OOC: It seems that medical and counseling are starting get into the main sim, but thought I’d give them and whomever else another outlet to post. I guess I’ll play the role of amateur GM on this thread.

IC:

The COS sat in his office on Deck 12. He was organizing department schedules when a call came in from the deck below.

=^= Brig to security, we have an issue in the secondary cell block =^=

Ch’zaolrirh raised an eyebrow, and by extension, an antenna. Brig officer duty aboard the Olinski generally felt unremarkable. Most of the time both cell blocks remained unoccupied. On the rare instance when the ship did have a detainee, it was normally only for a short period while the ship was in transit between star bases. In some cases, the lack of activity down in the brig might even leave the on-duty officer wondering if they themselves were being detained… that is if they hadn’t dozed off.

The Andorian was no stranger to the above, having been placed on brig duty regularly during his days on an ensign. Tapping his badge, he decided to investigate directly.

=^= This is the chief, what’s the problem? =^=
=^= It’s Callahan sir, he’s hold himself up in the secondary cell block =^=

The COS had a slew of questions to ask, but decided it would be best to just head down.

=^= I’m on my way. =^=

The turbo-lift ride was short, and the walk to the Brig was not much longer. Entering into the main office he saw two security officers discussing the situation. Clearing his throat, he interrupted, “What exactly is going here?” One of the officers turned and responded, “Well Mr. Callahan has locked himself up in the secondary cell block. I think he’s gone off the deep end sir.” The Andorian furled his brow, “Is he armed?”

“A type 1 Phaser.”

Letting out a sigh, the COS began to take charge of the situation, “Restrict access to Deck 13. If you haven’t, send a report to the bridge, medical, and counseling.” The officer wasted no time. As he did, Ch’zaolrirh began walking over to the entrance of the secondary cell block. Callahan was a handful, but had he really lost his marbles. As COS, the Andorian could just override the door lock, but he had no idea what was going through the mind of the officer within. He tapped his badge once more.

=^= Mister Callahan, this is the chief, are you ok?”

He waited a moment. There was no response from within.

The request for someone to security was odd, at least that’s what Bennie thought when she received the notification. Occasionally, she was called to Engineering because of an accident there, but about the only reason she’d ever been called to Security was because of a fight where someone found themselves injured and in a cell. She hadn’t heard anything over the comm indicating something like that had taken place though.

Curious, Bennie grabbed a medkit and told Clint where she would be. He offered to help but she waived him off. “I don’t expect its a big deal, but if I need back up, I know who to call.” Besides, it’s a chance to see Thell if he’s on duty.

Bennie was smiling as she headed for Security.

After arriving, she was redirected to the Brig. A moment later, she entered, unaware of the situation.

As the door swished open, the same two security officers stood talking. One of them, catching sigh of the doctor, immediately turned away from the conversation to greet her. “Dr. Royce, thank goodness you are here. We have a… situation in th- the secondary cell block.” The officer was clearly frazzled. Pointing over to the cell block door, the officer continued. “Mister Callahan, the officer on brig duty seems to have locked himself inside.... and won’t come back out. The security chief is trying to resolve the situation as we speak…”

Within the entrance to the cell block the Andorian stood with his arms folded. He was unaware of Bennie’s arrival. He called out to Callahan once more, “James - I just want to make sure everything is all right in there?” When no response came, he let out another sigh. Calling out to the area where Bennie and the two security officers were waiting - he tried to obtain some more information, “Why aren’t the cameras operating in this block?”

One of the officers spoke back, “They are on sir, but it looks like mister Callahan has covered them with something.”

Well, the situation wasn’t what she’d expected to find. “Did something happen to set him off?” Bennie couldn’t remember having received word that Callahan was battling depression or any other disease that might lead to an outburst of that nature. She needed more information before deciding how she could help resolve the situation peacefully.

The NE responded, “Callahan? He is always in a mood. He has been on brig rotation for a while now, but he has seemed a bit more agitated about it ever since those Xarantines were brought on board.”

Before the officer could give Bennie much more information, Ch’zaolrirh’s head popped out of the entrance way to the secondary cell block, “Well, I guess we are just going to have let ourselves....” The COS paused as he caught sight of Bennie. For a brief moment a smile came across his face. Quickly remembering the situation at hand, he straightened himself out, lips and all.

She automatically responded to the smile, even though it only lasted a second or two.

Walking back into the main office he continued talking, “Hello Doctor. You got here quicker than most of my own officers would have.” One of the NE’s, now behind Ch’zaolrirh sneered at the comment.

Shrugging his shoulders and lowering his antennae, Ch’zaolrirh debriefed the doctor, “Mister Callahan appears to have locked himself in the cell block. He has blocked off the Cameras but his comm-badge is still functioning. I’m not sure what to do here, other than override the door… but I don’t know what he is planning.”

Bennie looked back over her shoulder in the direction of the cell. “Do you think he’s dangerous?” If there’s a chance, I’d like to see if I can get him talking. He might respond better to me as a woman and a doctor, than to any of you, seeing as you are coworkers and security officers.”

The COS paused, giving the doctor an opening for any suggestions she might have. As he waited, he wondered if Bennie had been getting along better now that she had more time aboard the Olinski. He hadn’t seen her much since they had dinner, but that was his own fault. The Andorian was far less disciplined when it came to managing his personal life.

She looked back at Thell. “If there’s a chance, I’d like to see if I can get him talking. He might respond better to me as a woman and a doctor, than to any of you, seeing as you are coworkers and security officers.” Bright, blue eyes looked up at the Andorian, awaiting his answer.
