=^=Da, Red Three,=^=came the thick Russian accent of Papa Bear, =^=tunnel is tighter than a Siberian virgin (SQWARRRK). . .=^=. The rest of Papa Bear’s cpmment was cut off by a burst of static. . . .

Papa Bear (pilot)

OOC: Kenson, any info you can provide on the wall panel (see above post).

OOC: Sorry for the delay. I’m back from my LOA.

IC:

Apex chimed in =/\=Ok Papa… Everyone, let’s keep the channel clear.=/\= In his own way, Papa Bear was right though, it was close quarters.

-Lt(j.g.) Ael Khev, Apex

There was the telltale twinkling whine of a transporter in operation as one form appeared behind the security officers. “Ah, Gentlemen.” Kolar began as he looked at the assorted persons. He nodded, at least they didn’t get themselves dead, which demonstrated this plan to cut the teams into two different parties wasn’t completely foolish.

Both security officers turned at the sound of the transporter. Callahan lowered his phaser once he realized it was the CSO. Ch’zaolrirh still with a finger poking the inside of the panel, raised his antennae. Realizing how foolish he must have looked, all he managed to blurt out was, “Lieutenant Commander.”

Kolar tilted his head at the security officer poking at a panel. “I’m not certain that is the best way to go about resetting a system.” Kolar pulled out his tricorder and began to scan the system.

Balfor Kolar cSO

As Kolar got to work Ch’zaolrirh took a step back. A bit more collected he gave the CSO a quick briefing, “You arrived just in time. Two of our fighters just moved down the tunnel ahead. We believe there are active drones down there, but we don’t know if they are hostile. We are waiting on an all clear before heading down ourselves.”

Ch’zaolrirh (COS)

“Well with drones, you can always play it safe… since there is no risk to life.” He tilted his head as he read his screen.

The tricorder showed that the drones ahead were maintenance drones that had moved back before the repairs to the microwave systems had been fully restored. There was a pair of security drones on the way to where the fighters were.

‘Maintenance drones… hold the phone,”

The programming was not difficult to understand. However, there were many layers of subroutines, and to get to the core of the system was going to take time. Switching off the maintenance drones was just a touch away. The security drones were also quite easy to disable. However, there were a few subroutines that would be activated when the drones were switched off. It would take some time to find out what wold be activated …

GM

Banner remained in flight formation waiting further orders; he watched as his panels read all go and waited for “something to blow up.” To Banner, it was a better day when he was able to blow things up and, of course, it was fun.

Lt. Banner

=^=Attention Red Squad, the two drones ahead are standard maintenance drones, two more security drones are coming up. Evade or Deal with them if you can… I need to figure out what happens if I turn them off.. =^=

Kolar handed his tricorder to Ch’zaolrirh, “Now if you look at the power flow, that shows what routines are in operation. That,” He pointed to a line of code, “Is a if/then switch, which occurs when we turn of power.... we have to track where the then goes....” He looked into the system.

Kolar

Ch’zaolrirh looked over the tricorder. Programming was never his strong suit. He nodded to show that he was following along as Callahan kept watch over the group. Pointing to the last segment of the line Kolar singled out, he attempted to contribute, “Then wouldn’t this part here be in the next line we are looking for?”

COS Ch’zaolrirh

“It could be,” Balfor stared at it for a moment. “I don’t quite have the programming language down. I can follow the orders, it all has to be systematic, I don’t really know what it says. For instance all that could be is a line saying ‘ignore me, go to the next line.’”

=/\=Red Squad, get ready. Maintenance drones are priority targets, Papa Bear and Red 3, track and destroy. I’ll run interference with the security drones. All wings, weapons hot. Maneuver on my signal.=/\= Apex put himself between the drones and the other fighters. =/\=Go.=/\= He opened fire. =/\=Don’t look back.=/\= Elements protect me. he thought.

Lt(j.g.) Ael Khev, Apex

In the cockpit of his fighter, Papa Bear’s face broke into a grin. He squeezed the trigger of his ship’s phasers and said, =^=Передай привет моему маленькому другу (Say hello to my little friend.)=^=

Papa Bear (pilot)

Smiling Lt. Banner said out loud, “Alright time to BLOW something up! This is what I signed up for....”

With that Banner fired on the targets and listened as his weapons fired; it was music to his ears!

The maintenance drones were no match for the fighters. They disintegrated when shot. However, the destruction of the first drone brought about a change in the lighting of the place. Sensors showed that the whole area was being scanned by sensors that were being activated.

As firing commenced, Ch’zaolrirh instinctively grabbed Kolar by the shoulder. Shouting for the group to take cover, he pushed the CSO a bit to get him to brace against the wall beside the panel. Doing the same on the opposite side of the panel, he looked around. It seemed nothing was headed their way for the moment. Turning back to the CSO he apologized, “Sorry commander, just a precaution.” Holding the tricorder back out to Kolar, he reached for his phaser with his other hand.

