SNIP

A few moments later she stepped into the transporter room =^= Commander Harn ready to transport down=^= She nodded to the transporter operator.

CIO

=^=Acknowledged Toro. Energize,=^= Jason responded.

“Lieutenants Gould and Turcio have successfully transported to the derelict,” Ensign Suvok reported from the ops console. “They are down and safe.”

“Thank you Suvok,” Jason replied as he let out a breath he didn’t realize he had been holding. “Keep a lock on their com signals,” he ordered.

“Aye-aye sir,” the young Vulcan acknowledged.

Jason resisted the temptation to contact the Toro and Gould and bombard them with questions. They were experienced officers who could be trusted to investigate the unknown spacecraft for a few minutes before he started backseat driving. So instead he decided to make conversation with Reynolds. It would allow him to access the psychological condition of the young officer and fill a few of the gaps in his knowledge. “So, Mister Reynolds, what was it like down there? I understand there were natives down there. What kind of civilization do they have?”

Jason Harn, XO, adding to his previous post and making unnecessary extra work for the GM

“They were rather primitive,” replied Reynolds. “They were also controlled by the sounds. However, I believe that they were kind of used to it. We found ourselves moving but unable to control our movements. It was terrifying. After three days of moving without being in control, I lost the will to fight it. At the same time, my body was getting used to it and since it did not pose any physical danger to myself or to others around me, I went with it instead of fighting it. It became easier as time went by. Of course, the moment we were able to control our movements again, I tried to find ways to rally the crew in my vicinity.”

“The natives on the other hand, became rather disoriented at first when the control stopped. Some just broke down in despair, others turned aggressive.”

GM

“Some of them turned aggressive,” Jason repeated. “Is that when the captain was injured?”

Inside, his mind was reeling. The natives were primitive? That changed everything. Had the computer god been controlling them for generations? Did their species even originate on this planet? Could they be the descendants of the officers and crew of another ship that got caught like the Dragoon? Was the derelict spacecraft under the planet’s south pole that ship? Jason had made the assumption that the mysterious spaceship under the ice would hold the answers but there was a good chance it merely held more questions.

Jason Harn, XO, giving extra time for Toro and Gould to investigate and still making unnecessary extra work for the GM

“Yes,” replied Reynolds. “It was reported that he tried to shield some the crew from a berserk attack once the sound stopped.”

GM

“It sounds as if you were spread out,” Jason probed while searching Reynolds’ face for a confirmation. “During the time you were controlled, how were you separated? Did you split up into various villages and join the ‘natives’? Or did you start building your own little hamlets?”

Jason Harn, XO, testing his hypothesis

“From conversations with the crew, I gathered that we were all sent to the natives,” replied Reynolds. “I have yet to encounter a group that set up their own village or hamlet, as you put it.”

GM

“Interesting, so you were forced to assimilate with the ‘natives’,” Jason mused, wondering just how indigenous the so-called natives really were. “I suppose that was easy with everyone being controlled and your people wearing combadges. I can only imagine the chaos when the domination wore off. I guess some of the denizens literally had no self control,” he added as he did his best to avoid imagining the nightmare of being forced to marry the natives and all of the involuntary Biblical activity that would imply. It was a good thing that the Olinski had arrived when it did.

Jason Harn, XO

“Koizumi, contact the Turcio and Gould,” Jason ordered the young man at the Dragoon’s communications console. He had intended to give the duo more time to explore before backseat leading them but right now he needed something to get his mind off the stomach turning scenario he had envisioned.

“Channel open sir,” Ensign Koizumi replied.

“Thank you Koizumi,” Jason nodded. =^=Dragoon to away team, what’s your status? Have you anything to report?=^=

Jason Harn, XO now bothering the away team instead of the GM
