Ch’zaolrirh could sense the change in the air as the ionisation went up with the destruction of the security drone. He was also able to sense that there were more security drones arriving from the passageway ahead of the fighters.

Kolar was successful in getting past the next set of subroutines and shut down another major part of the installation. From what he could decipher, it seemed that the maintenance drones would not be coming to repair the damage. What was more disconcerting was that the system had begun to deploy subroutines to block Kolar’s intrusion. It seemed that one particular section of the code was more protected than the rest that were still functioning. The code was not too complex for Kolar but it was many layered and time was not a luxury at the moment.

GM

“It’s adapting.” Kolar looked at it. “I can keep ahead of it, but It’s going to keep me stuck to an access point to counter program.” He looked ahead. “You were doing well, I think it might be time to split up again, Mr. Ch’zaolrirh.”

Balfor CSO

Ch’zaolrirh turned back to the CSO, “Something else is coming. I don’t know what, but I imagine more security drones. If the system is adapting this area might be too dangerous for any of us of on foot…” As he continued to watch Kolar work at the panel, he tried to think of a solution. “Commander, do you think there is any way to continue your work remotely?”

Ch’zaolrirh (COS)

As he said this the fighters had managed to corner the remaining security drone. It, too, did not escape the fighters’ combined strategy. However, it was too early to celebrate. Sensors showed that two more security drones were on their way. They were two minutes away from contact.

GM

“It’s not an uplink.” Kolar commented without looking up. “Maybe I can hook in my tricorder, then link it to another tricorder. But I can’t walk and program… are you planning on carrying me, like an emperor of old?” At that comment he did spare a look up. He was joking, but he was also wondering what Ch’zaolrirh ahd in mind.

The Andorian looked puzzled, the joke having gone over his head. After pondering it for a moment he shook his head, “I was hoping we might be able to beam out of here before we become collateral damage?”

The COS watched as Kolar tapped his comm-badge:

When he looked back, Kolar found that he had only one layer to disable before shutting down the whole system. That would take slightly less than a minute.

=^= Red squad, two more incoming… Maybe you heard the tale of the Hydra?=^=

Balfor Kolar CSO

Papa Bear’s hearty laugh came over the comm. =^=Da, Hydra. Is 7-headed beast from Russian mythology. Cut off one head, two more grow back, unless you pour vodka on and set on fire. Good waste of vodka.=^=

Papa Bear (pilot)

Ch’zaolrirh took the hint, “I guess we are sticking around.” Still looking to address the away team’s safety, the COS reached out to the dragoon…

=^= COS to Dragoon. The away team is under drone fire. Red squadron has engaged, but some personal protection would be welcome. Is there anyway to beam a personal shield emitter to our coordinates?? =^=

COS Ch’zaolrirh

=^=Understood Ch’zaolrirh. Hang on. The personal shield emitter is on its way, =^= Jason’s disembodied voice answered.

Jason Harn, XO
Lt. Banner flew in with Red Squad to continue the firing…locking onto another target he got ready to fire.....

Banner

The first drone fired but missed. It was moving randomly as its weapons were charging. Banner only needed to get it before the drone got its weapon charged up.

Banner took aim at the drone and his targeting computer locked on....”I got you now”.....exclaimed Banner as he fired directly towards the drone.

Lt. Banner

The other drone had fired at the other fighters and missed as well, finding its end on a higher part of the wall. Ael almost had some of the collateral debris hitting him as well. A large chunk of the wall that fell off missed the port wing by two inches.

GM

“Or,” Kolar started on the final firewall. “I can just shut down the whole thing…” He kept tapping as he programmed trying to time his comments with the actual shut down of the system.

Kolar

The COS watched Kolar as he awaited the shield emitter. One way or the other, things would come to a head.

COS Ch’zaolrirh

The last hurdle crossed, Kolar was able to shut down the system.

The power went out and the drones that were fighting with the fighters stopped mid air and descended gently to the ground. It would seem that there had been some mechanism in them to prevent them from just falling due to gravity. The hum that was part of the background stopped and the silence was deafening.

GM

Banner watched the drones stop engaging and lower to the ground; suddenly, all the targets were gone from his scanner. He thought to himself, “Great....nothing else to blow up.”

Banner

Ael exhaled a sigh of relief. =/\=Well done everyone.=/\= a smile crossed his face, he’d missed this. =/\= I don’t think the away team needs air support anymore. Let’s get topside.=/\=

-Lt(j.g.) Ael Khev, Apex

“And that’s how its done.” Kolar turned to the Chief of Security. He nodded down the corridor. “Time to do more searching.”

