Garrett released the guides and pulled Addie against him with one arm, brushing her hair from her face with the other. “Addie…” His voice was gentle as he touched her cheek and smiled softly. “… you’re alright. I’ve got you.”

Addie blinked her eyes feeling him kiss her. It took her a second to register first that she hadn’t died but she just might be in heaven.

He didn’t know why but before he could think to not to, Garrett kissed Addie… pulling her into a tight embrace and being thankful they were going to be OK. After a few head swarming moments, Garrett broke the kiss and looked almost drunk for a moment before asking with a chuckle. “So… we still on for dinner?”

Garrett O’Connor

“Nah,” she looked at him not caring about the view around them but more on the blue of his eyes. “You saved my life. That might have just scored you breakfast.” Wrapping her legs back around his waist, Addie pulled herself up slightly and rested her chin on his shoulder as she took in the sight behind them. “It is rather pretty now that we are falling at a rate we can enjoy it. Next time we do this however can you plan to clip me so I face forward.” Reaching down she tried to tickle him along his side to let him know she was teasing.

“What?” Garrett smirked and jumped as she tickled his sides. He then slid his hands along the thighs currently holding him rather snuggly. “Why would I wanna do that? You seem to be… enjoying… yourself.” He brushed her hair out of her face once more. “It’s not like I planned on having your legs wrapped around me…well..” Garrett chuckled. “Generally that’s an after dinner treat!” Winking, Garrett tickled Addie behind her knees and smiled. It wasn’t what he planned when he left the platform a few minutes ago… but the man sure as hell wasn’t complaining!

“As to dinner if you are paying you can pick but let’s go try something exotic. Something we won’t normally get or replicate back in our quarters. I am pretty open except for living things. Went to a Klingon restaurant once. I learned real fast it is no fun to chase your food.” The ground was coming up far faster than Addie would have liked. This was not at all what she had thought the experience would be and yet she got to meet Garrett in the process. She felt the tension in Garrett’s body and knew he was preparing to absorb the shock of landing. Addie kept her feet up and around his waist. She wasn’t sure it would be the most graceful landing in this position but if the man stopped her from going splat, she could accept a scrapped knee if they fell over from this height.

When his feet hit the ground, Garrett took three long strides then stopped. Without even pausing, his hands scooped under her thighs… lifting her slightly. “Addie, honey…” There was the slightest bit of blush in his cheeks. “… not complaining at our current… arrangement… but you’re easier to unhook on the ground.”

“Yes but this is the only time we will literally be things eye to eye,” she replied as if it weren’t the most serious answer she had even given. The reality of her comment was far more comedic. Anyone looking at them would wonder how the man was staying up right with a woman attached to his chest. Her feet were not even close to touching the ground but dangling like a kid in a back pack carrier.

He then bent his knees and lowered them until Addie could reach the ground. He then first undid their shoulders, then their waist.

“So did you both have a good time,” the resort worker asked walking up to them once Garrett had detached the chute and Addie slid off him and onto firm ground. “If you both wouldn’t mind filling out this rating form with an honest review. If you can’t give us five stars there is a space to explain why,” the man pointed to a small area at the bottom.

“Oh you are gonna get an honest review,” Addie plucked the card from the man’s hand. “The five-star thing is probably as certain as the chute you gave me,” she shot back not angry but very sarcastic. As the man handed them their belongings, Addie looked at Garrett after checking her watch. “We both know that this changing thing is going to take me twice as long as you so maybe you can find a couple of beers and a reservation as I get changed?

By the time she’d turned back to him, Garrett had ditched the chute and had the top of his jumpsuit off and tied at his waist. His dogtags shined against his chest in the middle of his tan t-shirt. “I think I can find us something.” He smiled and for the first time gave Addie a flirty head to toe and back glance. “Got anything in green?”

===================
Three hours later.........
===================

Addie looked at the clock as she tugged and pulled at the dress she was wearing cursing herself again for agreeing to let him pick her up at her room and not downstairs at the bar. The man definitely seemed like the type to be on time whereas Addie, due to her genetics, was running about ten minutes late. Part of her was excited to be wearing the dress she picked out. Starfleet uniforms were not tailored to show off ones best assets. They were utilitarian by design because they were meant for the drudgery of the day to day and not make a fashion statement. Leave, weekends, and off duty hours you could dress as you wanted but one rarely put on a strapless dress and heels to head to the mess hall. Adjusting her top one more time, Addie looked at herself. To her knowledge she was probably the only woman in the world that did not own a little black dress. The one she was wearing sported a tropical patter with bold and bright colors. She had let her hair hang down in soft waves not messing with it much. They were at the beach after all. Looking at herself in the mirror and then the bed, Addie wondered if one more time should she change. The bed was littered with half a dozen dresses and shoes that matched. If Garrett was in security, he might just think the place was cased. Addie just wanted to look nice for him and for the first time since she met him, she was second guessing everything.

