Before the landing party could advance too far ahead, Kolar’s comm badge chirped again.

=^=Kolar, this is Ricochet. we’re approaching your position. ETA 15 seconds. Today’s menu includes a couple extra bodies on the ground, or air support that comes with your choice of tetryon cannon, phaser, or a round of mini-photon torps, or a combination of all three. What’s your pleasure, Commander?=^=

Ricochet (CAG)

=^=Right now my choice is patience. Wait for my order, hopefully it will not come.=^=

=^=Roger that, Kolar. I’ll be ready to go on you’re word,=^= Ricochet replied.

When they reached where the group of people were, they saw three groups of people. There were two groups of four and one group of six. The Bajoran was unmistakably in the group of six. One of the groups looked human whilst the other looked vaguely like Neanderthals. The human group was shouting something in similar to the Angosian tongue, “Give us back our supplies!” or something to that effect, to the larger group. The Neanderthals were grunting fiercely towards the larger group. The group of six were dressed in rather raggedly clothes and the commbadge of the Bajoran was conspicuously absent.

GM

Before the away team was close enough to be spotted, Ch’zaolrirh extended his arm as if to tell the rest of the team to hold on. Once he made sure his tactical officers took watch over what was going on he turned his head and spoke to Kolar, “Mister Balfor, they are just up ahead. I don’t see any large weapons, but they may still be armed. Your orders?” While he waited for a response his two officers did their best to visually identify any weaponry on the lifeforms up ahead.

COS Ch’zaolrirh

Xandra laughed as the CAG gave their entry announcement. Setting down in a space far enough away to make weapons useful if needed, but close enough to be run to in an emergency, she tapped Ric’s arm. “Ric… there… in the larger group. A Bajoran. I don’t see a comm badge.” She kept her voice low to not let it be overheard by open comms, or even by the guest in the ship with them. “Can we say ‘out of place’? Want me to keep you covered from in here, or out there?” She tapped the phaser strapped to the wall nearby for a quick grab by the pilot.

Lt Xandra Primage
Pilot “Little Sehlat”

“I see him, but let’s just hold tight and see how far Kolar gets,” Ric replied to the fighters plot.

=^=Cover them and me, Flanking positions. And don’t do what I do.=^=

Kolar walked out into the opening his hands out away from his body and no where near his phaser. “Why are these supplies so important? Since we have tons from where we came from.” Kolar wanted to de-escalate the situation.

“I’d rather we just leave… as opposed to fighting.”

Kolar CSO

One of the women in the group of six saw the away team and said, “Thank goodness! It’s Starfleet!” A man from the same group asked, “What are they saying?”

Kolar glanced at the confused man… was his universal translator not working. “Stay calm.. we just want to go home…” He said in Standard.

The human from the group of four turned and said, “More intruders! Our food are grown by us! Are you coming to steal from us?!!”

GM

“We don’t want your food, we just want to go back where we came from peacefully.” He moved slowly nodded back where he came from. “As long as this is all of the strangers.” He said to the human that wasn’t speaking Federation standard. “We just mean to leave.”

“In fact we will collect all ‘strangers’ that are ours and leave with them too.”

“First they must return our food stocks!” growled the man who had been speaking all the time.

Xandra watched the others flank out, her own hands on the transporter controls in case she had to pull anyone out really quickly. She could only do one or two before they were overrun, but if she had to, she would.

She also set her own phaser on the console so it wasn’t on her hip anymore. “Be careful, Ric,” she half whispered, half prayed as they all responded.

Xandra

While waiting, Ric spoke to the fighter’s computer. “Computer, run a facial recognition with the groups in the clearing and compare it to the Dragoon’s crew manifest. I want to know which of those groups are Starfleet personnel.”

Ricochet (CAG)

Kolar

The computer confirmed that the larger group with the Bajoran was indeed members of the Dragoon’s crew.

GM

Kolar glanced at the Federation crew. “Give them back their food. We are leaving.”

Kolar

One of them answered, “We don’t have the food. It was taken by another group. We find it very hard to communicate with them as we have misplaced our comm badges and thus the universal translator capabilities.”

From the edge of the clearing Ch’zaolrirh and his officers watched intently. While the two tactical officers kept their weapons trained on the smaller group, the COS himself was ready to engage the larger group if they became hostile. He mumbled under his breath, “I don’t think its going to be that easy.”

COS Ch’zaolrirh

“I can’t get all six at once if this goes sideways, Ric.” Xandra was tapping across her console. “But I think I can link onto the four. If need be, I can lock on them and transport them just a few feet one way or the other. It may give us the upper hand if we need it. I just need permission to lock onto them.” She hoped it didn’t come to it. But it seemed a better idea than opening fire when they weren’t really sure what was happening.

Xandra
Pilot

Ric furrowed his brow in confusion at her comment regarding transporting the members of the Dragoon. He turned to look at their flight engineer to see if he was just a concerned. The engineer just shrugged his shoulders ad remained silent while turning back to his console.

The CAG became concerned and made a point of keeping aware of Xandra’s next comments and actions. Maybe the doctors had missed something when they cleared her. Maybe she was still feeling the after effects of the mind control.

They would need to decide within the next few seconds as the hostiles were getting rather restless.

GM

“How much food are we talking about? These people aren’t the people that took it, but since all I want is to leave peacefully. I will have an equal measure of food brought here, and I would take it from the other group. But in exchange you must escort me to every stranger that came here and I will gladly take them away forever…”

“Hold that thought, darlin,” Ric replied to Xandra. He armed he Rangers weapons and locked them on the hostile group of people.

=^=Kolar, I have confirmation that that is the Dragoon’s crew. If they don’t have the food, try to buy us some time. We can beam down supplies and food from the ship.=^=

Kolar nodded at the communication even though he didn’t respond over the line.

