“We have the Olinski and the away team Commander,” Ensign Shannon Duffy reported.

“Attention Olinski and away team,” Jason announced in his ‘stage voice’. “We’re detecting a massive energy surge coming from a hill approximately one kilometer from where the fighters are now. The energy is channeling to the destroyed emitters and we don’t know what’s going to happen when it gets there. Over.”

“Commander? Did the fighters get a good look at the emitters before they blew them to hell? Beam emitters don’t have to be large to cover a large area. Think about a ship’s shields. The emitting array is significantly smaller than the area covered. Maybe the emitters were repaired or replaced.”

As if reading Gould’s mind, Balfor’s disembodied voice was heard in the bridge.

“Oh son of a…” Michael gasped “Commander, we don’t have a choice. They may not just be repair bots. They may be boosting the range to hit the Olinski. We have to at least tell the Olinski to mod the shields.”

“Agreed Mister Gould,” Jason nodded, “but I had something a little more proactive in mind.” He hit a button on his chair. =^=Acknowledged Apex. Harn to Olinski, requesting permission to train the Dragoon’s phasers on the emitters. It’s not a permanent fix but it will buy us some time.=^=

Toro looked at the information “The Olinski needs to move back. We can intercept if we need to.” She said as she moved to train the phasers on the emitters “We may also need to take out those drones. If they are repairing the emitters it may become an issue.” She added.

“Alright Toro, fire a nice wide beam,” Jason ordered as he turned to face the tactical station. “See if you can get as many of those repair drones in the process…”

Toro entered a firing sequence just as Balfor’s voice broke in and she changed the firing sequence to fire off target “Standing by to fire.” She said looking over at Jason.

Balfor’s voice broke in. =^=Commander, If I may suggest, fire one volley off target, before targeting the emitters. That should give the repair drones time to retreat to their base. The Red Squadron can follow them home, destroy the repair hanger - Then we’ll follow on foot and investigate the home base. =^=

Ric broke into the conversation from CIC. =^=Harn, I concur with Kolar. Whoever is running this show has got an underground base and we need to get access to it to put these mind-controlling zombie makers out of business. Apex, do you copy on those orders?=^=

“Um okay, fire a volley off target and then fire a narrow beam,” Jason backpedalled. “Try to surgically hit the emitters and avoid collateral damage. Wait until Ric reports that his fighters are clear.” He pressed a button on his chair. =^=Acknowledged Dragoon. Let us know when your fighters are clear. =^=

Adding to the chatter, another comm came through to the Dragoon.

=^= Ch’zaolrirh to Dragoon. We have six members of the Dragoon’s crew here with us. I am tagging them now for you. We need you to extract them. =^=

OOC: assuming that the last order went smoothly… but keeping the plot moving along.

OOC: Yes, they would be. I was just waiting for some posting regarding transport … oh well! :)

The radio chatter remained persistent.

=^= Ch’zaolrirh to all. The away team is splitting up. I’m taking a security officer to investigate that hill. I suspect it is where the drones originated. Mr. Kolar is taking another security officer to the nearby village. I suppose that leaves the transmitter site to the fighter wing. =^=

COS Ch’zaolrirh

Jason turned to face Gould’s console. “Mister Gould, take whatever staff is the most competent with a phaser and beam up the six Dragoon crewmembers as soon as Toro drops the shields. Bring them to the bridge if you think that it’s safe to do so.” He turned to face his tactical officer. “Toro, as soon as its safe, drop the shields and raise them again as soon as the Dragoon’s people have been beamed up. It’s probably just a precaution but there’s no point taking chances.”

In the mean time, the tactical station showed that the torpedo fire had had their desired effect. The drones retreated into the ground through an exit point.

Toro nodded as she narrowed the firing beam and fired, dropped the shields and locked onto the Dragoon crew and beamed them back to the ship and quickly re raised the shields “Commander, I believe I have all the crew of the Dragoon aboard.” She said as she looked over the transport signatures “Shields are back up and we’re ready for an attack.