Addie Halsey

Garrett rang the buzzer at precisely 1800 (6pm) and stepped back waiting. He sported a tapered dark charcoal grey double-breasted suit, crisp white dress shirt and a perfectly coordinated dark crimson & charcoal grey striped tie and crimson pocket swatch. He looked polished and well executed, like he’d fell out of one of those old spy movies. He was honestly a bit nervous still… but once you save a woman’s life then spend the next 15 minutes wrapped in her legs… you become a bit more confident in her having at least an interest in you..

Garrett O’Connor

“Coming” Addie yelled out. From the other side of the door Garrett would hear a slew of muffled curses and a stumbling sound as Addie tripped over something behind the closed door.

The veteran pilot straightened his suit coat and gave his fingers a last-second pass through his hair, a smile already forming on his lips as he listened to Addie struggle to get to the door. My God, Mike! Garrett thought to himself with his preferred familiar moniker. Do you really have to be so punctual!? Women these days don’t give a damn about what time you show up! They only care that you drive, you pay, and you know what your doing between the sheets. He truly did hope that Addie was a bit different and truthfully, it was still to early to tell. She clearly liked him and he sure as hell liked her! The challenge will be when she realizes he was a Starship commander and probably close to a decade her senior. Oh well! Garrett’s smile, which had wavered just a bit quickly returned. It’ll be fun while it lasts!

“Sorry I,” she replied opening the door and then closing it immediately. Leaning her back against it Addie but her lip. Normally she wouldn’t give half a thought at what she was wearing yet seeing Garrett she paused. The man looked amazing and so put together. She had expected a polo shirt and jeans. SHe had hoped for dress pants but this guy had spent a hella more time getting ready past the three S’s that was their routine.

Garrett blushed and chuckled softly. “I’m sorry Addie…” He called through the door. “… I really don’t go out much and I guess I over did it huh?” He felt ridiculous now and added. “If its a problem, we could swing by my place and change real quick”

“Nope. No problem,” she replied to his question. Pushing off the door, Addie immediately kicked off her heels and began to try and unzip her dress. She needed to look a little more put together. Bouncing around the room she tugged at her zipper with one hand as she grabbed a clip to turn her hair from down to a more formal updo. Cursing at what would become known as the zipper that refused to budge, Addie twisted her hair into a loose French twist. Small curls naturally fell out of it framing her face. Reaching into her roommates closet she pulled out simple black cocktail dress. It wasn’t really her style but matched Garrett’s look far better.

“Hey Addie…” Garrett called through the door. “… is everything OK? Do you need my help?”

“No…no Im doing fine,” Addie replied to his question again through the door as she fought with the zipper desperate to change her dress. After a minute and a half she sighed and threw up her hands. “Okay close your eyes and hold your hand out,” she directed. Opening the door she put her back to him. “Okay I do need your help. Can you help me get out of this dress,” she asked ?

Addie Halsey

Garrett’s normally charming smile was replaced by a barely concealed smirk as he did as instructed, closing his eyes and extending his hand. When she finally asked for assistance, Garrett stepped forward… reached forward with one hand, pushing her gently into her room then with the other… closed the door behind him. A playful puff came from his nose as his left hand settled onto her shoulder and his right landed on the small of her back. Carefully, he slide his hand up her spine till he found the zipper.

Addie let out a small moan that was barely able to be heard. She felt the muscles in her back knot as his hand slowly traced up her back. It was not a bad feeling but it made Addie squirm slightly.

He held the top edge of the dress with his left and after a moment, the zipper moved slowly down… back to the small of Addie’s back. Before she could step away, Garrett leaned over and whispered in her ear… his lips just barely brushing her earlobe, his left hand still on her shoulder. “You really like alluding to things that should be… after dinner.”

“My understanding…” Garrett continued. “… is that dessert is generally better after a good meal.”