“Thanks, I guess,” Kolar shrugged his shoulders, “Better to be protected, than volunteered for a sacrifice… I guess..” He exhaled. “I hope those were the security drones, I alerted the fighters so they wouldn’t waste their time, ammunition, and advantage on drones that only fix things.” He did not seem convinced that his hope was true.

Callahan, now in a couching position continued to look around the corner as the lighting changed. “It looks like something’s exploded down there.” Ch’zaolrirh acknowledged, “It doesn’t take antennae to realize that Ensign. Anything coming up the pass?”

COS Ch’zaolrirh

The security drones were tougher to handle. Due to the sensors, they were able to evade the shots. In the first place, they were able to shoot back. The shots were also rather close. They were shooting bolts that were very high energy lasers. The heat was also very high. Although the drone’s shots did not hit target for the moment, the heat as the shot passed by the fighters were able to leave burn marks on the fighters hull. One shot actually hit one of the installation’s side panels and it caused a large hole as a result.

Kolar and Ch’zaolrirh were able to reach into the core and powered down the section they were in. It was more difficult to reach a total shutdown.

GM

“One down, Maybe if we focused in the high data usage systems. That should be the security drones as they have to process more information quickly to be effective as a combatant.”

Kolar

As Callahan continued to gaze down the corridor, Ch’zaolrirh continued in his attempt to offer assistance. “If the security system is worth anything, it should be prioritizing power to whatever defenses it can right now…”

The Andorian paused for a moment. He was concerned that the system might recognize Kolar’s intrusion if everything wasn’t offline soon. Turning his head in the direction of the battle he attempted to focus in on the vibrations. One of the few things his antennae were actually good for were sensing atmospheric changes. Perhaps he could pick up on whether or not anything was headed their way.

COS Ch’zaolrirh

“Your theory makes sense Chief.” Unfortunately finding the operations line wasn’t as easy as disabling it.

OOC: Exciting!

Sidney

“Fvadt.” (Damn it.) Ael tried to get a torpedo lock on at least one. =/\=Red 3, Papa Bear, as soon as you are clear of maintenance drones, come and assist. Flank maneuver Delta-4. Hit ‘em from behind, don’t let them see you.=/\= he briefly switched to the away team channel. =/\=Duck and cover boys and girls.=/\= As soon as he could get a lock, he let a torpedo off the chain.

-Lt(j.g.) Ael Khev, Apex

=^=Da, Comrade Apex. Delta-4,=^= replied Papa Bear. He effortlessly maneuvered his fighter through the corridor until he was able flank the security drones. He launched the mini torpedoes after the target was locked. =^=Time to light this place up like the 8th of March.=^=

Papa Bear (pilot)

Ael’s torpedo hit one of the security drones. It disintegrated as the torpedo exploded on impact.

Ch’zaolrirh could sense the change in the air as the ionisation went up with the destruction of the security drone. He was also able to sense that there were more security drones arriving from the passageway ahead of the fighters.

Kolar was successful in getting past the next set of subroutines and shut down another major part of the installation. From what he could decipher, it seemed that the maintenance drones would not be coming to repair the damage. What was more disconcerting was that the system had begun to deploy subroutines to block Kolar’s intrusion. It seemed that one particular section of the code was more protected than the rest that were still functioning. The code was not too complex for Kolar but it was many layered and time was not a luxury at the moment.

GM

“It’s adapting.” Kolar looked at it. “I can keep ahead of it, but It’s going to keep me stuck to an access point to counter program.” He looked ahead. “You were doing well, I think it might be time to split up again, Mr. Ch’zaolrirh.”

Balfor CSO

Ch’zaolrirh turned back to the CSO, “Something else is coming. I don’t know what, but I imagine more security drones. If the system is adapting this area might be too dangerous for any of us of on foot…” As he continued to watch Kolar work at the panel, he tried to think of a solution. “Commander, do you think there is any way to continue your work remotely?”

Ch’zaolrirh (COS)

As he said this the fighters had managed to corner the remaining security drone. It, too, did not escape the fighters’ combined strategy. However, it was too early to celebrate. Sensors showed that two more security drones were on their way. They were two minutes away from contact.

GM

“It’s not an uplink.” Kolar commented without looking up. “Maybe I can hook in my tricorder, then link it to another tricorder. But I can’t walk and program… are you planning on carrying me, like an emperor of old?” At that comment he did spare a look up. He was joking, but he was also wondering what Ch’zaolrirh ahd in mind.

=^= Red squad, two more incoming… Maybe you heard the tale of the Hydra?=^=
