Michael was seated at his desk filling out miles of forms and reports. The kind of evening that followed a day like the one he had just had. Submitting reports to the Captain as well as a report to the Starfleet Engineering team taking over the Iconian ship. An NE knocked on the frame of his still-open office door. Michael looked up, a little surprised to see anyone at all. “Reid. What can I do for you?” He came in. “Sir. Manpower and ship status reports. I… thought I’d just be dropping these on your desk for you to get in the morning.” Michael laughed. “Someday Reid, when you have your own department, you will understand that-“ He checked the clock “23:00 hours isn’t that late. Especially on a day when you decided to jumpstart an Iconian ship.” Reid smiled. “Well, goodnight sir. I hope you get some time off before tomorrow.”

“Goodnight Ensign.”

Michael hadn’t made much of a social life for himself since arriving on the Olinski. The excuse was always too much work and not enough time. But he knew that wasn’t the full truth. You can always make work when there’s something to be avoided.

As he signed the last PaDD, the clock read 23:42. With nowhere to go but home, he left for his quarters, waving his goodbyes to the night shift. Walking down the halls, he couldn’t stand another night of the same. He turned around and headed for the lounge.

He got himself an Irish whiskey and a seat at a table by a window.

At 23:48 he heard a voice behind him. “You look like your girl just left you,” Jason said as he walked forward so as to enter Michael’s sight. “Mind if I join you?”

Jason Harn, XO, so old that he still assumes that boys are restricted to pining over girls.

Michael laughed as he looked back to see the XO. “Please.”

“Thanks,” Jason smiled as he sat down on the other side of the table. “That was a hell of a mission wasn’t it?”

“Yeah, it’s been a long one. But I blame the Iconians.”

Dr. Winston Doolittle made his way into the Lounge. Not one to frequent the establishment, as he had his own wine selection in his modest cabin, he liked to go after a mission to observe the crew and make notes about post mission stress habits. All under cover of course as just another drinking patron. He observed Gould and the XO and decided what better test subjects to observe.

“Gentlemen may an honest practitioner of the medical sciences join you?” He asked them.

Doolittle

Jason looked at Michael. “Mike?”

Not recognising this strange doctor, Michael pushed out a third chair. “If that practitioner of the medical sciences is willing to be honest about his name.”

-Michael Gould

“Of course. Winston Doolittle M.D.” He answered. Which was exactly the truth as psychiatrist were medical doctors. “What is the drink of the day?”

Winston quickly changed gears. No need for them to know he was the psychiatrist if they did not know already. People tended to close up personally when they knew that. However he accepted the XO might already know.

Doolittle M.D.

“We have a synthehol based Irish Coffee with a coffee blend from the mid 20th century,” replied the waiter, who had come seeing the party forming.

“Red wine for me,” Jason smiled. “I’m ordering the steak tonight. This is my lunch hour on a midnight shift.”

Jason Harn, XO

“Irish whiskey. Putting a 16 hour day behind me. Come to think of it though, I don’t recall having dinner. It’s all kind of a blur of PaDDs.”

-Michael Gould

The waiter nodded and asked, “How would you like your steak Commander?”

Then turning to the other two, he asked, “Would the Lieutenant and the Doctor want something to eat as well?”

GM who has to post even when the sim has ended :)

“I’ll have a steak as well. Medium rare. Thanks.”

-Michael Gould
