Toro nodded “Would you like me to scan the surface to see if there is an unusual power source that might indicate a large computer or other system that would require the amount of power required to use this weapon?” Toro asked as she continued to scan for additional comm badges on the surface and was sending information to the away team that was on the surface.

CIO

“That’s a good idea,” Jason nodded while mentally kicking himself for not thinking of it himself. “I assumed that just because they’ve got some kind of technology that overrides our will that they’re highly advanced in other areas including hiding their energy signatures, but that’s just an assumption. For all we know they just figured out a clever way to utilize technology that we no longer use in a way we never thought of. Maybe we need a fresh set of eyes on this.” He tapped his combage. =^=Mister Gould to the bridge.=^=

Jason had been letting his mind control phobia blind him, but he wasn’t the only officer on board. There were two department heads aboard the Dragoon with him and together they could brainstorm ideas on how to make the away team’s job easier.

OOC: Ever since I saw Geordi LaForge say “Transferring engineering functions to the bridge,” I realized that there’s no excuse to leave the chief engineer in main engineering. Come to think of it, Kirk’s Enterprise had two engineering substations on the bridge too.

Jason Harn, XO, finally giving Sam Pennington a chance to post something

=/\=On my way sir.=/\= Within moments, Michael appeared. “You rang? I had Shaw transfer engineering controls to this console, we should be good to go. What can I do for you Commander?” He appeared to be in better spirits now that the ship was at least at basic function.

-Lt Michael Gould, CE

“I just thought it would be a good time for the officers aboard this ship to put their heads together and brainstorm for a bit,” Jason shrugged. “Let’s figure out what we know and see if we can find out more. Maybe we can find a way to help the away team down there. So… what do we know? What have we observed?”

Jason Harn, XO

Toro could locate the commbadges at various places on the planet: some had people nearby them, others did not. Just then a comms station showed that there was a commbadge to commbadge message on the planet. The commbadge of the one sending belonged to the XO of the Dragoon, Lieutenant Commander Conan Hartwell. He was attempting to communicate with the Dragoon’s CO.

OOC: I don’t remember giving names for the crew of the Dragoon. If I had, please point to the post. I have been searching and came up empty. :(

GM (who has gaps in his memory)

OOC: Don’t worry I don’t recall any names being given out either.

R Smith, AKA Jason Harn

OOC: The only names I can recall were the names of the child’s parents. Lt. Paul Reiser (eng) and Ens. Judith Reiser (Stellar cart) –Terry

OOC: Thanks aplenty!!

Toro looked over at Harn “It looks like the first officer is trying to contact the CO. So that could negate the theory that they have taken off their comm badges.” She said as she continued to scan for additional comm signs “Or does he think the Captain is still aboard the Dragoon?”

While she was running the searches, she began pulling up the crew manifest to learn more about the crew that might be useful to the teams on the ground.

CIO

“It depends,” Jason replied. “Is he hailing the Dragoon or trying to talk to the owner of another combadge?”

Jason Harn, XO

“I doubt anyone is trying to call the ship. Last logs indicated they intentionally shut down and abandoned ship. We could try intercepting and listening in.” Michael said. “If they’re under some kind of influence, or just coming out of it, we might hear something.”

-Lt Michael Gould, CE

“That’s a good idea,” Jason replied. “If we can hear what they are saying to each other we might be able to determine whether or not we can trust them. Toro, I know that combadge transmissions are encrypted but since we are aboard the Dragoon can we listen in on their conversation?”

Toro nodded “Yes, we should be able to listen in.” She said “Let me make some modifications to the comms.” She said as she touched several buttons on the console and then nodded to Harn “We should be able to hear what’s going on.”

Listening in, it was discovered that the XO was at a point 3 km from where the away team was. Sensors located another 5 comm badges at the location but there were two more life signs The computer confirmed that the voice belonged to Lt. Cmdr. Hartwell.

GM

“Mister Gould, take Ops,” Jason suggested. “As long as we’re short handed, this is a good time to cross train.”

“I have confirmation that the transmission is coming from the XO’s combadge and it is his voice coming across. There are 5 more combadges and 2 more life signs.” Michael looked back toward Harn. “We’ve got a pinpoint location on the XO. Approximately 3 kilometres from the away team. Next move sir?”

-Lt Michael Gould, CE

“Send the data down to the away team,” Jason decided. “Let them know where everybody is so they can get a first hand look at the situation before we start beaming people up. We beamed over a lot of people from the operations and engineering department but so far the Dragoon doesn’t have any security specialists aboard. Toro, those lifesigns, are they armed?”

Jason Harn, XO playing it safe

The XO, it seemed, was trying to get the CO to come to his position. They were already able to contact 24 of their crew members and a pair were able to reach his position just then. The 24 crew members had agreed to keep a look out for their own crew members as they moved to the RV point where the XO was.

GM

OOC: Even though an Olinski class bridge doesn’t have an ops station, the LCRS consoles can be configured to any station needed. Since Tyra Schroll has a character on almost every ship in the fleet, I figure it couldn’t hurt to give Gould access to sensors and communications too.

Jason Harn, XO modifying his last post

“Transmitting everything now sir.” With a few taps, Michael sent everything to the away team. =/\=Dragoon to away team. You should have data with crew member locations including a rendezvous spot set up by the XO.=/\=

-Lt Michael Gould, CE

Toro continued looking through the crew manifest as they waited for additional comms to come in.

CIO

She didn’t have to wait very long. Balfor Kolar sent a transmission not to the Olinski, but to the Dragoon.

=^=XO, we need a supply beam down near these coordinates, 100 kilos of grain and corn products, along with five times that in animal protein dried for long term storage. Put phoshorous illumination around the beam down site and put it with a few phosphorescent rocks for easy locating. =^=-

“Did I hear that right?” Jason asked out loud. He shook his head. Apparently Kolar wanted to create some sort of long term camp for the Dragoon’s people until it could be determined whether or not it was safe to let them back on their starship. =^=Dragoon to Away Team, we read you Mister Balfor. Sending down 100 kilos of grain and corn products, plus 500 kilos of jerky. Will mark the supply dump with phosphorus illumination for easy recovery. Over.=^=

“We don’t have a lot of people in services over here do we?” Jason asked the others.

Toro shook her head “No we don’t.” She said “I am concerned that this is not going to resolve the problem that is going on here.” She said “My concern is that this is a trap of some sort and we have given them what they want. They have no reason to keep their end of the bargin.” She added realizing that she sounded slightly paranoid.

“Mister Gould, see if there’s anyone from Operations who’s aboard who can take care of that,” Jason decided.

Jason Harn, XO

=^=Olinski to Landing Party and Dragoon. We have the images and are preparing to beam down the requested supplies. Landing Party what is that smoke related to?=^=

The Captain had opened a com between all three groups.

Parker CO

Toro brought up a visual of the planet looking for the smoke that Parker was talking about so that they could give him an answer.
