Mirri looked back “Captain, we’re in a high orbit, I can take us into a lower orbit and we may be able to enhance the transporter beams to get lower into the tunnels.” She said as a suggestion.

Helm

“Tunneling with phasers probably would be more effective, if you are willing. Lowering orbit might make out a more inviting target to any defense system.”

Kolar

The Captain listened to all the inputs. He needed one more though.

=^=Captain Parker to Harn. Please update your situation. Were at a crossroads here and we need to know what this ship plays in this all and if it can help.=^=

Parker CO

=^=Harn to Parker,=^= Jason replied. =^=Captain, Mister Gould reports that the ship is Iconian! I’m no expert in ancient civilizations, but if memory serves it just might have the technology to have caused all this. My away team has computer access now. Should they power the ship up?=^=

Jason Harn, XO, shifting gears and trying to catch up.

+^=Standby by Commander.=^=

The Captain looked back toward Kolar.

“Your opinion CSO?” He asked.

Parker CO

“Iconian tech is notoriously unpredictable as we have never had a good translation matrix for it and it is incompatible with Federation systems. It’s like playing an anti-lottery, odds are ‘one use’ you are safe, but after repeated activation’s they are bound to have a negative reaction.” He tilted his head. “I’m going to isolate all the computer systems from each other. After an unintended scan, the computer breakdown blew up the Yamato about twenty five years ago. If my memory serves.” If Kolar said it aloud, he was pretty certain his memory was accurate.

IC:

=^=Go ahead and fire it up as safely as possible.=^=

The Captain answered. It was a risk but he was willing to take it.

Parker CO

Kolar

=^=Aye-aye sir. Message received. Harn out,=^= the first officer acknowleged. Was it Parker’s imagination or was there a tiny hint of dread in Commander Harn’s reply?

Jason Harn, XO

The Counselor had perked up a bit after hearing Kolar mention the Yamato and her demise. “Do we know the ship’s capabilities?” Lieutenant Michaels asked, momentarily forgetting about the pilot.

CNS

Mirri remained vigilant and ready to move the large ship at a moment’s notice.

Helm

“It’s Iconian. Does anyone really know all their capability. Plus its hard to tell. A colony ship would not, I guess, be a warship. Hopefully its design is peaceful.” Sid said hoping for the best. At least this would give them some answers.

Parker CO

Kolar tilted his head with a slight smile. It was hopeful, Iconian tech was interconnected in a way Federation science couldn’t explain. The colony ship might be able to access the home planet and in turn become quite dangerous in a short period of time.

Balfor Kolar CSO

The Captain knew that doing anything with that ship was risky but also potentially an answer to the mystery of the planet. Something, maybe Iconian, built those drones. These people came from somewhere. They were not going to get the answers through osmosis. They had to take a step one way or the other. They could not wait for some hidden machinery to rebuild drones and better mind control devices.

Parker CO

Lieutenant Michaels stood and waited to see what happened next. A small part of him hoped the ship wouldn’t activate, but they were explorers after all and this would be a great event to put in the mission log. Doing this would definitely put the ship in danger if any of the Federation’s enemies caught wind.

CNS

“Lt. Michaels how is the pulse of the crew?” Sid asked. He did not need everyone to agree with his actions but he did want to know their mood. Because that may be the difference of them following an order or taking a quick action. His CNS was the one he trusted to keep that finger firmly pressed on that pulse.

Parker CO

“As they access systems they have to check the automatic programs. Much like turning on a computer, each one has a series of auto-runs that could start a process we don’t want. In layman’s terms they have to start everything in ‘safe’ mode.”

Kolar

“Send that info to them Commander.” The Captain told Balfor.

It was starting to make for some strange moments. It was like at every turn they came up with a solution and then something happened that made them second guess their previous actions.

Parker CO

Mirri turned around “If the Iconians are on the surface, could our away team be in danger. We know that the Iconians don’t like interfereance. ”

Helm
