Xandra shook her head. “No I didn’t… I mean, I would know the Ranger can’t do that. I mean, you taught me that ship, yourself.” When he asked about her feeling the affects of the mind control, she took another step back. “You don’t believe me? You drag me out of my fighter because you don’t want me to fly?” The words came out but she suddenly realized they were wrong. She hadn’t been in her fighter. “Ric?” The panic in her voice was real.

She moved to the wall to lean on it as she bent over, her hands bracing on her knees. “I was fine, I mean… I am fine…” She closed her eyes to keep from looking at him and forced herself to concentrate. “Ric… pull them back. If they’ve been affected, pull them back. The headache…” She looked up at him and there was a moment of clarity. “It has to do with the headaches. It was gone, when I was cleared. It came back as we headed for the planet. I figured it was just the noise of the craft and the stress of what had happened. But I still have it.” She bit her lip and held her hand out. “I’ll go to medical. Get the others, Ric… get them off the planet. The whole crew. The pilots… everyone who was there.”

Ric relaxed his voice. He was still upset at the way things had played out, but wanted to reassure her nobody else was in danger at the moment. “Nobody else has any headaches, Xandra. You were the only one affected. Everybody else is okay.”

She was moving towards medical now. Each slow step punctuated by a look of fear on her face as she realized she had been a liability. She could have slipped further. She could have killed them. The look in her eyes would give him a clue to her thoughts despite her not voicing it. She was compromised. But it meant the others were too.

The CAG reached out to take a hold of her arm to help her along when the call from Kolar came over his comm badge. She tried not to lean against him, but she did hold his hand. “I’m sorry…” she whispered just before the comm call.

“Xandra get to sickbay and stay there. Make sure they run a full scan on your head. Somethings not right yet. I want you to stay there until I can talk to the doctors. Promise me.”

She nodded. “I promise. I’ll stay till you come get me.” The resignation in her voice would be evident, but she knew what could have happened. She wouldn’t risk anyone else.

After her reply, Ric took off at a sprint headed for CIC>

Ricochet (CAG)

She watched him go and headed for medical.