Garrett O’Connor

Addie raked her lip focusing on breathing in slowly. It was a mistake letting him come in to help her. The last thing Addie wanted to do now was put something back on. Her mind was drifting to the point of the night where not only her clothes were puddled to the floor, but also Garrett’s. She let out a small laugh as she moved back to her roommate’s closet and pulled out a more formal black dress. The dress was simple but hugged every curve of her body like it was a second skin. It was strapless which worked perfectly for a date in a place like Eden Prime. It would also let Addie use his sports coat later on in the night. Moving back in front of him, Addie let out a small laugh. “Okay last time with the zipper but you are getting so good at this I might need your help later tonight getting it back off.”

Garrett let out a soft chuckle and the smirk on his face grew broader at her last comment. “Promises promises Lieutenant.” He said as a roguish smile crossed his face between respectably sealed eyelids. He wanted so badly to open his eyes but knew better. At the rate they were headed, if the man played his cards right, he would have all of the woman he could handle and then some… it was no merely a waiting game.

“I am more of an action girl. Anyone can make a promise but I am only interested in those that follow through.” Addie had no doubt Garrett could launch her into orbit and bring her back in for a landing but would the ride be smooth and barely noticeable or rough, wild, and something she would never forget. “Okay two seconds and you can open your eyes,” she said moving back. Instead of telling him, she was ready however, Addie stared at the man standing in her hotel room. It was rather sexy and charming seeing him standing there with his eyes closed waiting for her to let him open his gentlemanly closed eyes. For half a second, Addie debated about taking off her dress and giving him an unexpected surprise but her stomach was grumbling.

Stepping away, she turned back around to face Garrett. “Ready,” she said indicating he could open up his eyes. Sliding her arm into his, Addie let him escort her out of the room and out to the long terrace-type hallway of the hotel. “I am so sorry that took so long,” she started the light conversation. “You look amazing and,” whatever Addie had planned to say was immediately drowned out by a series of whistles and catcalls. The noise was from a group of people down by the pool. What was more uncommon about this was the “work it baby” and “darn you look hot” comments were not directed at Addie or from male voices. Stopping Garrett from continuing forward, Addie moved to the ledge and looked down. “Seriously,” she yelled.

“Friends of yours?” Garrett mocked, an eyebrow raised slightly in question. “At least they have good tastes!” He said with a laugh as he approached the rail beside Addie and looked down to the crew below.

“I have never seen them before in my life,” she said with a dead pan expression before turning her back to him and approaching the balcony.

“Why you have to be haters,” she leaned over the rail. “You keep this up and I will not get my drunk text on and you will just have to wait until morning to hear how this hot as hell gentleman rocked my world,” Addie gave it back as strong as they did with a smile. If they were not on shore leave, she probably would have had more restraint but what happened on shore leave stayed on shore leave.

O’Connell rolled his eyes and laughed at the banter. She was gonna get him trouble eventually, huh?

“Because we are jealous,” one of Addie’s female friends yelled back motioning for Addie to come down and meet them. “Where would you rather be tonight? Hanging out with us,” she gestured to the group of women with her beer, “or on the arm of some guy that looks like that. I’m Emma by the way,” she shamelessly flirted with Garrett.

“Hi Emma…” Garrett flashed a charming smile and wink at the young lady in question.

“You know this some guy has a name,” Addie teased them back. Looking at Garrett she motioned for him to give her money. “Give me ten credits,” she asked.

Lifting the money over the rail she yelled out. “Ten bucks if you can guess his name,” she called out. Whispering to him however, she said, “I am so ready to have a night I regret in the morning so they need to know you are hands off and if they know your name there is no chance they can claim we didn’t know his name. Women are such pigs,” she hip checked him.

“Mc Hottie,” Emma offered raising her beer in a mock toast.

“McHottie…?” Garrett called down. “… but I’m not even a doctor!” He was, truth be told, enjoying the back and forth.

“Tater tots because I am so ready to snack you up,” another one of her friends joined the game of creating Garrett’s nickname.

“Oh really now?” He replied back to this one with a playfully scolding smirk.

“Trouble. Captain Trouble,” a third friend called out. “Addie said you are a Captain. Give us a command in that tone that gets your attention.”

“Sounds like y’all are the ones trying to get me in trouble!” He said with a laugh.

Addie looked down and let out a small laugh. “Guess I should have been more tight-lipped about you. Sorry,” she bit her lip coyly, “but see. Not one Paul, Tom, or John..”

Garrett turned and gently brushed her lips with the tip of his thumb, purposely in full view of the girls below. Softly, as his thumb glided across her lips, Garrett said. “I guess I need to keep these lips busier.” He winked playfully as his arm snaked seductively around the small of her back.

