that hypospray on me, right?” the teenager asked.

“I am going to trust you. If anything happens to me, I will bring the prophet’s curse on you.” he said finally.

GM

“Well… certainly wouldn’t want that now, now would we?” Abel said with an easy smile. He reached up and set the hypo against the young man’s neck and administered the dose. “There. You should feel much better in a few hours.”

Kate walked into the Cargo bay checking on the crew they had beamed over. At a fast glance, if they had been in uniform, one might think it was a cadet cruise based on the young age of everyone involved and milling around. The difference was this crew was not green cadets. They were young but had the tight knit bond forged from working together as a crew. “Where do you want this Ma’am,” the crewman said from behind her pushing a hover sled.

“Over in the corner,” she commented but pulling out a PaDD from the top of one box. Moving across the room, she made a beeline for Able who was triaging thier new guests.

“Doctor,” Kate announced her presence officially even though she knew he had seen her enter to room or at least approach him. “I took the liberty of gathering up some PaDD’s for our guests. Figured they could do with a little entertainment while we figure things out.” Flipping the PaDD around she brought up the main screen showing the games, music, and holomovie section. The PaDD’s were stripped of anything that wasn’t cultural information or having entertainment value. Kate knew they weren’t keeping these kids to raise as her father always joked about long-staying guests; however, he had another saying about idle hands being the devil’s work. The last thing they needed was for a bunch of bored teenagers to start stuffing each other in Jeffereies tubes to see who could fit where.

Kate ~earned the nickname fun size because she was stuffed in lockers and small jefferies tubes as a child ~ O’Neill COS

“Ah Lieutenant… just in time.” and he smiled at the Security Chief. “I was about to sends to the Lounge for some pastrami sandwiches. Perhaps we could get some of your people to help them? All are cleared medically, no issues. Just tired and hungry.”

Abel, CMO

It was clear that about half of the teenage crew were curious about what was being passed around, both the equipment and the food. There were some reticent ones, probably in more senior positions who seemed less enthusiastic about the PaDDs. Whilst most of them tentatively took the food, none of them activated the PaDDs. Most of them were looking at the reticent ones nearest them.

Huddled in a corner alone was Wiz, the contact the away team made when on the planet. He dared not look up and the older teenagers were looking daggers at him.

The CO was in sickbay and sedated. He was not in any danger but he did suffer the Vulcan Nerve Pinch.
