O’Connor gave a slight smile to each officer as they introduced themselves. All seemed competent, sharp and professional… even if the Engineering Chief did appear to a little embarrassed for being the last in, but that wasn’t a big deal. Garrett made mental notes on each before clearing his throat softly and beginning.

“Thank you all for coming on such short notice. I know you are all likely very busy but I wanted to take just a few moments to allow for introductions and for you to meet me away from the rest of the crew.” His voice was a warm tenor, with a precise clip to his North American accent. “My name is Garrett O’Connor, Callsign Cannon, and I was most recently the Commanding Officer of the USS Monroe in Fleet 7 where I served two years. Before that, I spent two 24 month tours as CO of the 275th Aerospace Combat Wing out of DS4. I’ve spent most of my career behind a stick and have commonly worked very closely with my staff.”

He paused and looked at each officer again, his smile widening a bit. “I look forward to the same arrangement here. I consider myself lucky to have an Exec with Commander Black’s reputation and I would bet such a rep doesn’t come without an outstanding team supporting him. Now, if you each would be so kind… I would like each of you to very quickly tell me a bit about yourself and your command style. Starting with…” The CO’s eyes roamed the officers before him before settling on the CE. “.... Chief Rosh. If ya don’t mind Lieutenant?”

Lissi looked up in surprise and then nodded. “I’m Lieutenant Ka’Lissi Rosh, Chief Engineer. Ummm I think my command style isn’t so much to command as to lead. We have an amazing engineering crew and they basically run themselves. So just being a leader, being with them, and never asking them to do things I haven’t done is about the whole of it.” The half Klingon tried to smile, the the forehead ridges once more worked against her and gave her a scowl look more than a smiling one. She quickly steeled her face and her features softened once more. “And, Sir… welcome aboard.” She had a feeling, like she always did when put on the spot, that she had rambled about nonsense. No one had ever asked her about her leadership style and she hadn’t given it any thought till this moment.

Part of her wanted to crawl under the table. Abel must think her a dullard at this point.

The Captain smiled and gave a nod to the Chief Engineer. “Thank you Lieutenant. I agree that the best place to lead is from the front. I’m glad to have you on the team.” He then turned to the Ops Chief. “Commander?”

It came to Solark’s turn. “I am Commander Solark. I am the Chief of Operations. I was Chief Science Officer several years ago on this ship until I was reassigned to operations.” The Vulcan spoke politely and in an even tone.

Solark

This time, O’Connor’s smile was warmer. “Like most Vulcans I’ve served with, I can see you are a man of few words. Short, sweet and to the point.”

Morganna walked in and took her seat. She looked slightly tired. Etak had been fussy all night and she had walked the floor with him to calm him down. She looked at the cup of coffee in her hand and sighed taking a long drink of it. She turned her attention to the rest of the room and allowed herself to feel the emotions that were coming from her fellow crew mates.

O’Connor noted the arrival of the CNS but merely moved along politely. She looked like she had had a rough day.

“I do expect a visit from you for your boarding evaluation.” Morganna said with a warm but tired smile.

OOC: I’ll give everyone two more days to respond considering the speed of the ship and then I will move forward late Tuesday/early Wednesday. Thanks guys!

Abel nodded once and said “Well… again… I am Lieutenant Commander Siegfried Abel, the Chief Medical Officer. I have been aboard the Odin for almost two years. The ship is very fortunate to have a wholly talented and dedicated Medical staff, sir. My leadership style is therefore to let them do their jobs to the best of their ability, and to ensure they have all the necessary tools needed to do so.” Abel smiled slightly, knowing that the sickbay of the Odin was one of the most technologically advanced and supplied medical spaces in all of Star Fleet thanks to a permanent endowment from the SMT (Sine Medicina Terminos) Foundation. A discussion for another time. he mused silently.

Abel, CMO

“Well said Doc…” Garrett nodded in approval. “… so many times, Medical Chiefs get a big head about themselves and forget without the staff that supports them, and vice versa, a doctor’s hands can be quickly tied. Please…” He continued. “… do make sure we can meet over tea in the next few days and you can bring me up to speed on the SMT’s grant to the Odin. I came across it in my briefing but I would love to know more about it.” The Captain moved to the next on the line. “Exec?”

Solark had suppressed all emotions of excitement about the new CO. His curiosity was roused, although not expressed outwardly. What had happened to the previous CO? Would the new CO be informing them?

Solark

When it came to Mason, he spoke easily and without fanfare. “You do me too much honour mentioning any reputation I have, Captain,” he smiled lightly, “it’s entirely due to the crew of this ship,” he let his eyes move over those seated at the table, resting on Paris for a moment and the corner of his mouth working slightly more before he continued speaking. “I was Executive Officer of the Asimov for a number of years before moving to the Odin, starting my career in Security before moving to Command.”

Cmdr Black, XO

“”The Assie is a good ship…” O’Connor smiled warmly at his Exec. “… so it’s no wonder your reputation proceeds you. Now… Security, I’ve always felt, was one of the more thankless jobs in the Fleet.” O’Connor nodded to the Security Chief next to Mason. “I was pleased to learned of your background… as the tactical aspects of the job really shine when one moves to Exec.” He then gave a grin to the Security Chief. “And speaking of the under appreciated… Chief. You’re up.”

“Kate O’Neill, with two L’s. Don’t confuse me with the O’Neil with one L because that guy has no sense of humor,” she quipped. “I’m the security chief and don’t let my size fool you. I have four older brothers. If I can handle growing up with them there is not much I can’t handle. This is my second assignment after the USS Viking. Oh and for fun I cook and bake.” Kate had a relaxed charm about her but that didn’t mean she could not handle herself in a fight. For the inches in height most security chiefs had, she made up for with deadly accuracy as a sniper.

Garrett couldn’t help but chuckle. “I’ll take that into consideration. Siblings have that affect on people. But do know, Lieutenant, my grace has always been available for purchase with walnut chocolate chip cookie!” There was a twinkle in his eyes with that comment before his eyes swept the assembled officers once more. “I want to thank each of you for coming on short notice. I know you all are busy and have things to do so I won’t keep you any longer. But know this.... while some may be newer in their role than others, the team you all have built here is a solid one and I look forward to working with each of you.” There was a confident air in the way the man spoke. One that said he wasn’t just blowing smoke, but genuinely impressed with the Odin’s Senior Staff. “Now, that’s all I have for you. I hope you all have a great day and know that my door is, honestly, always open.” He wore a strong smile as he stood. “Dismissed… expect for Lieutenants O’Neill and Rosh. If you would both hang back for just a moment.” With that, O’Connor placed two small, gleaming mahogany boxes on the table in from of him on top of two Starfleet Award folders.

OOC: I suppose I have permission to begin the next sim within the next few days?