“Oh do not listen to that woman,” the first woman yelled up smiling at Garrett. “She has been talking about you all night”

Addie Halsey

“How about this to shut them up.” Garrett said with a charming smiled before pulling Addie firmly against him and planting a long, slow… earth-shattering kinda kiss on her. After a few,,,, incredibly delicious… moments, Garrett broke the kiss and turning to the girls his arm still around Addie’s waist, said playfully. “Hate to spoil the fun but we do have reservations. Y’all stay outta trouble.” With that, he turned and guided Addie toward the waiting ground car.

“Well…” He chuckled softly as they approached a driverless Porsche. “… think they’re jealous now?”

Garrett O’Connor

“Screw them I am jealous and I am the one with you,” Addie took his hand walking with a small pep in her step. It was then she realized he was not talking about the kiss but the vehicle waiting for them. “Oh my god no way,” she shook his hand free and moved towards the vehicle running her hands over the hood as if it were a man’s chest. Her fingers caressed each curve almost teasingly until she reached the headlights. There Addie spread her fingers out grasping the rim with a little more pressure. “Oh baby don’t tease me,” she said. From Garrett’s point of view, it would be hard to tell if she was talking to him or the car.

For a moment, for the first time in his life, Garrett was jealous of an inanimate object. The way Addie was touching the car made his pulse quicken and his breathing become shallow. to say he was turned on in that moment would be one of the biggest understatements in history!

“Talk to me,” she leaned over pretending to listen. “Oh, I am going to make you take me from zero to sixty in under three seconds and use your 1,000 lbs of torque to press me tight into those embossed leather seats of yours.” Addie let out a deeply satisfied sigh before looking back at Garrett. “Are you telling me this is ours for tonight?”

“You could say that…” Garrett smirked, enjoying watching her reaction. Most girls knew next to nothing about land transports in general, much less old cars!

“Shhhh,” she pressed a finger to her lips looking at Garrett. “Your friend here is whispering something to me.” Addie loved cars. It was cliche but she liked the thrill and feel of engines. She liked feeling the wind in her hair whether it be through an open window or with the top down. Addie loved the feeling of having to catch her breath when a sudden jerk or weave caused her body to move suddenly in an unexpected and uncontrollable way. She liked the way her breath would catch when she saw trouble up a head and was powerless to take control but had to ride it out and wait to see what happened next. Glancing over at Garrett, she could not help but equate the same rush of excitement with her meeting him.

Tilting her head back at the hood, she let her lips spread into a sultry smile. “My friend here says he is not sure you can handle this much raw power. Ready to prove him, wrong Captain,” she leaned against the hood.

Addie Halsey (worst writing partner ever but hoping this post lets you forgive me :) )

Garrett smiled a wickedly flirtatious smile as he walked over to Addie, chuckling softly. “Do I need to leave you two alone?” He winked and continued before Addie could reply. “My family has always had a… taste… for sports cars.” Looking first at the car and then at Addie, Garrett clicked the small fob in his hand. The lights of the centuries old car glowed to life and the engine, a real… honest-to-god petrol-powered monster… roared to life, shaking the ground beneath their feet. He watched her reaction intently.

“2.2 seconds… actually.” He began, walking behind her and around to the drivers side… opening so she could look inside. “I’ve had her since I was in college… that’s right Addie. This is no rental… no reproduction. She’s an original… a 2145 Porsche Taycan Turbo. The very last of the petrol-powered models before the permanent switch to fuel cells. This baby is one of only 243 left in existence… including 232 in museums and private collections… and one of 11 still drivable. Top speed of 194 miles per hour… 1,150 horsepower… 1,248 foot pounds of torque… and tops the scales at 4,109 pounds, one of the heaviest production Porsches ever made. Next to the kick from an old school fighter jet, it has the most power of anything I’ve ever piloted… flying or driving.”

Running he fingertips over the edge of the door, Addie moved in front of Garrett to peak inside of the car. Everything about the car was perfect. In fact it looked almost showroom pristine.

The inside looked like a fighter jet in some old Sci-Fi movie. Black with red trim and even glowed like a cockpit. Resting his hand on the small of Addie’s back as she looked inside, Garrett said flatly. “And no… you can’t drive her.” He chuckled “At least not on the street. She’s wicked fast, touchy as hell and has damn near killed me a couple dozen times. That doesn’t mean the three of us can’t have some fun… if you’re up for the ride of your life, that is?” He asked with a wink.

