SNIP

As the waiter came by Sid asked him to go to the back and in the area where the drinks were kept he would find a package that had the Captains name on it. Opena nd bring it to the table with a glass with two ice cubes inside. The waiter looked at him funny but then figured he was a Captain and half of those guys tended to be a little off so he went and did it. In a minute he returned with a bottle with the name “Makers Mark” on it.

“Whiskey I believe Sir.” He said knowing full well it was the real deal.

“Yes it is. Here good fellow pour yourself one and leave the bottle.” Sid told him. The waiter hesitated and then decided what the heck. He did so and sipped it once and then downed it.

“Thank you Sir. Definitely not synthetic.” He said and stepped away.

The Captain looked at the motley crew and offered the bottle after he poured himself one.

Michael poured himself a glass. Being partial to both whiskey and things stronger than synthehol, this was Christmas come early. “Cheers Captain.” He took a sip. “Replicators are an amazing thing, but there are some things in life that just have to be real.”

In the meantime, Jason continued making small talk with Ch’zaolrirh. “Think we’ll find time to continue that holonovel?” he asked. “What chapter were we on anyway?”

Jason Harn, XO

The Andorian’s antannae twitched. He had almost forgotten about the holo-novel. “I believe we had found the statue…” He thought for a moment more, “Oh yes, and the miss who asked us to find it wasn’t really the dead man’s wife.”

The alien was originally apprehensive about taking part in the holo-novel, but it had grown on him, “If we can’t get the crew back together for that one, maybe we can start another… I have been reading up about the ancient Amerikkan west…”

“Yeah, the American West,” Jason nodded. “Whatever we decide to run should be something more interactive, not based off a novel but something that was written to be played on the holodeck in the first place. That way we’ll have more options when we go off script.”

Kolar looked at the bottle suspiciously, he wasn’t a saint and had on more that a few occasions imbibed extensively, but he was in front of a number of superior officers and those who weren’t superior were junior. He pursed his lips as he took the bottle, and poured out just slightly less then the Captain. Passing the bottle on to the next officer he smiled uncomfortably as he picked up his glass.

Meanwhile, the orchestra finished their first number and began a second with a more upbeat 20th century bassa nova.

Food began to arrive and some sat to eat while others began to dance. Sid could see that at long last many of his crew were relaxing and letting their hair down as they saying went. He himself started to eat but remained part of the conversation.

“I do believe our crew are loosening up.” He remarked. ” They deserve it.”

Toro walked into the room, her black gown down to the floor with a splash of white across the shoulder. It was not very often that anyone saw the Italian Chief Intelligence officer out of uniform, much less in a dress. Her long dark hair was pulled back in a partial braid wrapped around the top of her head with the rest hanging in soft ringlet curls, her dark eyes took in everything , habits were hard to break.

CIO

Mirri tugged at the dress, it was definitely not like her to be in a gown of any kind. She sighed and stepped into the room and looked around and grabbed a glass of wine from the first waiter that came by. She never got used to these things, but they were a standard aboard the Olinski and they were often a fun thing to attend.

Kolar sipped his whiskey slowly. It was an enjoyable burn and he meant to savor it… slowly. Which served his purposes of not getting too out of hand. He smiled unconsciously, that would be something. Kolar getting out of hand at any time much less in front of the whole ship. It almost would be worth if for the expression he presumed would be on everyone’s faces.

OOC: Fixing my split

If the Captain was a good whistler and it was proper he would have done so seeing his CIO and Helmsmen walk in. It was easy to forget that these were not just crewmen and ones he had known for a long time but also beautiful women.

Parker CO

He scanned the room slightly as the Helm officer and the Intelligence officer entered almost together. It was as if someone simultaneously wrote them into the story. Now his smile was slightly larger but still unconscious. There were upsides to the Black and White Ball. Despite their discomfort, the members of the crew did look particularly attractive when they dressed up. Not that he, a superior officer, would notice.

While Ch’zaolrirh and Jason were talking a short slender woman in in slinky black evening gown walked over to them. “Hello there Commander, it is good to see you again. Who is your friend?” she asked in a quiet dreamy mezzosoprano voice that had a strange lilting quality to it.

Jason blushed at the unexpected familiarity but recovered quickly. “Maya! Hello there, good to see you again. Let me introduce you to Lieutenant Srothell Ch’zaolrirh, the Brian A. Olinski’s chief security officer. Thell, may I introduce Doctor Maya, M.D.”

