Xandra nodded. “I appreciate what you are saying. But last time, merely being in close proximity, then on the surface of the planet, made it evident my mind couldn’t make the calculations for the craft I was in, much less give details ahead of time as to what I was doing and why. For whatever reason, the ‘residue’ or affects, or whatever you wish to call it, have stopped either because of my longer time away from the surface, or the fact the emitters are no longer firing.” She glanced at Ric, then back to the others. “I would never put my CAG, or anyone else, senior officer to lowly cadet, in jeopardy. If I thought for a moment that I was a risk to anyone, I would curl up in my room and await as many medical and psych appointments as I thought necessary to make sure I was not a hindrance to this ship, or anyone else, for that matter.”

She wasn’t upset, oddly enough, if Ric took any notice. This time, despite being confronted, she was trying to say she was all right without being obstinate about it.

Xandra
Pilot?

Ric grinned as she looked over in his direction. He didn’t say anything, but would expect no less from one of his squad leaders, let alone his lover. Xandra was a team player to the Nth degree, not a show-off like some pilots had a reputation for.

“you’re doing fine, Lt., but I want to try something. I’ve punched in the coordinates of where we were before, when you got the Ranger and shuttles mixed up. Set us down in that same clearing and let’s see if there’s any reaction this time.”

Ricochet (CAG)

Xandra smiled and nodded to the others in the ship. “Yes, sir.”

Lift off and landings were clean and smooth. Her running verbal account of actions, reactions and reasons were spot on. Landing in the previous clearing didn’t distract from that accuracy at all.

((Moving this along a bit… Feel free to erase this ooc and put in a response if you prefer))

She fired back answers to Ric’s questions with the practice and ease of a veteran pilot with no wrong answers. After nearly fifteen minutes she smiled and took a look at each in turn. “Well, I’m no professional, but with no headache, vision issue or memory stutters, I’d like to say my previous delirium was localized to the moment on the surface with the lingering field from the generators.”

She hoped to be cleared for duty, but would certainly understand if Ric or the other were still hesitant.

Xandra
Pilot

Doolittle could see she was able to handle herself and he was not adverse to letting her continue with the mission. However she thought she was going to get completely cleared of having to attend some appointment sessions she was very wrong. The way she reacted to the whole event was more telling to him than her being able to be a pilot on duty. There was more going on and deeper that he needed to explore.

Doolittle

Ric grew more and more confident that Xandra was back to normal and said so. “From what I can see, everything is normal, Sehlat. Technically, manually, everything’s by the book. I’m good to clear you.” He turned to look at Doolittle and asked, “She good to get back in the saddle from where you’re sitting?”

Ricochet (CAG)

“With the understanding she is not cleared from further sessions. I will only sign off on her return to mission duty if she guarantees to attend further sessions with me. Number of sessions to be determined per the Counseling section.” Doolittle answered.

Doolittle

Before Ric could say anything, her hand went to his and she piped up. “I agree. I wanted to prove that I wasn’t a liability if it came to it. You all were willing to go out on the limb on the word of a possibly unstable pilot.” She glanced at Ric surprising him without putting up a fight. “I’ll do what I need to. It’s all right. And I promise to stay out of combat and only on patrol runs till everyone is satisfied I’m clear to engage.” She smiled at him with the look that let him know she appreciated what he did, and she would do her part.

Glancing back at Doolittle, she smiled. “Is that acceptable?” Her behavior, while amiable, might seem slightly out of character from her usual I don’t need counceling attitude she usually maintained, even in her usual after battle debriefs. If Doolittle didn’t know any better, he would think this had scared her enough that she was willing to agree to anything now that her fears had been laid to rest in her mind.

Xandra
Pilot

Doolittle smiled and nodded. He noticed she was a little quick to agree and that could indicate a version of bargaining. An indication that she really did realize that she needed help. Only time would tell.

Doolittle

Ric smiled and gave her a wink. “I’m agreeable with that, Doc.”

Turning back to face the front, he opened a comm. =^=Olinski, this is Shuttle Hawking. We are returning to the ship. ETA 10 minutes. Have a team prep Ly. Primage’s bird and get her ready to fly.=^=

=^=Acknowledged, Commander.=^= came the reply.

“Take us back, Lt. Time to get you back on patrol.”

Ricochet (CAG)

“Roger that, Sir,” Xandra replied with a grin. The pilot headed back and this time the silence that filled the cabin, at least from her, was a much calmer one than earlier. She’s thank Ric later when privacy was more really available. And she’d thank Doolittle as well. He didn’t have to indulge her, but he had.

She didn’t know what had caused the lapse, which was why she agreed to further sessions. But in the other hand, she was satisfied she wouldn’t put anyone else in jeopardy and was safe to be anyone’s wingman or lead. That’s all that had mattered to her. Had she not gotten that peace of mind, she would have grounded herself.

Xandra
Pilot

((Any reason to continue this? I love it. Something cool to play off of in the future hehehe… Meli… Thanks guys))

Doolittle settled in. His job was observing and right now that was fine. She seemed fine.

Doolittle

Once the shuttle landed in the hangar bay, the three exited. Before he walked off, Ric nodded to Doolittle. “Thanks for your input, Doc. I’ll make sure the Lt. keeps her sessions with you.”

The CAG was about to order Xandra back into the air in her bird. Before he could do so, a crewman approached with a report “Ricochet, Papa Bear, Banner, Tink, and Spotter continue to patrol the planet. Apex is boots on the ground with the Away Team in one of the villages. No threats there, sir. Things have calmed down considerably.”

He continued to bring Ric and Xandra up do date on the whole situation as to the Dragoon, the Away team, and the Iconian ship.

Turning to Xandra, he looked her in the eye. “I’m glad your okay. You scared me there for a bit. It doesn’t look like we’re needed out there anymore. Why don’t you get cleaned up, get ready for the debrief once everybody’s back on board, then . . ” he took a step closer, “we’ll have a nice relaxing dinner.”

=^=Skipper, this is Ricochet. I got the report things are calmed down for the time being. I’m recalling all flights for debrief. Any objections?=^=

Ricochet (CAG)