Garrett O’Connor

“Drive her,” Addie said turning around so she could lean against the frame and look at Garreet. “Who said anything about driving her? I was just thinking more about waking up…slowly opening my eyes and glancing to the left. Feeling that warm knot of excitement roll up my spine as I see Tay here out the window begging me to get up and climb in for our early morning ride before work.” Her voice held the cadence of someone doing far more than taking the car out for an errand. “You had better be careful Mr. O’Connor. A girl might marry you for this car…unless you can keep up.”

The roguish, cocky smirk on Garrett’s face as allll fighter jock. With a gently shrug, the veteran pilot chuckled. “I can think of worse things”

Addie loved shore leaves. Shore leaves meant anything was possible. Looking up at Garrett, she could not see his face in the shadows of the evening. The lights from the hotel were blocked with his body. It was almost as if this was a dream and she was about to embark into the night with a stranger. The ambiance and cool breeze rolling off the ocean created an atmosphere where every second two people could get lost in themselves. Addie pulled on Garrett’s tie drawing him slightly closer. As the inches closed between them, she waited until her body was almost pressing against his, before Addie ducked under his arm and rolled out from in front of him.

Garrett had already braced one hand on the car and the other had snaked its way to the small of Addie’s back, his breathing already shallowed when she rolled away. There was a soft growl that escaped him as she toyed with him, forcing him to roll his shoulders to release the tension in his back.

Standing next to him, she let out a flirty laugh. “Mr. O’Connor what kind of girl do you think I am,” she taunted him with a slow walk around the vehicle still letting her fingers trail the hood as she moved to the passenger side. “If we are going to look at each other like that you need to at least buy me dinner first.” Opening the door Addie slid in. Her hands rubbed the supple leather of the car’s interior. It was soft, almost buttery to the touch and filled her full of energy. Glancing at Garrett to her left, Addie bit her lip and smiled. “Ready to show me you can get my motor running in less that 2.2 seconds,” she asked leaning back in the seat.

Addie Halsey

He watched Addie move to the other side of the car like a panther tracking its prey. Normally, he didn’t really care for a woman to toy with him. But there was something about her… something that pushed every button, and conversely, rang every damn alarm klaxon in his body. She was, as he was sure more than a few would point out, /way/ too young for him. He didn’t give a damn! Addie made him feel more alive than he had felt in years. Her touch, her smile was electric. The way she looked at him drove him crazy. He couldn’t stop the opposing flashes of thought in his mind… part of him already (dangerously) seeing a future with this girl. Meeting families and trying to balance Fleet careers. The other part of him focusing on the first time he’d hear her scream his name before crashing to bed trembling in pleasure and exhaustion.

Garrett tried to wipe both thoughts from his mind as he spun his fob on his finger and climbed into the driver’s seat. Hearing her quip, Garrett leaned across her, passing purposefully very close, to grab the seatbelt… stretching it across her hips… locking it in place before grabbing the belt just above the lock. With his face right next to hers, he gave a playful smirk as he cinched the belt tight to those spectacular hips and said a rather seductive tone. “Buckle Up”

She put her hand over his with his face inches from her. Addie could feel her heart race. It was shore leave. What happened on shore leave stayed on shore leave and yet what if if didn’t. What if shore leave bled into real life? Addie looked at Garrett and debated her options. She could kiss him which based on the way Garret was looking at her, it would end with them back up to the room and ordering room service. Addie has no problem with option A but that left no room for option B. Option B was to take it slower.

Addie moved her hand from his and fisted his coat pulling him just close enough to let their lips touch. It was electric. The soft breeze blew a few of her loose curls against his neck. The sensation would feel like soft fingers caressing his neck just above his shirt collar. Addie closed her eyes and resisted shifting in her seat to a more comfortable position. This kiss was meant to entice, stir, and edge. She pulled away just as the kiss began to pick up steam. Addie took a deep breath before looking up at him. That moment was the danger zone. The zone where the lines blurred and you started to imagine what happened when you packed up and left a shore leave. The zone where you exchanged numbers and the fantasy that the bliss you lived in for ten days would continue in the real world of uniforms and long-distance romances. Addie needed to avoid it at all costs.

“You should buckle up,” Addie moved back in her seat and let a breath out slowly.