Switching comm channels, the CAG contacted the fighters in the air. =^=Green Squad, form up on my coordinates. Maybe a show of power will get the hostiles to back off.=^=

Ricochet (CAG)

Darling…

The had never called her ‘darling’ in professional moments. And his voice..

She glanced at him to see what the problem was. It was then she realized they were in the small fighter, not the shuttle. Her brow furrowed slightly. But they were in a shuttle. She was sure if it. “But…” She whispered a moment then but her lip.

Taking a deep breath she tried to cover it. “I meant the Dragoon could. We can relay visual of they are up there ready to go.” The tried not blabber an excuse to mistake. It would just distract him.

She glanced out the window at those gathered. She was ready for her orders, but something told her that making decisions on her own, at least tight now, was a bad idea.

Xandra
Pilot

The security team could feel the tension rising among those in the clearing. Based on the conversation, the group of 6 was the least likely to lash out at Kolar, but Ch’zaolrirh couldn’t be sure of that yet. He tapped his comm badge to quietly begin coordinating with the CAG.

=^= Commander, I have three phasers down here. Any group you are comfortable focusing on if we need to passify the clearing? =^=

As he awaited a response, he continued to train his own phaser on the group of six, while his officers watched the remainder.

COS Ch’zaolrirh

=^=Roger, Chaz. I’ve called in a few other fighter, just to show them we mean business. I’m hoping we can take care of this without any shooting, though,=^= Replied to the security chief.

=^=We are not doing anything to a group of hungry natives aside from feeding them…=^=

Ch’zaolrirh responded with a written communication, =^= Acknowledged =^=

Kolar turned back to the natives, “Show me how much meat, how much grain, how much water....”

Kolar.

A native from one of the groups pointed to a field that was half razed by fighting, “We lost our entire harvest!” From the remains on the field, it could be estimated that they lost equivalent to 80 kilograms of corn.

A native from the other group said, “We lost our herd because these people …” he pointed to the crew from the Dragoon, “ran straight into it, confusing our animals and scattering them into the forest. We had no less than 50 animals!” At this, the crew of the Dragoon looked down on the ground sheepishly.

GM

Kolar looked at the crew of the Dragoon and exhaled. “That is troubling to hear… I am disappointed to learn of this.”

=^=Kolar, we can replicate that much grain, no problem. Ship sensors should be able to locate their cattle and beam it back to them. You just have to convince them to give us the chance to get it done.=^=

Ricochet (CAG)

OOC: Cross posting this in. . . .

IC: A squad of the Olinski’s fighters appeared above the treetops and took up a posiyion above and slightly behind the Ranger class on the ground being manned by Ricochet, Little Sehla, and NE Fonzarelli.

Ricochet (CAG)

The squad came into position. =/\=We’re on your tail Ric.=/\= He paused and then gave the call. =/\=Red Squad, weapons hot, do not fire unless you hear the order or are fired upon.=/\=

-Lt(j.g.) Ael Khev, Apex

As the fighters came into view Ch’zaolrirh glanced up for a moment. He wondered if their presence would spook the natives. For now he and his team continued to focus on the groups in the clearing. There was nothing they could do, but remain alert.

COS Ch’zaolrirh

“We can offer you as much grain as you lost, plus 20% more for your aggravation and your patience. We can give you the weight in meat that you lost or if you provide us with a few days, we will find and return your animals to your pens.” He shook his head…

Kolar opened his hands as he spoke =^=Our patron Ricochet will reach out and place the 96 kilos of grain beind that corpse of trees 35 meters to the south west… He is very quick and it should be there in only a minute or two=^=

Kolar

Xandra listened as the exchanges went back and forth. The arrival of Red Squadron eased the tightness hey chest a bit, as well. When Kolar mentioned Ric being their ‘patron’ she glanced and him and whispered, “I’m still not calling you, Sir, outside of work.” She winked and but back her laugh so it wouldn’t come over the open comm they were listening to.

Xandra
Pilot

Though her previous comments caused Ric some concern, the last was something he would have expected from the pilot he had come to know. . .intimately.
He grinned and replied quietly. “That’s fine. I prefer ‘you majesty’ anyway.”

Ricochet (CAG)

The native listened wide eyed at the offer that was given. “Are you wizards and sorcerers?” they asked.

GM

Kolar laughed slightly, “No, we have had fortunate harvests and have no where to store the surplus, so we travel with far more than we need to give to those would might want some… it is convenient for both of us that we owe you a debt that we can rectify immediately.” He paused… “If you prefer we can take much longer to give you back what you lost?”

Kolar
anyone?

“Okay,” said the native, “when can we expect the delivery? Our village is just behind that group of trees.” He pointed to a clump of trees, and behind there, they could see smoke rising up about a kilometre away. The direction was actually further away from where the away team beamed to.

GM

Ch’zaolrirh continued to listen to the conversation, but lowered his phaser. The natives seemed to be complying and there were still two other security officers, as well as the Olinski’s fighter compliment covering the clearing. Since Kolar was stuck interfacing with the group, he took it upon himself to quietly send an update to the Olinski. He would let Kolar know as soon as there was a break in dialog.

=^= Ch’zaolrirh to the Olinski. We have found six members of the Dragoon’s crew. They were being antagonized by a group of natives who claimed they had stolen from local food stores. Mr. Kolar is attempting to diffuse the situation. The natives come from a village not far from here. I suspect we may be headed there at some point. In the interim I am uploading images of the individuals we have encountered from my tricorder in case you are able to glean more from the ship’s database. =^=

Following his communication, he pulled out his tricorder. Without being too obvious he took images of the groups for identification. He also took an image of the smoke in the distance. Marking the last image as “Possible Native Village Site,” He uploaded everything to the Olinski.
