Xandra looked at Ric. To her credit, she wasn’t all doey eyed and pleading. “I will remain away from the rescue and away teams. And I give my word to only stay long enough to see if I am affected again. I will see to the ship being on auto return in case something happens and promise to come back either once I prove one way or the other the planet affects me,” she nodded over her shoulder, “or the Doc orders me back.”

She had thought it thru. It seemed a sound request and a safe one, in her mind, since she wouldn’t be assisting or putting anyone else in danger. Her only fear, and the reason her pulse was slightly elevated, was a fear she was right. As well as equal fear she was wrong…

Xandra
Grounded pilot

Ric wasn’t sure how to respond. He was worried about her, as well, as the other pilot’s in the wing. They were at risk every time they climbed into the cockpit. If Xandra was still feeling the effects of the wave, he was putting them at even more risk. He had even more concerns for her personally. He loved her and the fact that was controlled scared the hell out of him. He knew she was an excellent pilot, tactician, and squad leader. Her skills were never a question with him when she climbed in the cockpit. Ric had every confidence Xandra would return from every mission, no matter the danger–she would come out on top.

But, this was different. She wasn’t in control, and from an outside influence, nonetheless. Still, if he didn’t let her put her theory to the test, it could further damage her, at this moment, fragile confidence. She could easily fall into the trap that Ric has lost confidence in her as well.

Finally, after long, tense, moments, Ric replied, “Fine, but I’m going along. I was there when this happened before. I know what to look for, Doc. No arguments, Lt. I am riding shotgun. I want to get you back on top as soon as possible. Understood?”

A very slight grin passed over his face as he wondered if Xandra would catch the Freudian slip.

Ricochet (CAG)

Doolittle was to say the least a little nervous. He had not been in a hot zone or whatever they called it, before. He was now going in with his patient. However this was like a test tube. He might never get a chance to study not only this patient in a live scenario but probably others as well.

Doolittle

Xandra knew Ric well enough to know what that look was as he studied her.

When he agreed, though added he was joining, she opened her mouth then closed it again. In her mind he had to stay behind. He had missions out there. But hey mind told her that if she spoke again, the consent would be revoked and she may never know. “Yes, Sir,” was all she could manage to say.

When he made the joke, she merely raised an eyebrow a moment as if to say ‘Really? You joke now?’

She nodded respectfully, “I’ll get the shuttle prepped.” She then turned swiftly on her heels and left the three men standing in her wake. She need a minute to gather herself. Thankfully, she was still in her flight hear from earlier so didn’t need to change.

Down in the hanger she surly moved to the small shuttle that would accommodate them, got the Hanger Chief’s reluctant ok to begin preflight after promising him the CAG was on his way.

It was in the pilot’s seat they would find her, humming absently, when they arrived.

Doolittle had said nothing. This was not his chain of command tit for tat. He was ready to study a patient in the wild so to speak.

Doolittle

Ric walked alongside Doolittle to the shuttle bay. “You really think this is a good idea, doc? What id it is the planet that’s affecting her? What if it isn’t? What do we do then? I don’t want to have to ground her, because she is a damn good pilot. But, I don’t want to see her putting herself or others at risk.”

Ricochet (CAG)

“My first impression is to have kept her in Sickbay. However the Captain overrode that and it’s mute to discuss it further. I will do my best in this capacity. Regardless of the planet and if it is the sole issue of her mental breakdown she will need more treatment once this is all done. My job for right now is to observe and assist.” Doolittle answered.

((Ooc… Moving us along… Feel free to fill in above this if you want… Meli))

Once everyone was aboard, Xandra cleared their departure and let the Olinski. Despite the fact no one asked, she spoke aloud as each maneuver was made, each button pushed and every toggle was flipped. She was giving her thought process and subsequent choices verbally as if it was the final interview at the Academy.

Everything she did was by the book. She fell silent, finally, as they coasted to the planet and a prearranged landing site far enough away from the rescue parties to interfere.

Doolittlle watched Primage closely. Up to this point she looked fine.

From the co-pilot’s seat, Ric listened intently to each of Xandra’s comments while watching her hands move over the console. He wanted to make sure everything she did matched perfectly with her responses.

“You’re doing fine, Xandra. Feeling good,” the CAG asked?

Ricochet (CAG)

Doolittle snickered under his breath. Everyone wanted to be a lawn chair psychiatrist. Let the expert do the watching and coaching.