The look in Garrett’s eyes was like fire, passion glowing for just a moment before he smirked. “You’ll pay for that Halsey”

A moment later, he too was buckled… eyes forward… as the old car roared. The torque was incredible as the tires smoked and moment later Addie was slammed back into the seat as the Porsche shot off like a rocket. After an incredibly intense period of around 15 seconds of hard, crisp, precise turns later, the last more of a drift as they slid around a tour bus, the car was screaming down the Coastal Highway at the maximum allowed personal craft speed of 135 kph. Once settled in their lane, Garrett rested his hand on Addie’s thigh and glanced over with a smile. “How’s that motor of your’s coming along Halsey?”

Garrett O’Connor

“Speed is my new aphrodisiac,” she raked her lips with her teeth giving him a sultry smile. Addie let his hand rest on her thigh and encouraged the gesture by shifting slightly so he didn’t have to reach but could rest his arm on the console and keep his hand just above her knee. “Don’t stop,” she leaned back in the seat and closed her eyes feeling pressure all over her body as the twists and turns pressed her into the sear. Addie reached out with her left hand and gripped the door handle alternately gripping and releasing the supple leather under her finger tips.

Garrett couldn’t help but watch the ecstasy Addie was clearly enjoying in her, likely, first real sports car ride. Before he could stop himself from saying it, a smoldering “Don’t tempt me” slipped out with a soft growl as the pilot bit his lip… loving her reaction.

Her index finger then found it. The small indentation on the long strip of leather. Gently tracing it in a circular motion with the tip of her index finger, she finally applied enough pressure to make it react. The cab suddenly filled with a rush of air as the car sped down the road with her window open. “It feels like I am flying. Not plunging to my death like we did a few hours ago but fast…controlled.” Addie kept her eyes closed and liked the feeling of not being in control. It was a rush and thrilling but not scary. Somewhere in a part of her mind, she knew without it being said Garrett was in complete control and no matter how far he pushed, he would keep Addie safe. Her breathing came in deep long gasps. Moving her hand off the door, she ran it through her hair pulling the loose strands off her face and opening her eyes as her hand covered his on her thigh. “Can we not stop? Just keep driving like thissssssssss.....Garrett,” she said snapping out of the daydream she was experiencing during the drive as the parking lot to the restaurant he was taking her to suddenly was in front of them with the road not traveling past it but ending at it.

Addie Halsey

“Sorry Honey…” He said with a smirk. “… I’m gonna need this back.” With that, Garrett gave her thigh a firm squeeze before pulling back his hand. First settling on the gearshift, Garrett downshifted as they zipped into the parking lot. Pausing for the half-second it took to plan his move, O’Connor suddenly yanked another level in the center of the car and gave the wheel a sharp, hard turn.

Out of reflex, Addie reacted. Her foot left the ground and propped itself on the holy of holiest places: Garrett’s dashboard. Addie used it to stabilize herself and grabbed the oh crap handle that all vehicles had in the twentieth century. Car dealers back then toted them as dry cleaning hooks but no one ever used it for that. They only used it to hang on for dear life in situations like street racing, new teen drivers, and men that were performing spontaneous J-hooks. Addie’s other foot was planted firmly on the ground trying to stabilize herself.

It was like Addie’s entire world suddenly went spinning. The Porsche swung first to hard to the right then snapped back to the left sending the car spinning into a spot right in front of the Valet stand, Addie’ s door now perfectly centered on the main entry… eyes of guests and staff wide in surprise at the arrival. The turn, spin really, would have thrown Addie in Garrett’s lap if she wasn’t buckled in.

Her head snapped hard to the left and then to the right due to the centrifugal force of the spin.

Turning eyes to Addie now, Garrett smiled. “How was that?” He winked as he unbuckled her seatbelt.

Garrett O’Connor

“I’m not sure,” Addie looked at Garrett with a blank expression. “I feel like I went to the glory land but then had my passport revoked,” she let out a huge laugh. The adrenaline rush was akin to a more primal rush causing her heart rate to increase and her skin to become all tingly. The abrupt end of the ride was akin to the glow ending from the primal rush like being interrupted by a parent in the middle of the act. Her cheeks had a rosy glow and her eyes sparkled as her mouth curled into a soft smile. “I might need to experience it again…” after a refractory period, she returned the wink as her door opened from the valet.

Garrett smiled a rather flirty smile and winked back. “You look a little breathless my dear. Da’ you need a second?” The smoldering look in his eyes told Addie he knew PRECISELY what that last little trick had done to her, his eyes playfully dancing from her eyes to her leg and back again.

