The second the door hissed shut behind Mason, Garrett said as flatly as before on the Bridge. “I don’t like it. At all…” He rounded to his seat and settled into the chair. “To much doesn’t sit right with me and maybe I’m just paranoid, but I have a bad feeling not only about why we’re here but the Governor himself. Thoughts Commander?”

O’Connor, CO

“Because the guy is a weasel,” Kate said dropping into a seat next to Mason. “I say we Invite him up here. Send our team down there for a look-see and cut his communications.” Letting out a frustrated huff, she looked at both men in the room with her. “Why do people like the governor always think they are smarter than us. ‘Cause if they were we wouldn’t be here right now.”

Kate O’Neill. Cos

“He’s a weasel, but he has the interests of the big boys who keep him in his job in his interest,” Mason shrugged, making himself comfortable in his seat. “The Governor has it in his interest to look after the big corp, the ones with money that do the exporting and put his planet on the map. I take it that these overreactive natives are the producers, the ones probably wanting a better share of the profits that the big boys are making for the work they do producing the grain. He has to balance things and not make it look like he needs outside help, that will weaken his position with both sides. He’s likely caught in the middle and see’s us as a spark that will ignite a flame, and when grain is lit, it explodes.” Mason was familiar with the kind of issues the Governor might be experiencing, after all his family did own a rather affluent gem business on Deneva, it was where Paris’ ring for their wedding had come from after all. That business was comstantly caught in the middle of exporters and the miners squabbles.

“Another point, is that we should take the Governor up on his offer. He may not be able to provide the information or ask for the help he wants to ask over an open comm that is clearly being monitored. No telling who might be listening. At the same time, we need another team making contact with the other faction.”

Cmdr Black, XO

“I got the other factions,” Kate raised a finger. Mason and Garrett could have all the fun they wanted with dress uniforms and manners. Farmers meant farmer’s markets and farmer’s markets meant amazing food. “You can get the official story and I can get the unofficial one.”

Kate O’Neill COS

“Oh no, no no no, you aren’t getting all the fun,” Mason pointed his finger at Kate. “Someone needs to make sure you leave your bazooka at home and the XO would be expected to watch the ship anyway while the Captain attends the Diplomatic dinner. I should be on that other team, that way we have a little more authority in place for any meeting we can set up with those other factions.”

O’Connor nodded. “That sounds like the best pl…” The Odin’s CO paused as the Comm Chime sounded from the Bridge. =A= O’Connor… go.=A= He said briskly to the unexpected chime.

Paris looked at the data coming in and frowned. =/\=Sir, we are getting the data in from the shuttles. It seems like the vessel blocking the transmission are communicating with someone on the planet but not from any governmental agency that I can tell. My best guess at this time is the communication is with Tracer’s faction=/\= Paris reported to the CO in the next room.

Paris Black sciences.

Garrett pursed his lips and seemed in thought for a moment before giving a small nod, tapping the comm stud once more. =A= Have one of the Shuttles stay far enough off to not be detected.=A= He looked a Kate with a bit of a sneaky smile. =A= Piggyback the signal and provide the Odin with a live feed of their communications if possible. I wanna know what they’re talking about and would prefer they not know we know…=A=

O’Connor, CO

“If those factions have the ability to do that....block a planets communications,” Mason said quietly, “they aren’t exactly overreactive turnip farmers.”

Cmdr Black, XO

“No…” Garrett said flatly. “… they aren’t. There’s a part of me that wants to stop them and a part that doesn’t want them to know we know they’re there. What do you two thing… sneaky sneaky? Or beam their interfering asses into the Brig?”

O’Connor

“Well accidents in space happen all the time,” Mason smirked. “Be a pity if their shuttle was to disappear, but, for now them blocking communications might actually help us to talk to these other factions without outside interference. Maybe we try and block the blocker?”

Cmdr Black

“And miss the barbecue,” Kate looked almost appalled. “Guys think this through. It is a barbecue and there is nothing turnip framers do better than barbecue. I implore you to let me take a team down and do a little reconnoitering before we act rash and decided who is at fault and who is innocent.” Kate was joking but on some level, she wasn’t. “I am going to state again for the record, if you want to know what is going on we need a team on the ground. Once we find out I am pro brig. Rahhhhhhh,” she finished her sentence saying the last word as if it were white noise in a concert or sporting event.

Kate O’Neill COS

=/\=Sir the computers have decrypted the message from the satellite and are looking for someone by the name of Diana? We also are trying to figure out if the government knows they are being blocked or piggybacking off the signal to get intel from the Tracer group=/\=
