He glanced over at the young officer manning comms. “Mister Koizumi, create a link with all of the combadges of all of Dragoon’s people down on the planet. Sending only, the Dragoon’s computer can keep track of how many acknowledge. I want to make an announcement, and let everyone down there know they are about to be rescued.” He glanced at the information coming to him on the screen of on the arm of his chair. “Let the transporter room hear my announcement as well. I want Gould on the same page as the rest of us.”

Aye sir,” the young ensign nodded. “Channel is open.”

=^=Attention all hands, this is Commander Jason Harn of the USS Brain A. Olinski speaking. We have recovered the Dragoon and at this very moment are locking onto your combadges in order to facilitate a speedy rescue. You are ordered to break any contact you have with the natives and signal that Dragoon when you have done so by tapping your combadge. The Dragoon’s computer will register who has done so and who hasn’t. Make sure that Prime Directive safeguards are in place. We don’t want the natives to panic when they see people disappear in a flash of light right before their eyes. Harn out.=^=

He drew his fingers across his throat in order to signal that he wished to end the transmission. Ensign Koizumi nodded and tapped a button on his console. Jason then pressed a button on the arm of his chair.

=^=Did you get that Mister Gould?=^= he asked the chief engineer in the transporter room. =^=Make a list of the Dragoon’s crewmembers so you can keep track of which ones are ready to beam up. Beam up the Dragoon’s transporters first; they can man the other transporter rooms and free you up for other duties. =^=

=^=Thank you, Gould. Harn out.=^= he acknowledged before fiddling with the controls on his arm rests. Soon a window opened in the top left hand corner of the main view screen to display a crew list of the Dragoon with the names of those aboard highlighted. He was about to get up and head to the transporter room but hesitated. Until the Dragoon’s officers and crew could be recovered they were operating with a skeleton crew. In such circumstances, his place was on the bridge. In any case he had no doubt that the highest ranking officers recovered would soon be paying him a visit.

Almost immediately after his response to Gould was given, the computer started to register small groups of commbadges activated. The identities of the crew members were confirmed by the computer.

Jason tapped a button on his armrest and the window keeping a tally on the Dragoon personnel vanished from the main view screen. “Mister Suvok, keep track of how many of the Dragoon’s people we’ve recovered,” he said to the young Vulcan sitting at the Ops station. “I want to know when we can free up Gould so he can escort the officers to the bridge so I can debrief them. Duffy, keep your sensors trained on the away team. The Olinski is studying the derelict under the polar cap. We don’t have to concentrate on that.”

“Aye sir,” Ensign Shannon Duffy nodded.

“Commander do you wish to inform Mister Gould that you wish to debrief the Dragoon’s officers?” Ensign Suvok of Vulcan asked him.

“I thought I’d give him a chance to beam up some of them before I bothered him,” Jason shrugged confidently as he rose from the commanding officer’s chair. “I’m going to check out the ready room,” he said to Toro before heading for the door. “It’s probably the best place to debrief everyone. I’ll be right back. In the meantime, Toro, you’ve got the bridge.”

After he entered the Dragoon’s ready room he glanced behind him sheepishly and tapped his combadge. =^=Harn, to transporter room. Mister Gould, after you’ve finished beaming up the Dragoo’s senior officers, I want you to escort them to the bridge.=^=

The turbolift doors hissed open and the Michael brought the Dragoon’s senior officers onto the bridge. He looked around and then tapped his combadge. =/\=Commander, we’re here.=/\=

Jason exited the ready room and returned to the bridge while assuming a façade of nonchalance. “Thank you Gould. You may relieve Toro at the conn.” He then turned his attention to the group that Michael had brought in. “Hello there. I’m Commander Jason Harn, first officer of the USS Brain A. Olinski. You’ve already met Mister Gould, our chief engineer. This is Lieutenant Maritza Turcio at tactical, Ensign Tenchi Koizumi at comms, Ensign Shannon Duffy at the helm and Ensign Suvok of Vulcan manning ops. Welcome back aboard the Dragoon. You must have quite a story to tell. If you come with me to the ready room you can give me the short version,” he said as he gestured back to the door from which he came. “But first, why don’t you introduce yourselves? To whom am I addressing?”

=^= Parker to Harn. What’s the status on the Dragoon. Can you and Gould leave it and beam into that ship we have detected? Our info says its a relatively safe beam over but were not sure what’s there.=^=

“‘Scuse me,” Jason said as he walked over to the command chair and pressed a button on the arm. =^= Harn to Parker, we are currently in the process of beaming up the Dragoon’s crew. Mister Gould has brought the senior officers we’ve rescued so far to the bridge. I was about to debrief them. As for whether or not Gould and I can beam down, just let me check. Won’t be a moment, Captain.=^=

He took his finger off the button and looked up at the group of officers standing before him. “Are any of you the captain or first officer?” he asked.

Toro nodded “Commander, if you need to remain here I can take Gould with me and go and check out the ship.”