“Welcome to Puntan Dos Amantes,” the valet said with his eyes opening a bit farther seeing Addie’s long tanned leg still propped on the dashboard in her stiletto. Many people had arrived to the exclusive restaurant but this arrival was a first. Extending his hand, he helped Addie get out of the car and watched her as Addie adjusted her dress and hair. He had a particularly hard time not focusing on the neck line of Addie’s dress and she adjusted her shoulders. “Can I help you with that Miss,” he said in a particularly helpful tone.

The situation might have ended very differently if the valet was not some local kid about sixteen years old and probably working a summer job. He was tall for his age but definitely not filled out in any way enabling a strong gust of wind to probably topple him. Addie looked at Garret with a side glance and half a smirk.

“Like hell you will kid…” The driver, who looked like a spy in an old-earth movie, chuckled as he tossed the kid the keys. “… that’s my job. And that…” The man motioned to the slick looking vehicle. “… that’s your job. Think you can handle her?” The man grinned as he slipped a hand on the woman’s shoulder, gently shifting the out of place strap before lowering it to the small of her back.

As Garrett tossed him the keys, the kid’s eyes left Addie’s ample assets and turned to the car. “You serious…I get to park this,” the valet said as if suddenly forgetting the purpose of his employment.

“Pull her straight through… don’t take her out of first. You scratch’er and I’ll have your job kid.” He spoke firm but smiled as he turned, his touch clearly not wanting to move from her back as he offered her his arm.

“Wow I have never in my life been replaced that fast,” she joked with Garrett as she took his arm and walked up the marble steps to the restaurant. “I might have to make a rule if we keep seeing each other,” she squeezed his bicep with her fingers, “you might need to ditch my competition out there. I can’t be staged up every time we arrive somewhere.”

The pilot chuckled and flexed his arm just a little in a tease as he smiled over to Addie. “Honey…” He chuckled. “… not on your life. Two things, three actually, first… that car has nothing on you… you have far better curves!” Garrett grinned. “Second, that car is an antique. And third… as much as I love your legs… especially in that dress, you put your feet on my dash again, it’ll be your last ride.”

He laughed as he grabbed the door and opened it, the opulent interior and the stunning view from the windows overlooking the bay

Addie stopped speaking as they entered the restaurant. It was breathtaking and exclusive. The place was not set up like a regular restaurant however but small and exclusive dining areas separated by marble columns and statues, trailing bougainvillea, and wall fountains. Anyone entering would feel like they have been transported back to an Italian villa or Mediterranean palace. Addie let the maitre d’ escort them to their table feeling Garrett’s hand move to the small of her back once more as they walked. The table selected had one of the best views in the resort looking as if their table were perched on the edge of the cliff. The soft rolling crash of the waves below them drowned out any noise from the surrounding tables. Taking her seat, she let Garrett push her seat in and took in the surroundings as he took his seat.

“So…” Garrett smiled as he walked around and took his seat. “… ya like?”

“Phewwwww,” she let out a whistle. “Garrett this place is,” Addie let her words hand in the air not knowing exactly what to say

“Very… very expensive and worth every subcredit. Not like I come here all the time… but…” He smiled as he opened the bottle of Cru Bourgeois from the renowned Chateau Picard Winery and poured them both a glass. “… I consider this a special occasion worth such a trip.”

She smiled at his reply and picked up her glass taking a sip. “This place is where someone goes to propose or at least where every woman imagines someone goes to propose.” Breaking from her daydream she let out a laugh. “Don’t read into that,” she looked at him slightly embarrassed scratching her forehead with a fingernail. “I…this place was not what I was expecting but more than I could have ever expected. Kinda like you,” she cocked her head to the side slightly scrutinizing him like she hadn’t done since he agreed to go sky diving with her.

Addie Halsey

“Well…” Garrett smiled warmly. “… I kinda like you too Addie. Can’t say I’m not incredibly grateful I jumped at the chance to… well, jump.” He looked at her in a rather warm manner. “Depending on how things go, I’m hoping to see how things… go” The pilot shrugged and blushed ever so slightly. “But let’s not worry about that right now. I’m very much focused on here and now. On some of the most beautiful company I’ve enjoyed in quite some time.”

Garrett O’Connor

“Agreed,” she picked up her glass to toast him. As if the clink signaled the waiter, he appeared like a wraith out of thin air.

“Are you ready to order,” he asked looking first at Addie and then Garrett.

“Yes, I believe we are…” Garrett began. “… Addie dear, see anything you like or are you feeling adventurous?” He winked. “I can order something I know you’ll love.”

