OOC: pasting some things I accidentally snipped out.

IC: When Ric landed, Xandra was in the hanger. She helped the little girl down and smiled. “Ready to fly, Sir… cleared by medical. Choice is yours… shuttle with you to the surface to help out, or you want me in a fighter?” Whichever he chose, she wanted him to know she was truly ready, either way.

Xandra
“Little Sehlat”

Ric was relieved to see Xandra AND hear she was cleared to get back into the sky. He wanted desperately reach out to hold her and confirm for himself that she was fine. This was not the time, so instead just gave her a smile and a nod.

“Was the doc able to confirm what happened to you? My guess is that it had something to do with the microwaves, but that shouldn’t be a problem anymore. Papa Bear and Apex destroyed all the emitters in the area. The rest of the squads are going to keep their eyes open as to what’s going on down there. My orders are to take out any other emitters they come across.”

The CAG watched Michaels and Dr. Clint escort the child out of the hangar bay. He gave her one more wave as the doors closed.

“Wait a minute–who wants me on a shuttle to the surface? And what for?” Ric queried. His eyes swept the hangar bay and he spied one of the shuttles being prepped.

As most of the the other fighters had left the bay after refueling and arming, Ric spotted the new boot climbing into the cockpit of his bird. “BANNER,” he called out, “Report to Apex as Red 5. He’s co-ordinating the patrols until I can get back out there.”

After all the checks were done, Lt. Banner was finally ready to be afapart of this mission. With everything in the flighter ready he asked,

“USS Brian A. Olinski, this is Lt. Banner, red squad, awaiting launch approval.”

Lt. Banner (Red Squad)

=/\=Banner, this is control. You are good to go.=/\=

“Roger that and the lunch switch is go.” With that Banner launched into space behind the rest of the wing.
Out in space, Red Squad and Green Squad were forming up. =/\=Red 5, form up with the rest of us. Papa Bear take lead on Green Squad, I’ll take Red. Red Squad fly first patrol, Green Squad follow. Copy?=/\=

=^=Roger, Comrade Apex,=^= came the reply from the Russian pilot =^=We will keep watch from orbit. ready to commence on your call, Apex.=^=

Banner responded, “Roger following into line with red squad as ordered.”

After Xandra explained what Ric’s orders were to be, he looked at her with consternation on his face. It wasn’t that he disbelieved her, but he thought both his and her skills would be more useful in a fighter than a shuttle. Hitting his comm badge, he connected to the bridge.

=^=Skipper, this s Ricochet. I got your message about piloting a shuttle down to the surface. Not to disregard or contradict your orders, sir, but I’d be a lot more comfortable taking a fighter down with Lt. Primage. That way we can offer both air an ground support to the surface team.=^=

While waiting Parker’s response, he said to Xandra, “Round up a flight engineer and make sure a Ranger class is prepped. With the Skip’s okay, we’ll take that to the surface..

Ricochet (CAG)

=^=Its your call Cmd. Do what you thinks best.=^= Came the CO’s reply.

Parker CO

Xandra saw Ric’s hands flex as he stopped himself from embracing her. She smiled that smile that was only for him and nodded. She really was ok.

“Yes, medical thinks it was the emitters. But I don’t think simple microwaves would cause that kind of reaction. To bad we can get the control box from one of them.” She watched him wave once more to the kid and sighed. She’s love to give him a child. But out here, in times like this, she was happy they didn’t have one. This was no place for children. And she needed to be in a fighter at his side.

As he called down to all about orders, she whistled to get a crewman’s attention. Sending them off to pass the message to prep the ship that Ric wanted, Xandra heard the reply. “Your choice, CAG,” she smiled. “I can take the shuttle if you prefer the fighter.” She knew he hated her being unarmed. But they needed another shuttle on the surface. If he wanted to join the squads, she couldn’t blame him.

Before Ric could answer her, a flight crew NE arrived with some news. dressed in a flight suit and helmet under his arm, he addressed the CAG and Green Squad Leader.
“Commander, Lt., I’m Ens. Aldrin, the flight engineer you ordered. We’ve got a Ranger prepped and ready for departure.”

“Thank you, Ensign,” the CAG replied. Keeping it professional, he nodded to Xandra to join him as he made his way toward the 3-man Ranger class bomber.”

“Care to join us, Lt.? You can either drive or shoot. I’ll handle the other.”

Xandra nodded to the newcomer. As the CAG headed for the ship, she laughed. “Given the choice, I’ll drive, Sir…” she smiled and crawled into the ship first, started her preflight and a moment later they were away.

After the pre-flight checks were made, the Ranger entered the vacuum of space and began it’s descent to the planet’s surface. . . . .

OOC: After Xandra’s response, we’ll pick this up in the Antioch thread.

Ricochet (CAG)

Meanwhile, back in orbit around the planet, the Olinksi’s fighter wing was on duty patrolling the air space.

=^=Red Squad, form up on my coordinates. Maybe a show of power will get the hostiles to back off.=^=

Ricochet (CAG)

=/\=Copy Ricochet. Everyone check in.=/\= Each pilot gave their callsign and the all clear. =/\=Red 5? How’s the view Banner?=/\= Sometimes it amused Ael how similar Romulan and Starfleet Pilot chatter could be.

The squad came into position. =/\=We’re on your tail Ric.=/\= He paused and then gave the call. =/\=Red Squad, weapons hot, do not fire unless you hear the order or are fired upon.=/\=

-Lt(j.g.) Ael Khev, Apex