“Hello there, Mister Ch’zaolrirh, pleased to meet you,” Maya greeted serenely. From a certain angle she seemed to be smiling. Doctor Maya was a slender Vulcan female of indeterminate age. She had allowed the rather severe haircut favored by most of her people to grow out a bit and now her pageboy haircut had grown enough to hide the pointed tips of her ears. Likewise, she had allowed her dark bangs to grow enough to hide the severe slant of her eyebrows. Her almost egg white skin indicated that her ancestors lived even closer to the poles of her home world than Jason Harn or Balfor Kolar, if such a thing was possible. Her hands seemed too large for her rather petite body. Large hazel eyes peered out from a long pallid face.

Jason Harn, temporarily adding another character with permission in order to make it easier to post every days and help equal out the male to female ration of the Black and White Ball.

The Captain continued to eat his meal but was paying attention to the Vulcan who had just came up. He was pretty sure she was a Vulcan but strangely on the friendly side. He sipped his whiskey, which he saw was a hit at the table. He let the warmth of it hit him.He knew that after the meal the orchestra setting would be joined by a band doing their best to copy a very old earth band called Maroon 5. He figured with enough drink and merriment he might even see a few crew get out there and dance. Heck he might even see if he would if opportunity knocked.

Parker CO

And opportunity knocked. “Hey there Sidney, long time no see,” a low yet feminine voice greeted wryly. Towering over Sidney was a tall lanky blonde woman with mischievous light brown eyes. “Of all the solar systems, in all the starbases, you come waltzing into mine,” Counselor Emma Ripley smirked. “I haven’t seem you since the Pakleds made a mockery during that conference at Babel One.”

OOC: Here’s a character I briefly played aboard the USS Saracen before the website moved. She is a neglectful mother with a twelve year old daughter named Lacey. https://i.imgur.com/bytUN1P.gif?noredirect Lacey is no Wesley Crusher and is desperate for attention. Here is an image of Counselor Ripley in uniform: https://images-wixmp-ed30a86b8c4ca887773594c2.wixmp.com/f/3ae832bb-9041-4e66-8ca5-20c2dd1727a1/d8ew33l-7dbd49b1-40a3-4c7b-9b6c-79217e68d84f.jpg/v1/fill/w_1192,h_670,q_70,strp/sigourney_weaver_galaxy_quest_star_trek_by_gazomg_d8ew33l-pre.jpg?token=eyJ0eXAiOiJKV1QiLCJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJzdWIiOiJ1cm46YXBwOjdlMGQxODg5ODIyNjQzNzNhNWYwZDQxNWVhMGQyNmUwIiwiaXNzIjoidXJuOmFwcDo3ZTBkMTg4OTgyMjY0MzczYTVmMGQ0MTVlYTBkMjZlMCIsIm9iaiI6W1t7ImhlaWdodCI6Ijw9MTA4MCIsInBhdGgiOiJcL2ZcLzNhZTgzMmJiLTkwNDEtNGU2Ni04Y2E1LTIwYzJkZDE3MjdhMVwvZDhldzMzbC03ZGJkNDliMS00MGEzLTRjN2ItOWI2Yy03OTIxN2U2OGQ4NGYuanBnIiwid2lkdGgiOiI8PTE5MjAifV1dLCJhdWQiOlsidXJuOnNlcnZpY2U6aW1hZ2Uub3BlcmF0aW9ucyJdfQ.gwJrNU319ARKekoUJPqevd3IuKPWu9JjHr1vNvCY7K4

Don’t worry this is the last ‘extra character I have for this scene. I just thought I’d add a few guests so that people’s PCs would have somebody to talk to. Sidney and Kenson have given me the thumbs up so let’s see how it goes.

Ch’zaolrirh’s body stiffened up a bit at the sight of the Vulcan. Although the cold war between their peoples had come to an end nearly two hundred years ago, old rivalries died hard. As a child, the elders in his clan would spin tales about the on-going clandestine actions of various high profile Vulcan politicians within the federation. On some occasions, they would contemptuously refer to these individuals as the “Vulcan High Command,” a reference to the government that once tried to invade his home world.

Being the only Andorian aboard the Olinski, it had become easier for Ch’zaolrirh to set aside the stereotypes. He returned the greeting, “A pleasure to meet you Doctor.” Attempting to break the ice, he placed his free hand on the back of his head and grinned, “I suppose we would have met sooner, if I made time for all of the physicals Mr. Harn adds to my schedule.”

He glanced back at Jason, still with a smile, hoping that his joke wouldn’t be misinterpreted.

COS Ch’zaolrirh

Sure enough it was. “Is your work generally demanding Mister Ch’zaolrirh?” the little Vulcan asked him in perfect innocence. Maya looked at the Andorian with a blank, catlike stare.