Kolar CSO

Just as he finished his remark, the personal shield from the Dragoon appeared next to Lt. Ch’zaolrirh.

Ch’zaolrirh motioned Callahan over to grab the shield emitter. It was a clunky model, but it might still come in handy.

=^=Nice job, Red Squad,=^= Ric offered from CIC. =^=It appears air support is no longer needed at the moment, so, I know it’s not in your job description, but I’d like you land your birds and provide ground support to the CE and CSO while they explore deeper into the tunnel.=^=

Ricochet (CAG)

“Roger that, sir…I will follow the order birds in…”

Banner

The corridors, now dark were eerily quiet. The echoes of their breathing could even be heard.

GM

Kolar ‘respecting’ silence, tilted his head down the corridor indicating that they should move further into the silence. He picked up his tricorder, put it on mute, and scanned as he walked. A talent he had perfected through years of being a science officer coupled with even more years of being a youth with video games.

Kolar

The two security officers followed. Ch’zaolrirh kept his pistol in hand, uncertain of what they would find ahead.

Lt. Ch’zaolrirh (COS)

Papa Bear had parked his bird at the entrance to the tunnel and got his boots on the ground. Pulling off his helmet he tossed it into the cockpit. As he approached Kolar and the others, he drew his phaser.

Ael climbed out of his cockpit, leaving his helmet on the seat. He drew his phaser and walked with Papa Bear.

The tricorder told Kolar that the corridors lead to a central point about 28 kilometres from where they stood. Turning and twisting, it descended only about 1 kilommetre underground. While he could detect metal parts going underneath that point, but there was no space for any one to follow the parts. beyond the 40 kilometre mark, the tricorder was not able to detect anything.

The technology was quite amazing. It was rather evident that the civilisation that built it was very advanced.

GM

“Prophets,” Kolar exclaimed quietly. He tilted the tricorder so all could see the data. “I don’t have much of an interest of walking the 28 kilometers.”

=^=Olinski, can you scan the area around the following coordinates?”=^= He uploaded the information. =^=If safe, we could use a site to site transport to that location.=^=

Balfor Kolar CSO

“We could lock photons on wall, make big boomski, then hole we walk through. . .or fly through, if hole big enough, da?” stated the Russian pilot.

Papa Bear (Pilot)

“Hold your fire Papa.” Ael said with a smile.

=^=Scan commencing Away Party=^=

Olinski Ops station

Scans were difficult but there were indications that there were other passages from the central area that led more deeply into the crust of the earth. He was not able to make out the details of the scan but he realised that the passageway led to somewhere rather distant from where they were at the moment.

OOC: Does the away team know of the expedition to the mysterious ship?

GM

-Lt(j.g.) Ael Khev, Apex

OOC: We are unaware of the ship at the South Pole or the expedition there.

IC:

Ch’zaolrirh turned to Kolar, “If we can’t beam there, a ground vehicle could take us down in about an hour’s time.”

As he spoke, the Andorian pulled his own tricorder back out. He ran a query on the control panel he scanned earlier. He wanted to see if the technology was similar to that of any known society within Starfleet databases. Looking up for a moment, the Andorian had a curious look on his face, “Did you ever figure out what was going on with those natives?”

COS Ch’zaolrirh

“That’s if that’s the destination. For all we know that could be a way point to one, or a hundred different points.” He looked at the Andorran. We need to get more information before we get a car down here. Not to mention I’m a pretty poor driver.”

=^=Olinski, the point on the scan doesn’t seem to be the end point. We are going to need a massive scan. Do you need us to return to execute the investigation?=^= That was more a question about needing him, Kolar as the Chief Science Officer, to take the lead in what was going to be a huge project (as far as he knew).

Kolar CSO

=^=Leave the COS in charge. Were beaming you back to figure this out up here where you can do more good I think.=^=

Parker CO

=^=Aye, Aye, Captain.=^= Kolar tilted his head at the security chief. “You heard the man Mr. Ch’zaolrirh. I’d have them beam you to the hub and investigate from there, but thats the beauty of being in charge, you can completely ignore that piece of advise and do something else. ”

Kolar

OOC: Probably can skip the beam up and you can report to the Bridge with all that implied instead of RP’d.

Sidney

OOC: Sorry, I have been lone for three days....should I post here?
