“Wait a second,” Jason protested. “They left BY DESIGN?” he repeated in an almost comical concern. “As in one minute they were fine and the next minute they just all get up and decide to leave the ship? That isn’t natural. Could it be some sort of mind control? That could effect EVERYONE on an ENTIRE STARSHIP?” he shuddered as he was briefly taken back to the B movies of his youth. Such things had only happened in science fiction when Jason was young but apparently he had traveled far enough into the future where such things became a reality. Despite the heat returning to the room when Ghould restored life support, Jason’s face was pale and bloodless when he removed his oxygen mask.

Jason Harn, XO, trying not to go mad from the revelation

=^=Parker to Harn on Dragoon. They are going to fire that weapon again in 3 minutes. Were targeting it with a photon torpedo. Firing in 2 minutes.=^=

Parker CO

=^=Oh my G*d,=^= the first officer gasped. =^=Er, um, I mean, acknowledged!=^= Jason stammered as he hastily looked this way and that as if scanning for predators. It was unnerving to watch someone of Jason’s size turning right and left, almost dancing in place with that look of alarm in his eyes.

The Counselor had been standing off to the side as everyone was conversating about what to do next. “Commander....” Trevor said as he removed his mask. “I’m not too familiar with this ship’s design or security features, but wouldn’t the ship carry cameras in some of the vital locations?” The Lieutenant asked.

CNS

“We won’t need to see the footage if we don’t get the shields online if what I think is going to happen happens!” Jason called out as he dashed over to a nearby console. “We’ve got to raise the shields! Kolar, when the logs abruptly stopped, the shields weren’t up, right?”

Jason Harn, XO, trying to figure out how to raise the shields from engineering (assuming that power has been restored to the shields in the first place)

“No the shields were down.” Kolar didn’t know of any microwave that could have a similar effect to mind control, but stranger things were true.

“That’s what I was afraid of!” Jason said as he tapped fruitlessly at a console. With the power being turned down so low the LCRS console seemed to take so long to change. The computer was moving at the speed of a computer from before Jason’s time.

Ch’zaolrirh had a few ideas, but given the intensity of the microwave they encountered, he doubted that any of them would work. As chief of security, his primary concern wasn’t the safety of the ship, but of the away team. He made a suggestion to the senior officers: “The safest course of action would be to beam back to the Olinski. If that Microwave penetrated the hull of this ship, I’m doubtful the shields will be enough to stop it.”

COS Ch’zaolrirh

“We could access the batteries at the very least… God knows how long it will take the warp drive to heat up.”

Michael stood up wordlessly, moved around the crew, navigating to the manual override for backup power. It took some strength to pull the lever to bring back power. As it clicked into place, he stepped back and looked up at the lights, hoping they would come back on. “Come on.” he whispered to himself.

-Lt Michael Gould, CE

The fusion generators kicked into action and the back up power was on. It took 30 seconds for the impulse engines to come online. Restarting the warp core would need a little more time. Definitely more than the time they had.

GM

“No wait. You’re right, Thell,” Jason nodded once he ceased his unseemly haste. “It takes an hour to restore warp power from nothing. Our only chance is to beam back to the Olinski before they raise their shields.” He tapped his combadge. =^=Harn to Olinski, we’re ready to return home. Beam the away team back with all due speed,=^= he ordered grimly.

As they awaited a response, the COS thought aloud, “I think we managed to gather some valuable information just the same. Perhaps the Olinski can tow the Dragoon out of range once the next wave passes…”

Fumbling with his now half off cold suit, the Andorian anxiously awaited their extraction from the Dragoon.

COS Ch’zaolrirh

OOC: Cross Posting this just so you guys know what is happening.

=^=Captain to Transporter Room One. Beam the Away Team back to the Olinski.=^=

=^= Aye Sir.=^= Came the reply.

Parker

“I am willing to remain behind.” He activated his tricorder to emanate at homing signal. “At best the shields will protect me, at worse I’ll do what the Dragoon crew did and you can follow me to where they went.”

Kolar

Jason shook his head. “No thanks Kolar. We need that brilliant mind of yours to figure things out, not get taken over by whoever’s down there. Now that we’ve restored minimum power we should be able to use the Dragoon’s prefix code to access its computer records from the safety of the Olinski.”

The room was filled with the familiar hum of the transporter, and then they were in a different room entirely.

OOC: You’ll notice that I didn’t say HOW MANY of the away team beamed back to Olinski. I’m ASSUMING that we all made it back but…

Jason Harn, XO

As they beamed back aboard the Olinski, Michael had a look of failure on his face. When the haze fell from his eyes, he saw the two backup NEs he had left there. “What are you two doing, standing here looking stupid? When you heard we were coming back, you should’ve returned to Main… Engineering.” He spun around to face the XO. “Sir. Permission to save the Dragoon with a hairbrained scheme? The probe we dropped. I designed it to override Lt Primage’s controls and bring her aboard. It’s designed to break Starfleet controls. That’s a Pendragon class ship. I know her inside and out. I can bounce a signal from here, to the probe, to the Dragoon, and do a remote startup. All she needs is shields and impulse power to get outside the microwaves’ sphere of influence. Sir? What’d you think?”

-Lt Michael Gould, CE

“Let’s give the folks on the bridge first crack at it first,” Jason replied. “By my chronometer, they should be firing a photon torpedo any time now… Oh wait. You meant you could do it from here didn’t you? Well if anybody can manage it without drawing power from the combat systems it’s you. Go ahead Ghould. If they take the Olinski out we may have to use the Dragoon. And Counselor,” he said as he pointed his finger at Trevor. “It seems I have a phobia of getting my mind taken over that I didn’t know about. See if you can work me into your schedule on Thursday,” he said in a businesslike tone.

Jason Harn, XO

Michael nodded to the XO’s order, turned and as he dashed out, he called to the two NEs “You two. With me.”

-Lt Michael Gould, CE

The Counselor nodded, “I think we could work something out, Commander.” Trevor replied, as he placed his equipment in the locker. The Lieutenant finished stocking his equipment and turned to wait for the others.