“I would love for you to order for me,” she handed the menu to the waiter.

Garrett had never even opened the menu. Handing it to the young waiter, he smiled at the young man and began. “La signora ed io avremo entrambi il numero quattro, medio bene… con i funghi portobello arrostiti ripieni e l’insalata grande da spaccare con il condimento tradizionale. Per cominciare, avremo entrambi la Pasta Fagioli. Si prega di portare una bottiglia di Veuve Clicquot freddo con gli antipasti e assicurarsi che, ad eccezione del servizio pasti, non siamo disturbati. Fatto?”

The young man smiled broadly, quickly taking notes and then added. “Signore eccezionale! ci metto subito! È così bello parlare con qualcuno da casa! Se hai bisogno di qualcosa nel frattempo, tocca il pulsante di chiamata sul vaso e arrivo subito.” And with that, the young man was gone.

Listening to Garrett, she felt like the man was singing rather than speaking. The words rolled off his tongue like a melody . As he finished up, Addie relaxed back in her seat. It had been a long time since she had felt this comfortable with someone. Then it hit her why. “You know tonight is going to be perfect,” she announced as if there had been a question posed to the contrary. “Wanna know why?”

Garrett grinned. “No… why? Wait… is this a trap?” He chuckled softly.

“Well, technically we are on our second date. First dates are usually painfully awkward and me hanging from your chest parachuting today like some helpless Kangaroo means we are on clear sailing from here on out. How much longer are you here? Me and my friends are here until next Saturday. Ten days of sun and fun and I am not going to waste it sitting on some beach staring at the water. You can do that in any holodeck. Tomorrow I am ziplining in the boreal rainforest. Any plans on your end,” she asked taking another sip of her wine.

Addie

Chuckling, Garrett sipped his wine and smiled. “I don’t know how much of the harness was necessary. You were holding on pretty damn tight with your legs.” He winked and continued. “I actually have to report for duty next Friday morning, unfortunately. Joys of command… always killing your weekends.”

“Zip-lining huh…” Garrett grinned widely. “… that mean I get to see you in shorts if I tag along like a little puppy?” He paused before adding. “Cause, that sounds way more fun than hanging out on a beach… though… I’m sure you are stunning in a bikini!”

Garrett

“As long as I didn’t get mushroom salad for dinner then yes,” she let out a laugh. She had no idea what Garrett got her but she did suspiciously hear the word fungi. “No wait,” she held up her hands playfully. “I want to be surprised…or no,” she laughed and then countered “yes. Yes to being surprised no telling me what’s coming and don’t be all set on leaving next Friday. Who knows. We could fall off the zip lines, break both our legs and be stuck recuperating on the beach. The tan lines would be for crap but the company amazing.”

It was Garrett’s turn to laugh. “Broken legs! Not… exactly… the kinda injuries I’m now worried about over the next week, but duly noted.” He gave Addie flirty wink as he reached for his glass.

Picking up her glass she raised it up for him to toast.

Seeing Addie raise her glass, the pilot joined her gesture.

“I say no talk about Friday. If I don’t kill you in the next six days and seven nights we do it Casablanca style. We take separate cars here Thursday’s night, have another fabulous dinner, and you say good bye with the classic line here’s looking at you kid”.

There was a suspicious purse of Garrett’s lips before a soft snort escaped him. “I have a sneaky feeling the last thing you’re gonna be doing is sleeping alone my last night dirt side.” He smiled charmingly bright smile.

“I have a suspicion I am not getting any sleep nights with you dirt side,” she took a sip and waggled her eyebrows in response.

Setting her glass down Addie looked at the water as she talked. “So tell me about the first or last time you have been arrested?”

Addie Halsey. Private eye

“Arrested?” Garrett again laughed out loud. “They don’t give warships to felons Addie. So, the answer to your question is never…” He paused and glanced out the window. “… though, I’m not saying I’ve never been in cuffs. Just…” There was a slight blush to his cheeks. “… that when I was, I had access to the key.”

Garrett

“So you like to be given orders. Duly noted,” she let out a laugh that shook her body. “I don’t mind being in charge.” Addie felt a warm rush fill her body. Her mind began to run with scenarios of nocturnal exploits although none of them actually involved him using the title Ma’am. Life in Starfleet was filled with titles so Addie was pretty sure he could find something better to use after midnight. “I have only been arrested once. So is that going to make a difference with you and that warship? Knowing a felon I mean.”

Addie Halsey
