SNIP

“Good Morning, My name is Balfor Kolar. I bring greetings. We’ve learned that some of our friends were stranded near here a few weeks ago and we would like to collect them and leave.” Kolar tilted his head to his tricorder. He could get a bio=scan of this person and know if this was one of the natives, a Federation citizen or any number of other possibilities.

Balfor Kolar

“Do you mean Turban? She has been the best thing to happen to our village. You want to take her away?” asked Chuncang. There was a hostile edge to his voice.

GM

“I don’t know this Turban,” although he used the name to see if she came up in his records of crewmembers, “”And I’m not sure about taking away. If she is one of our people, she’ll probably want to go home to her family. I’m not a kidnapper, I’m just here to help. Perhaps it would be best for her to know i’m here and we can work out the details later. “

Kolar

That last remark about returning to her family softened Chuncang. Kolar had reminded him of some of the orphans in his village. “Come this way,” he said, “I’ll bring you to see her.”

He brought them into the village and they had probably gone halfway through the village when they stopped.

“Turban,” he said, “there are some people to see you.”

A woman emerged from the hut, wearing a hood that covered most of her hair and her ears. From the slanting of the eyebrows, Kolar could tell it was a Vulcan. Her face did not register anything when she noticed the Starfleet officers. “Are we able to leave the planet?” she asked in Vulcan, which the Starfleet officers’ universal translator caught immediately but Chuncang and Chattwan looked very puzzled.

GM

“Yes,” Kolar answered the question in the open. Not that the word Yes would reveal the content of the Vulcan comments. “I’ve heard that you’ve done some things that have made you very popular here. I certainly hope you’ve kept in focus, the prime, issues that we must keep, directly, in our thoughts when we act with and for others.” Kolar smiled as he spoke.

“In any regard, our homes will call for us.”

“I am T’Phran, science officer,” replied the Vulcan woman. “Once the controlling sound had ceased, I was able to help the villages when they were attacked by other individuals. I merely suggested improvements to their designs which made use of the three classes of levers. With that, they were able to erect stronger walls to protect their village. I do not believe that I had infringed the Prime Directive. I had also helped them in the preparation of their medicines. I had merely requested that they clean their bandages and other dressings. I merely pointed out what they would have observed in time: that clean dressings would mean better chances of healing.”

GM

Kolar glanced at the native, “I’m not certain you are in compliance, a change from a catapult to a trebuchet is a lever advancement… clean bandages might have been observed but who know when it should happen, but that is neither here nor there.” Kolar tilted his head.

“Say your goodbyes, collect anything that is anachronistic. Do you have anything else useful to report?” Kolar seemed confused, the Vulcan was particularly helpful in a borderline regulation way.

Kolar

The Vulcan was about to say something but held back. She simply replied, “Yes, sir.” She went to the village chief and said, “Chuncang, many thanks for your hospitality. I will have to go, my people need me as well.”

Chuncang nodded solemnly. It did not need a Betazoid to realise that he was sad to see the Vulcan go.

GM

Kolar nodded as well, “I hope that all our people leave friends behind, because that means that they have done right by those they met.” He nodded back towards the edge of the village. “If you find any more strangers, particularly those garbed like me.” He gestured at his uniform. “Inform them to reach out. They will know how, but not all strangers are my people. So do be cautious.”

Chuncang nodded and waved as the Starfleet officers moved away.

He turned to the Vulcan as spoke softly. “When we are clear you will beam back to the ship and help support rescue and recovery efforts.”

Kolar.

“Understood,” replied T’Phran.

GM

=^=Dragoon, this is Commander Balfor, we are clear of the natives. Beam Science officer T’Phran up, clear her medically and return her to duty. As to me, beam me site to site to the other away team.=^=

Kolar
